cool...JOM field trip

Sue

Plus he needs the hits to his blog. It would seem he doesn't generate much traffic on his own. I'm sure he woud appreciate our help.

topsecretk9

--cool...JOM field trip--

HEH

noah

LJ appears to be completely unhinged. I'm gonna take a shower!

davod

There is a reason Larry Johnson doesn't get lot of hits.

clarice

I was hoping for a field trip to a place with tastier fare. BTW he's been riding on that few years at the CIA for lob enough. I take it that's because the press finds quotes from an ex-DOS staffer noot as sexy..Are he and McGovern the only exes in their rolodex? Have they been cut off from google as a cost saving measure?

clarice

******LoNG enough******Not, not noot..

Patton

It should be very instructive that this left wing, nutso, windbag is the go to guy whenever the press needs a quote.

Who was it that talked about that 'hard working' press......yeah right.

SunnyDay

He's gotten some of those "you talk too much"letters.

flenser

Larry also blogs at something called tmpcafe. It's the offical home for credentialled moonbats.

SunnyDay

Do I have to actually read there? I promise I will reload his page a few times while I read something else, OK?

Al

Sorry - just the memory of Larry Johnson's 4-point play against the Pacers in the '99 playoffs still hurts.

MayBee

You know, I'd really like to send his post to NRO media blog to help dispel the notion that Mary McCarthy stalled under Bush because she was regarded suspiciously as a Clinton appointee. The man clearly says she was a bad manager, which seems reason enough for one's managerial career to stall.

But can one be a good source and unhinged all at the same time? The NYTs thinks so, of course....they just don't mention the unhinged part.

Rick Ballard

OK, I made the trip. Where's my JOM merit badge?

topsecretk9

I've never heard "trog" before...is it a Larry special?

windansea

new post at scary larry's called Mary McCarthy's Choice

by
Ray McGovern

next up...Rand Beers

windansea

OK, I made the trip. Where's my JOM merit badge?

you have to post to get a merit badge...if larry replies to you in all capps and calls you an asshole then you get a special JOM Ranger patch

flenser

As somebody mentioned over there, its scary and depressing to think that sombody with his obvious "issues" and limitations could survive and prosper within the CIA.

I've seen anonymous lefty trolls who displayed more integrity and maturity.

ordi

I love Larry's photo on his blog. He is standing on the OUTSIDE of the WH. That should tell us something.

Rick Ballard

Top,

I believe that trog is Moronic for troglodyte. I've never actually had occasion to study Moronic but occasional visits to certain sites have given me limited exposure to some common usages. Come to think of it, I doubt that any sentient being has actually studied Moronic. Fluency is probably hereditary - if one member of the family stalk is fluent, all are.

Cecil Turner

I never get a merit badge.

BTW, I admit being surprised about something: Larry Johnson, CIA expert and source that launched a thousand Times disinformation articles had a grand total of four years at CIA? That's about the equivalent of a corporal . . . (not that a corporal isn't necessarily a good source, but that wasn't the impression I got from the stories).

topsecretk9

--As somebody mentioned over there, its scary and depressing to think that sombody with his obvious "issues" and limitations could survive and prosper within the CIA.--

IIRC he was only at the CIA a couple years...that is what is so "trog" and sicko of Larry -- his ego requires he be billed as an expert of which he spent very little time.

topsecretk9

--I never get a merit badge.--

You get one now, for beating me to the 4 year expert!

Rick Ballard

Windansea,

I did post. Then I switched keyboards (the one I used is now sitting in a bucket of bleach). Then I showered and now I'm back. I'll never know from personal observation as to whether or not Mr. Johnson replied.

I still want my merit badge - others may try for the Ranger tab, the cost in bleach and time is too high for me.

Dr. Weevil

'No Quarter', eh? Somehow reminds me of the song "Here's a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares".

windansea

and here is Rand..right on cue

The fired official, Mary O. McCarthy, “categorically denies being the source of the leak,” one of McCarthy’s friends and former colleagues, Rand Beers, said Monday after speaking to McCarthy. Beers said he could not elaborate on this denial and McCarthy herself did not respond to a request for comment left by NEWSWEEK on her home answering machine.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12466719/site/newsweek

that's tough to square with reports that she confessed to discussing classified info with several reporters

maybe she is pulling a Russert

windansea

I still want my merit badge - others may try for the Ranger tab, the cost in bleach and time is too high for me.

I'll let you know...after I made this post

**thanks for all the lovely quotes Larry...they will really spice up the article!**

he stopped posting in ALL CAPS MORONIC so maybe only Tom and Sue will get the Ranger patch

Rick Ballard

“categorically denies being the source of the leak”

If you were looking at the potential for ten years in Stony Lonesome, what would you say? Tricky locution though - what's the difference between being a 'source' and giving 'confirmation'? As someone else mentioned, maybe she's an 'I heard that, too' source.

