With all the follow-up and hand-wringing about Obama's "bitterly clinging to their guns and religion" comment, where is the process story titled "What's The Meta With Kansas?"
I've been out of the country for a while. but allow me to say that I am ashamed of the whole bunch of you posters here at Just One Minute. Here it is almost a week after the debate in which George Stephanopolis and Charlie Gibson were excoriated by 45 whack-jobs and "a journalist" or two, and not a single one of you JOM'ers has offered a positive suggestion to help those two unfortunates deal with the tumult surrounding them. You must be bitter and consumed and clinging to economic hardship and your Ayn Rand is all I can fathom. Well I'll not be a party to it Ladies and Gentleman, nuh unh. I'm here to offer positive solutions to relieve the plight of those 2 blokes at the center of the maelstrom. So please advise those unfortunate gentlemen that if they would kindly each step into Central Park after Midnight, tie a rope around their testacles (if they have any) and attach it to their neck, and then slip a little meta-amphetamine into any pocket of their choice, that if they would simply announce that fact to whichever New York Policeman happens to stroll on by, that they would instantly cease being a topic of conversation to any TV, Radio or Print Journalist in the free world and would immediately become invisible. Personally here in Japan I'm on a quest for Richard, but it's tough helping a guy who's been petarded on his own hoist.
I'm thinking of writing a screen play about a bitter, paleo-connish woman who gives up her Bible and her guns and goes to Africa to hang out with lions. The working title is "Cling Free."
You know, it may be hard to find a candidate who doesn’t belong to a church whose leader delivers eyebrow-singing speeches on the evils of America and also built a house Jim Bakker would approve, and it may be hard to find a candidate who doesn’t move with ease in the same social circles as some people who bombed the Pentagon, but it can’t be that hard to find one who doesn’t do both.
Thanks, Peter. As a certified (certifiable?) Anglophile with deep ancestral roots in England, I salute you and your country. I hope the St. George's flags are flying in force.
Reaching back to the "Lexis Maven" post's comments:
How about a courtroom drama featuring Ben's Hanoi Hilton guard trying to torpedo Senator McCain's campaign with allegations of Christmas cookie theft? In the tense climax, Jane presents documents proving the guard to be an Obama relative providing false testimony for a promised cabinet-level job in the Obama administration.
The light is starting to come on for the media that the super delegates, who haven't decided thus far, are probably going to go with the popular vote winner.
I believe Obama and his supporters are left 'clinging' to their sense of inevitability.
She's 200k back, but who would have thought that a popular vote margin in guam might sink their campaign.
My question this morning is what's the "meta" with B_O. He seemed off his game in his speech. I thought Chicago machine politicos were made of tougher stuff. Time to stop clinging to your supposed inevitability, B_O, and realize you're in a street fight. You're not in Cambridge anymore showing how much you know about proper citation form on the Hahhhhhvud Law Review!
I've gotten to the point where I really don't get Obama's rhetoric any more TC. I swear the man finds the nomination process a "distraction", and if elected will rid us of the burden.
Remember all those early fears of an Obama assassination? He really seems to have fallen a peg or two since then.
I guess he has decided to play Dewey to HRC's Truman, Jane. Someone should tell him that Dewey lost that contest.
Then again, maybe B_O's main talent is giving a good scripted speech, and he doesn't have the stomach for a rough and tumble campaign. If he does somehow become our POTUS, I hope he has a quick education in how the world really works before he has his meetings with the Iranians.
Tom Maguire, I have been getting virus alerts in the past week from clicking on your website. Please do something about it because I cannot live without JOM in the morning.
There needs to be a movie, call it Cling Film

This focus on the "bitterly clinging" comment is just a distraction from the REAL issues of this campaign ... like Rev. Wright.

You couldn't figure out how to fit it in a post so you decide to plant it here all by itself.
Desperate men do desperate things.
And apparently desperate bloggers do especially desperate things.

I'm working on the screenplay now. The working title is "White men can't hope, 'cause their too bitter!"
The most memorable line is, "Changes? We don't need no stinkin' changes!"

Lilek's summarizes it:

One, okay. But two?
Sorry, Senator.
Next?

I just saw that the dems got their wish, as McCain has agreed to matching funds.
Seeing as Obama is extroidinarily vulnerable to 527's, more money will be available for agit-prop.
It would be like increasing the funding for swift-vets of 04, 8 fold.

Obama is just a lad, not ready for prime time and certainly not ready to be the United States President.

Gia,
May I suggest using Netscape 9.0 - it seems to have some fairly good crud filters built in.
It is no longer supported and may be history in another year or two but right now it is OK.

Thanks Porchlight and Elliott.
I see the game goes on Hillary and Barry, like the movie "The Duel".

Many thanks, M. Simon. Netscape is no longer supported now but I downloaded Flock (based on Firefox) and got no virus alerts.
