Senators Kerry and Edwards where stumped by the question asked by different interviewers - "are we safer?"
The 9/11 Commission has an answer:
Because of offensive actions against al Qaeda since 9/11, and defensive actions to improve homeland security, we believe we are safer today. But we are not safe. We therefore make the following recommendations that we believe can make America safer and more secure.
Ok, they don't cite the Iraq war as a reason; don't interrupt my rhetorical flow.
Y'know, when you and I write the same thing at the same time, I really think you should give me a hat tip. Or, I should give one to you.
Or perhaps it's just a redundancy "safety measure" thing? :)
