I may be wrong on this but I thought I heard over the weekend that Israel has a different calendar. Could be an explanation.

yes, but they add about 3 millenia to the calender and comparatively october was last spring.
But secular Israel (you know abb1, the one your friends bomb and murder the children of) uses the convention calender.
