I told you so.

Mission accomplished, Brent. Your "I told you so" applies to Kosovo, perhaps that's what you meant. Astounding how good you were at old conventional dust-ups, yet utterly clueless when it comes to today's challenges. The cost of winning the current war will be materially lower if your simplistic thinking can continue to be marginalized.

Well, that "crisis du jour" didn't last long. The breathless doomsaying is getting a bit tired, and isn't helping the NYTimes' frayed reputation any.

On the bigger issue, the relentless salesmanship is frankly amazing. That we should view a three-week war, with 500 total US fatalities, and an interim constitution signed within a year as a failure is so totally divorced from reality as to be unxplainable through incompetence. And the Times' partisanship, even after Raines's departure, is so obvious that it's self-defeating.

Pretty deep, Brent. (BTW, it's "Scowcroft.")
