Seriously. The re-election effort of New York City Mayor John Lindsay was given a boost by the Miracle Mets in 1969. If Curt Schilling can help the Red Sox lift the Curse next October, all will be sweetness and light in Red Sox Nation. Howard Dean won't be able to attract an angry following in New England, and incumbents like Bush will benefit from an "all's well with the world" afterglow.
The opposite phenomenon will be occurring in New York, but those soon-to-be shell-shocked teeth-gnashers were probably going Democratic anyway.
UPDATE: Do the Yankees play in a ball park, or Jurassic Park? The current rumor: Exile Weaver to the Dodgers for the aging Kevin Brown as a replacement for the aged Roger Clemens.
