The once-boring Bob Herbert is now so hip he is not only reading blogs, he is also reading the comments and then offering them as serious evidence in support of whatever stray point he is making. His new Clinton basher draws fire from MyDD:
Right. I could point out that the email has been around for months, or that Andrew Sullivan has used Obama's full name while trying to praise him, but I'll just leave it at this: A columnist for the New York Times is basing his point on a comment left on a blog.
Brendan Nyhan is also critical:
Memo to pundits: Stop quoting random web commenters. You can find a crazy comment on any blog -- it just doesn't prove anything.
FWIW, Herbert was quoting an ABC News blog post from last December; presumably he stumbled across it while researching his column.
Well. Gail Collins, Maureen Dowd, and now Bob Herbert have written Clinton-bashers.
Krugman still loves the couple, though.
I'll leave you with that image.
