I didn't hear quite the cheering Red Sox fans had delivered previously when Mariano struck out the side in the ninth to close out what will soon be the best second-place club in baseball.
And A Rod and Curt Schilling reversed the hero-goat roles.
In Boston, the Summer of Fear has begun.
Fun detail - with two outs in the ninth, A Rod chased a foul ball near the seats - he couldn't get to it, but he reached over the wall to pat some five year old on the head. The camera cut back to show one very excited lifetime fan.
Unfortunately, that child had to be humanely destroyed.
Regarding your (all too credible) claims of an invicible Yankees juggernaut: It's early yet. You can't hide Carl Pavano forever.

Don't think facts can daunt me!

The race really matters this year--no wild card for the loser.

That part completed, after the game they filmed the scene of the kid handing an exhausted A-rod a Coke in a lonely stadium tunnel.

Can we get Rove to leak the kid's name to Newsweek?

Striking out the side against a team who fans feel has Mariano's number must have been pretty deflating for these same fans.
This is a good thing--Sox fans are their own worst enemies.

Well, the Sox appear not to have been terribly devastated by the loss.
