HRC 55.5
B_O 42.6
Scattered 1.90

In general, my prediction is that there will be enough of a win for HRC to give both her and Elmer Gantry Gore continued hope.

vinman

"B_O" -- I smiled.

Thomas Collins

http://insidehighered.com/news/2008/04/22/penn

Looks as if Pennsylvania college students are generally in B_O's camp, but with some dissent (see above link).

Danube of Thought

Hillary by eleven.

Jane

Hillary by 13.

Syl

Hillary by the number of inches she can pull Obama off the ground by his ear.

glasater

"Hillary by 13

Sheesh--Not if you're listening to Fox News. The first reports do not sound great for RW. Someone please tell me otherwise.

Tina

Drudge is reporting this in big red headlines:

EXIT POLL DRAMA 5 PM ET: CLINTON 52, OBAMA 48

Charlie (Colorado)

Please God, make it stop.

Charlie (Colorado)

Remember that Obama always does better in the exit polls.

I'd put even money on Hillary by 15.

Tina

Drudge is reporting this in big red headlines:

EXIT POLL DRAMA 5 PM ET: CLINTON 52, OBAMA 48

EXIT POLL DRAMA 5 PM ET: CLINTON 52, OBAMA 48

Tina

Sorry about the multiple posts....haven't a clue how that happened!!

centralcal

Go Hillary!

(gag - never thought I'd write/say that)

Ann

Hillary by 7

vnjagvet

Hillary 56-44.

Porchlight

Yes, glasater, per Charlie, I wouldn't worry too much about exit polls at this stage. I think Obama was up in the early NH polls. (Not sure about OH or TX.)

I would imagine the Operation Chaos voters are not overly likely to participate in exit polls, either.

Rick Ballard

Red Witch - 53-47

Tina

7:48PM - With just over 10 minutes until polls close, a PA Common Pleas Court judge has rejected a request to extend Philly polling hours. (source FR)

windansea

Sheesh--Not if you're listening to Fox News. The first reports do not sound great for RW. Someone please tell me otherwise.

first results will come from Philly and Pitt which are Obama strongholds

read Politico's 5 things to watch for in PA and you will understand

Ann

Have you noticed that the political pundits on MSNBC always talk about "Campaign MisSteps" or "So and So MisSpoke. It is never about a candidate's integrity or character.

Rev. Wright was a campaign misstep!! Puh-leeze

Tina

Polls are now closed: Brit Hume announces exit polls are very close...no winner announced...too close to call.

Elliott

Geraghty had the opposite of Drudge's numbers. However, after seeing the demographic breakdown of the exit polling, I'd say it will be a good night for Clinton.

Jane

I just had dinner with an ex MA governor (not Romney) who said his sources going in showed Obama up by 4. Say it ain't so.

glasater

Thanks windansea--

Here is thoughtful blog by a young guy. He talks about exit polls and has some pretty interesting statistics.

Jane

Glasater,

Brendan loy is the Hurricane guy. He's the blogger who correctly predicted Katrina. As far as I know no one else did. At the time he was in law school. He is currently clerking for a Judge in Tennessee. He got that job as a result of his blog.

Elliott

Jane,

That's about what Geraghty had and the fact that Fox isn't giving us a horserace number leads me to believe that Obama was the exit polls' victor. From what they have released, though, such an outcome seems unlikely unless the turnout among his supporters was epic.

Ann

Chris Matthews was complaining that Hillary owes Penn and alot of other people working for her large sums of money. He added that she still owes Joe Wilson for plane fare. BOO HOO!

michaelt

Fox just called it for Hillary.

Cecil Turner

Drudge still has 52-48 as the exit polls (and claims the last batch didn't change things). I'd also expect Obama to do slightly better on the exit polls than Clinton--though I admit no real basis for it--just because of the advantage in the younger/male/urban demographics. If I was guessing, might be 54-46.

