" You forgot murder was illegal?" -Steve Martin

Actually I think the routine was something like this. I tape recorded this as a kid off Saturday Night Live (one of the weird things I did back then), so I can pretty much type it from memory.

You can be a millionaire, and never pay taxes.

That's right, you can be a millionaire, and never pay taxes.

You say, Steve, how can I be a millionaire, and never pay taxes?

First, get a million dollars... now...

You say, Steve, what do I do when the tax man comes to the door and says "You have never paid taxes."

Two simple words

How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations becasue we don't say "I forgot?"

Let's say you're on trial for armed robbery. You tell the judge "I forgot armed robbery was illegal."

But suppose he says back to you "You have committed a foul crime. You have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from people a random - and you say 'I forgot'?"

Two simple words.

I have to ask this: Have fully plumbed the depths of silliness in this case?

I'm betting that there's more to come. If the case were simply the revealing of Valerie Plame's identity then the investigation would have been over long ago. It's my opinion that the investigator is actually investigating Wilson and Plame for violations of federal law and violations of various security acts and regulations.

Don't be surprised at the end of all this if it isn't Wilson and Plame arrested and indicted.
