Jodi

I wish you hadn't said that.

I dunno, clarice, according to Robertson, *THWACK*ing might be perverted enough to get us hit by the Wrath Of God again. Please be prudent... ;-)

Potted Plant

I spent all night Saturday night on this story, was the first to post the map, only to see Michelle Malkin pick it up and then get all the links and trackbacks. Same with the first announcement of the arrests. Potted Plant or Rodney Dangerfield? Anyway, there is a press conference at 11:30 am. They clamped a lid on this story and as of now it is being downplayed by the FBI. I'm not buying it. We were stationed at the Naval Weapons Station for 3 years and it would definitely be a very high value target. It is also one of the most secure bases I've been on including all the 26 years we were active duty.

See I can't even link to myself and get it right.

This is highly speculative but if there is an ammunition dump and a nuclear sub overhaul facility, someone might have been trying to make a radioactive mess.

Who'd put an ammunition dump next to nuclear subs? Oh, I get it. It was a trap.

Kim..I spent 20 years working on Nuclear Subs.. The containment of a westinghouse reactor used in the boats is in little to no danger of being breached by an explosion
from outside the reactor. Even if the ammo dump completely exploded nearby..the reactor world be completely safe..The Reactor sitting at the bottom of the atlantic Ocean from the SSN 593 Thresher sinking 10 april 1963 still has not leaked any noticable nuclear fuel.
The Marines would not let these jokers even get close enough to a sub to do anything damaging anyway..Deadly force is authorized..The funnest thing i ever saw was when we were doing some repairs to the 646 topside docked at Mare Island. when Greenpeace tried to drive thier little rubber boats closeby with protest signs flying high... In seconds at least a half dozen shotguns and M-16's were trained on them..They turned around instantly and sped away at full speed..we were laughing like crazy..but this was 10 years prior to the Cole..Nobody gets close now and lives.

Yeah, it was just a thought. Still, an explosion near a nuclear facility might cause a hell of a political and economic mess. Those two towers in New York weren't worth a trillion dollars but that's what taking them down cost. And it's classic tactics to target ammunition dumps.

Gotta get the torpedoes and missiles from somewhere . . . and it's better to have an ammo dump than drive them from another facility.

Potted Plant or Rodney Dangerfield

Heh. Life ain't fair, and Malkin is cuter. Nice site BTW.

The whole point in possible terrorist attacks is not that the potential targets are vulnerable, but that the terrorists THINK that they are. I'm amazed that the government has been downplaying this.

Seems the two USF pranksters have caught the eye of someone...
