This week, Destiny's Angels wave good-bye to the Alternatively Destined Red Sox. Yankee fans had better get their gloating in quickly, however, because the Angels are going to dispatch the Yanks and head to the Series.
The Astros will thrill their fans by finally winning a playoff round. However, the Cards will restore order in the NLCS, and go on to show the Angels that they, too, have wings.
Full disclosure - if the Red Sox win in October, and Kerry wins in November, I may just duct-tape my eyes, ears, and (especially) mouth until December. December 2006. That is not a bet, BTW, but more of a glum prognosis.
Your Astros prediction is spot on for the first round. You are clueless as the the LCS. Stros in 6 and on to the series against John Kerry's team, the BoSox led by Manny Ortiz and David Ramirez. Or is it Pedro Lowe and Derrick Martinez? Johnny Varitek and Jason Damon? I could go on and on.

I wonder what Massachusetts would rather have - A Kerry presidency or a Red Sox championship.

Nate,
They shouldn't get either one, they don't deserve them.
May the Curse of Jackie Robinson haunt the Filth Sox forever.

Ernest,
I've gotta disagree. I live in Massghanistan, and I've bled with the Sox for years. I'd love to see them break the "curse", but I guess that's just regional bias.
As for Kerry. . . Yeah, I'm not a fan of him. No one in Massachusetts is. Maybe Ted Kennedy.

We are in complete agreement as to who will lead the Red Sox. Our dispute is over the direction in which they will lead them.

Since you are quoting The Sun on Iran's mullahs mocking Kerry, you also know full well that it reports...

... the Red Sox are, by far, the best team in baseball, and the most likely to win the World Series.
Consider a few facts: the Red Sox outscored their opponents by 180 runs this season -- twice as many as the Yankees (89), and nearly as many as the Cardinals (197). The margin between their team OPS and that of their opponents was 108 points -- higher than the Cardinals, nearly double that of the Braves and Yankees, and nearly triple that of any other playoff team.
Then consider that the Red Sox team playing this week is even better than the one that amassed these gaudy statistics ...

Enjoy picking up your Series trophy!

Yes, but which team do Iran's mullahs favor?

The Yankees are big in Iran. Steinbrenner's very popular there.
Not to be contrary, but I don't see New York beating the Twins. I don't see Santana losing, first, and probably not Radke, either. Maybe in the ALCS, when Minnesota's three-pitcher rotation gets tired, but the way NYY looks now... no.
And, uh... not for nothing, but St. Louis is going to roll over everyone. Maybe the Red Sox beat them in the World Series, but no one else.
