With Wesley Clark completing the cast, the Democratic Presidential field can turn its gaze to a distant stormcloud.
However else they feel about Iraq, Democrats agree - Bush's diplomacy was a disaster. Now, however, Tom Friedman has declared war on France. This follows by several days a bit of ritualistic Bush-bashing by the NY Times editors which was interrupted by an uncharacteristc admission that the French were daft:
...Secretary of State Colin Powell quickly rejected France's proposal for an unrealistically rapid buildup to Iraqi elections in the spring.
This is not helpful. The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our allies, but in ourselves. Or at least, Dems need to say so convincingly. If they are losing the Times, they are in trouble.