If Priest said she wasn't her 'source' then I really, really think that a warrant is in order for Ms. Priest's records.

larwyn

"He's gotten some of those "you talk too much"letters....Sunnyday

Wow, does he admit that on his blog?

Squiggler posted the link just as I was ready to turn in:

NYT "Moves Signal Tighter Secrecy Within C.I.A."

As I try to make habit of going to bed on positive note:

Can dreams come true?
Could this be Larry?

Moves Signal Tighter Secrecy Within C.I.A.
By SCOTT SHANE and MARK MAZZETTI

Yet another agency retiree, who has in the past received warning letters from the C.I.A. after occasionally publishing articles without seeking approval, said he had recently gotten a far more strongly worded letter. This one informed him that a file had been opened to document his transgressions that could be forwarded to the Justice Department, he said.

Posted by: larwyn | April 24, 2006 at 12:18 AM

Lots of VIPS to choose from.

Shame that the "journalists"

SCOTT SHANE and MARK MAZZETTI

don't think we have a "right to

know".

Posted by: larwyn | April 24, 2006 at 12:41 AM

Shall I take these over and ask the questions?

Shall I risk Old Betsy's 97 Gateway's innards?

Please advise. Opportunities to earn badges or otherwise severly limited lately.

JohnH

Holy cow!! Even the CIA are just chanting the leftie bumper sticker slogans. They don't know anything!!

And on the local front, I read in the Pasadena Star News that the long-time LA Times restaurant critic is a former CIA agent!! Guess what he was doing all those years overseas?

I always thought the point of the CIA was to protect America!! At least we have dedicated Federal Prosecutors working tirelessly to keep us safe. Oh, wait...

brenda taylor

hey dont forget val and larry went to spy schooltogether.my guess is there both loosers.

MayBee

The CIA- Protecting Americans everywhere from a bad meal.

I actually have a CIA cookbook. I'm going to look at it differently now.

windansea

McCarthy's lawyer, Ty Cobb, told NEWSWEEK this afternooon that contrary to public statements by the CIA late last week, McCarthy never confessed to agency interrogators that she had divulged classified information and "didn't even have access to the information" in The Washington Post story in question.

After being told by agency interrogators that she may have been deceptive on one quesiton during a polygraph, McCarthy did acknowledge that she had failed to report contacts with Washington Post reporter Dana Priest and at least one other reporter, said a source familiar with her account who asked not to be identified because of legal sensitivities. McCarthy has known Priest for some time, the source said.

newsweek article linked above

topsecretk9

McCarthy's lawyer, Ty Cobb

Interesting, she lawyered up with " John Huang's" oh ye of Clinton campaign contributions

PeterUK

"There is a reason Larry Johnson doesn't get lot of hits"

They have taken away his 00 prefix.
BTW what a welter of nasoproctology,"Gee Larry,you're wonderful,can I strke your gun?"

topsecretk9

" John Huang's" -- attorney

PeterUK

"Mary McCarthy, is an old acquaintance. I hasten to add that I do not consider her a friend. She was my immediate boss in 1988-89 and was instrumental in my decision to leave the CIA and take a job at the State".

Presumably the cock crowed thrice as he was writing this.

windansea

LOL...there's a scary larry quote in the newsweek article too...I guess Rand and Larry are the only Intel guys in the MSM rolodex...this article is just what you would expect from Newsweak

Dwilkers

Hey! Field Trip and I didn't know. I didn't have a note from my mom anyway.

That guy's blog is deranged. I read through some of it yesterday when someone linked it up. Seems pretty pointless to talk to them.

brenda taylor

when i hear newsweek i think cooper, for some reason it sounds like there linning up a defense.

brenda taylor

wonder how nany are going to line uo for marys defense fund. love it.

SunnyDay

Yes, he said he got the "talk too much" letters, Can't remember where it was - I have read soooo many places about this. But he was identified in what I read. maybe I'll come across it again.

BritAm

I've never heard "trog" before...is it a Larry special?

Looks like he misspelled Trogg.

(There is a reason that I chose BritAm as my nom-de-plume.)

windansea

for some reason it sounds like there linning up a defense.

copy that...

they are circling the wagons with all the usual characters....this could be the big one ELizabeth...

Sue

Well, I definitely deserve the badge. I've been called sweetheart (I don't think he meant it in a nice way), moron, asshole, AQ operative...that should earn me my badge. All the while taking it on the chin. Never once retaliating with ad homs (not my style, dang it).

Rick Ballard

Mr Uk,

I was thinking more of Michael kissing Fredo but your metaphor works a bit better.

There is definitely a noticeable stench of fear hanging in the air. Considering the depth of conviction among the possible conspirators it's very understandable. They will not hang together which may make hanging them separately a bit easier.

