As part of our ongoing effort to offer the finest in whatever it is we are peddling around here these days, we respond to the many earnest supporters of Professor Krugman. Their major complaint - Krugman's critics are drooling lunatics. Sorry, can't help you with that one. Their minor point is, no one dares challenge the brilliant illumination cast by the dazzling sun called "PK" on his central subject of economics.
Why that is important is somewhat elusive - if the Earnest Prof is commenting on other subjects, surely we are free to follow?
Whatever. We will enjoy an unexpected alliance with an ardent but optimistic lefty, and wave in Brad DeLong to address P. Krugman's comparison of the United States to Argentina, and his frequent use of the phrase "banana republic" to describe the United States. (Sorry, no links to that phrase, and Where's Bobby?!?)
On the subject of income inequality, we have recent commentary here, and my own (endless) effort from out of the archives.
If you stay with it, I have good questions about China here.
And that's it. We resume limited service.
MORE:
Before you ask - I have no idea how I wrote 50,000 words on income inequality without repeatedly emphasizing the importance if income mobility.
Now, this stray PK quote is floating about:
Fearless Predictions:
...unless we slide into Japanese-style deflation, there are much higher interest rates in our future.
I want to get these gems in one place.
You are an infidel and the aspersions you cast on Shining Light of Goodness Krugman will earn you a thousand years in a dark, cold place. Or at least more flames from lefties.

I hate it when that happens.
Not the thousand years in a dark, cold place. The "coffee through the nose while reading comments".
Although the head cold seems to be clearing up.

I LOVE THE NEW SITE.
AND you have comments.
That will be all for now.
