I hereby extend my "Things To Not Do" list: Do not suggest to a frequent left-leaning commenter that his scandals will be taken more seriously if set to music.
Perhaps the rest of you can learn from my experience. Here is my own personal reminder to be careful what you wish for, to the tune of "Send in the Clowns". We are in the Oval Office, with only George, Karl, and a karaoke machine...
Ain't this a bitch, the end of our pair
Fitzpatrick at last takes you down - and you still have no hair
I'm really a clown. The leak was a crime, yet you approved
Now Fitzpatrick keeps tearing around - and the poll numbers move
But where are the WMDs? - I'm really a clown.Just when I stopped inventing reasons
Finally finding the one that I wanted - Nigeria!
Joe Wilson makes an entrance in Vanity Fair
I was so sure of my SOTU lines - but truth wasn't thereMy administration's a farce; my fault I fear
I thought Chalabi and flowers and parades- sorry my dear
But where are the WMDs -I'm really a clown.
No yellowcake hereTaxbreaks for the rich, isn't Jeff Gannon queer
Losing my softball reporter this late in my career
But where are the WMDs? - I'm really a clown.
Well maybe next year- Creepy Dude -
Oh, boy - how can I respond to that when I can't reach the high notes and my band is on break?
But I have some glimmers! To the tune of "Leader of the Pack", I can see Condi (in those fine leather boots!) taking the lead on "Invasion of Iraq". Or perhaps we can encourage Mickey Kaus to try his hand at a Bob Dylan inspired tribute to John Kerry - "Don't Run Twice, It's Alright".
OK, good job by "Creepy", who recently received a lateral promotion to "Irish".
Developing...
It's even better if you imagine Krusty singing it, which I am doing right now.

Thanks for the kind words TM.
Your deprogramming is proceeding nicely.
But seriously- impeach Bush already!

The Times They Are a Changin works without any word changes at all. Consider (from memory):
"don't criticize what you can't understand"
"writers and critics who prophesize with your pens, keep your eyes wide the chance won't come again"
"don't speak too soon for the wheel's still in spin and there's no telling who that it's naming"
Medicine for the reactionaries of the 60s is also good for reactionaries of the 21st Century.

You're so right MR.
I was just thinking that today's conservatives are the new hippys, and the Summer 2005 is shaking up to be "The Summer of Democracy" just 38 years after the Summer of Love.
Of course, there's alway an Altamont. There aren't any free concerts planned for Bagdhad with Kurdish militia providing security anytime soon, are there?

"Send in the Clowns?" LOL! Phuleeze, don't you guys know, the Left doesn't do show-tunes, they need some repetitious interminable Brechtian drivel, done-over by Andrew Lloyd Weber - like that hideous, defeatist, Oscar song with the refrain, "Learn to be Lonely." Hmmm, could it be their new anthem?

Great. Now I'll have that tune in my head for the rest of the day.
I have been of the opinion that the WMD was shipped out to Syria. It looks like we may be finding out for sure before too long. Perhaps CD can make WMD and Syria rhyme.

How about:
"Hey Creepy Irish Dude" to the tune of 'Hey Jude"?
I'm already getting goosebumps.
PS CIDude - One more post without a Nazi/Hitler reference and you will lose 'creepy' forever and ever.