MayBee

Sue- you and Larry have a Hepburn and Tracy thing about you.

ordi

Sue,

With him calling you sweetheart, you may have a great case for sexual harrassment! LOL

brenda taylor

why didnt david the big mouth gregory report on mrs, mccarthy amazing how him and obviously chrissy matthews are not covering this story.

windansea

Sue- you and Larry have a Hepburn and Tracy thing about you.

nah...more like Gable & Monroe
in The Misfits

PeterUK

Mr Ballard,
If ever ther were a distancing phrase,""Mary McCarthy, is an old acquaintance. I hasten to add that I do not consider her a friend". The qualifier is "hasten",Larry is about to walk by on the other side.

It might be a good idea to cultivate some of the more "fragile ones",rather than attacking them and driving them deeper into the herd.

Neo

That Newswek story make Ms. McCarthy out as "small potatoes."
Of course, if the investigators come back and say that it was Jay Rockefeller in the tea room with the curtain rod .. Oh sorry for the "Clue" digression.

topsecretk9

Pete UK

Didya see Hitch's latest? (from today?)

Syl

LOL

I love you peeps!

MayBee

Sorry, Sue. I'm a bitter woman since I lost Joe to Hamsher.

Did I miss something? Hairs went up..must know.

windansea

Sorry, Sue. I'm a bitter woman since I lost Joe to Hamsher.

ok...so now we got sex, spies,
& secrets...what's the Hollywood ending?

topsecretk9

Oh, nevermind. Got it. (didn't read the "Joe" part)

vnjagvet

The backtracking is interesting. Her access to the information must be a matter of record.

It would be unusual that she would be fired (she did not resign like Libby did) without corroborating evidence. Libby was a political appointee serving at the pleasure of the VP and President. As a civil servant, McCarthy has certain appeal rights. Is there any information that she is pursuing them?

And, BTW, how long before our buddy Lanny Davis shows up?

PeterUK

Windandsea,
"War is hell",but somebody has to do it.

Sue

Not Lanny Davis, please...anyone but Lanny Davis...

windansea

"War is hell",but somebody has to do it.

all's fair in love and war

topsecretk9

--And, BTW, how long before our buddy Lanny Davis shows up?-- as soon as that special AP reporter --what's his name? -- shows up...Lanny's fingerprints.

topsecretk9

I think the walk back is just a PR offensive, and a certain confidence if she "professes" innocence the press will carry her water...which of course they will because I bet many of them are recipients of Mary's leaks.

Think of this as "it's the charge, not the conviction" in reverse.

Nash

um, TM, ready to walk back the "let's support everyone who is saying that McCarthy should be frog-marched to prison in ankle bracelets?"

Looks like the Newsweek revelation indicates you got a bad case of premature conclusionitis. Care to wait a few weeks and see where this goes?

Hmmm?

Patrick R. Sullivan

From the header of LJ's blog, for the JOM Great Moments in Self-Awareness trophy:

' We don't care if you agree or disagree with us. We only care that you think about what we write.'

BECAUSE WE WON'T THINK ABOUT IT AT ALL, AND SOMEONE OUGHT TO...

windansea

The backtracking is interesting. Her access to the information must be a matter of record.

Vman...you remind me of Veeger's voice in the first Star Trek movie

the carbon based units must die....

Sue

Nash,

You mean like you did over the Plame outing? ::grin:: Not bloody likely on my part. I aim to strike while the iron's still hot. She can go to the same location Libby has to go to in order to get her reputation back.

MayBee

Andrea Mitchell yesterday said something along this same line, right? That she only verified what Dana Priest already knew.

1-Does that mean Andrea talks to Rand Beers? When did that start?

2-Why is it ok for someone to even verify still-classified information without approval to do so? That's still a bad, bad thing.

topsecretk9

Bottom right column is where you can email Mark Hosenball and Michael Isikoff inform/tell them about VIPS the group Larry is a founding member!

says to

"E-MAIL NEWSWEEK
Use this form to send a complaint, compliment or suggestion about our coverage "

topsecretk9

I am printing Nash's comment

--Care to wait a few weeks and see where this goes?--

Sue

Hey Peter,

My favorite part in the header over there is Wanting some Hardball but tired of a host that tosses NERF balls? Talk about irony...his idea of hardball is deleting posts that challenge him. ::grin::

Nash

I am printing Nash's comment

You like me! You really like me!

windansea

You like me! You really like me!

trog....tricks are for kids

Sue,
If he tried that mode of address with field operatives,he would end up with both legs in casts, they don't like desk jockeys.
He forgets the number one rule, hard men don't talk tough,as for Little Charlie,he definitely is a leg end.

topsecretk9

--You like me! You really like me!--

I told you so.

topsecretk9

Larry and Tom Christian...have a similar style..hmmm

Nash

Having been labeled here as the original host of the orifice that has medium-sized mammals flying out of it, I am qualified to tell you,

windansea,

that you are proof that a sense of humor in wingers is inherited on a single gene, and that if through some unfortunate inbreeding one of you gets a double copy, well, too much of a good thing and all that, what?

Have Sue explain it to you. Slowly.

MayBee

TS- you are playing a dangerous game, girlfriend. You know that is going to be googled and JOM will be getting a visitor.
Should we start the countdown?

topsecretk9

Bite? Meet butt - those pesky waivers

THE MCCARTHY INVESTIGATION -- WHAT NEXT? [Byron York]
NBC News is reporting that Mary McCarthy, while acknowledging that she had contacts with the Washington Post's Dana Priest, denies revealing any classified information. What now? Well, using the template established in the Plame/Fitzgerald investigation, the next steps seem clear. First, the Justice Department will begin an investigation. Then, McCarthy, like Lewis Libby, Karl Rove, and many White House staffers, will sign a waiver releasing Priest from any pledge of confidentiality. Next, prosecutors will subpoena Priest to tell prosecutors what McCarthy told her. Then, if Priest argues that McCarthy's waiver was coerced, McCarthy will assure Priest that it was given willingly and give her blessing to Priest's testimony. And then Priest, like Judith Miller, Matthew Cooper, and others, will -- under oath -- tell prosecutors precisely what McCarthy said.

Right?

topsecretk9

Well, actually Maybee...since it's a link to TM I doubt it does anything...but a meeting would be....I'll stop

Squiggler

Rick ... way up on the thread ... I want my merit badge too ... I posted, but like you, I didn't stick around long enough to see if there was a response and I have no intention of going back to find out.

After reading the Times article this morning, I have to say that I am shocked and that doesn't happen easily. I'm shocked at how many former CIA agents are working against the United States over in foreign countries. I went to bed thinking that here I am, a person who follows this stuff pretty closely, and yet I had no idea that certain stories that seemed weird at the time really were weird because it was our own agents making things weird in order to help our enemies. Actually, more than shocked, I felt sick.

azredneck

I'm going to let you guys have the merit badges. Last time I asked LJ to clarify one of his lies, I got a personal e-mail (so he didn't have to answer on screen I guess). Now that's both 'spooky' and scary! I still peek out my window as I visit mootbat sites for someone in dark glasses after midnite!

Squiggler

If we post on these collaborators sites does that automatically put our names and domains in the NSA cue as potentials to be watched closely?

windansea

Have Sue explain it to you. Slowly.

sounds yummy....sue?

AJStrata

Ray McGovern on the News Hour on PBS - introduced as a VIPerS

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/fedagencies/jan-june06/leaks_4-24.html

I will see if I have the energy to blog on it later

Sue

AZRedneck,

Me too. He likes the personal email thingy. Mine was full of 'you moron' and 'buy a clue' and 'what kind of an idiot are you'. And I swear, all I asked him was did he still believe Iraq had something to do with the Oklahoma City Bombing, as he stated when Jayna Davis' book came out. ::grin::

windansea

to sue or not to Sue

topsecretk9

--Last time I asked LJ to clarify one of his lies, I got a personal e-mail--

Raise your hand anyone who has received a threatening and/or rude name calling email by Larry

anyone else?

LARRy Johnson

BRING IT ON FOLKS. THANKS FOR THE EXPOSURE. TRULY. YOU ARE THE BEST. FACED WITH SUCH BRILLIANT LOGICIANS I'M JUST IN AWE OF THE BRILLIANT MENTAL FIREPOWER YOU BRING TO THESE TOPICS. ONE THINKS OF YOU AND ALL ONE CAN SAY IS, "SALIERI".

[Can we settle for "sayonara"? TM]

topsecretk9

oh and now TM -- are the emails in ALL CAPS TOO?

Squiggler

Think about who has been the most vocal against the NSA surviellance of calls to and from terrorists. Who knew that a whole portion of the ex-CIA employee list and even some still there have close ties to terroists outside their official agency or spy duties?

Syl

Sue to Nash:

You mean like you did over the Plame outing? ::grin:: Not bloody likely on my part. I aim to strike while the iron's still hot. She can go to the same location Libby has to go to in order to get her reputation back.

On a roll, Sue!! Hot damn!

Sue

Explain what? I must have missed something.

Daddy

I am amazed that everyone here at JOM, plus in the MSM, is missing the real "Big Story".

If I understand it correctly, this gal McCarthy was a GS employee, right? And all reports indicate she was fired, right? This is both preposterous and impossible. A GS employee getting fired!!!???

Surely they must be having one heck of a snowball fight in Hell right about now.

Sue

Well bloody hell...and here I've been under the impression we were already bringing it on. ::grin:: So much so Mr. Johnson deleted the posts. Nerf balls anyone?