The initial poll results are 65-35 Hillary, which has to be driving the Obama crowd to the Alka Seltzer (even though it's based on 0% of the returns and essentially meaningless). Now it's 60-40 with 1% . . . still meaningless.

glasater

With one per cent of the polls

reporting--Clinton 65%
Obama 35%

According to Fox.

So if the theories of Politico are correct--it could a very good night for Hillary.

Whew! I can breathe.

And Brendan seems like a pretty level headed guy.

windansea

Interviews with voters leaving the polls showed almost six in 10 were women and three in 10 were age 65 or over.

this will be a double digit win for Hill, maybe 15%

centralcal

Okay, I am gonna ask - Is Casey, Jr. a little mentally challenged? I still can't believe he was elected Senator in PA and I don't care who his father is (or was).

Go Hillary! Go all the way to the convention!

centralcal

Where is Clarice? Jane, anyone?

Porchlight

off?

Ann

From Malkin:

Bill Bennett joking about Hillary and Obama pandering to working-class voters: “She did shots better than he bowled.”

Porchlight

Yes, Clarice, join us! Jane, too. Come on ladies, I laid out a bottle of (red) Zinfandel for the evening. It ain't a JOM primary w/o y'all.

Ann

Ditto that!

clarice

I'm here..Just waiting for something interesting re the election--I think Fox suspects she's had a HUGE victory......While I was waiting I started oddly obsessing about getting an Airstream Sprinter..It is dynamite.

Tina

Major Garret reporting from Clinton HQ and states that the Clinton camp is not reacting to her being called the winner. Major says for some reason they are watching another channel/network (snicker). Clearly, Clinton camp is watching the so-called Clinton News Network -- for why? Who knows. Both NBC and FNC called CLinton the winner back when, but CNN hasn't yet.

Large clapping in the background -- I guess that means that CNN finally cuaght up with the "real" news!

Brit Hume just said something like: Maybe the Clinton Camp will wake up now and turn to the network that reports the real news! HA. Big time slap at CNN by Brit.

hit and run

Porchlight:
I laid out a bottle of (red) Zinfandel for the evening.

Well, that does it. I'm heading to the wine rack. Do NOT tell mrs hit and run. Hopefully she's asleep upstairs. Recycling day tomorrow, so I can finish it off, slip it in the can, and she'll never know.

OK, go Hillary!

JM Hanes

I'm just hoping Hill makes it into double digits, but I'm not holding my breath. I read somewhere that the bitter small town vote trails in toward the end of the count, though, so the final tally could be a long time coming. You may want to have another bottle at the ready, Porchlight.

Porchlight

Hi, Clarice. My mom's parents honeymooned in an Airstream...well, okay, they kept house in it for fully a year after getting married. Airstreams are badass (to use the TX term). Some friends of ours in the neighborhood just bought a vintage Airstream to use as a sort of guest house on their property - they can use it for travel, too, of course.

If I were retired and had the dough, I'd buy an RV in a heartbeat. I can't think of anything more fun.

Jane

I'm here too - but after 4 bottles of wine on Sunday, I'm sticking to grey goose. Yeah I know, you thought I'd say water or something like that.

Hillary is making a comeback. Too bad her supporters (Terry McAuliffe, her husband etc are so obnoxious.

JM Hanes

Hit:

Can you believe Obama apparently has more important things on his calendar than a debate in NC? I am bitterly disappointed!

centralcal

Obnoxious - you got it, Jane!

I have been on many a long road trip in an Airsteam. There is nothing like taking a shower while cruising down the interstate! A real feeling of superiority (well, at least clean for a nice dinner on the road).

Motor homes really do rock! But, only if someone else is doing the driving!

Ann

Chuck Todd just said that Obama still leads in pledged delegates after tonight. Hillary has to earn 80% of the remaining pledges.

It's your Party and I'll laugh if I want too, laugh if I want too!!!

Porchlight

JMH, I do have a bottle or three in reserves. Hope it doesn't come to that - but it could.

Hit, I celebrated Earth Day by not taking out the recycling - I'm trying to clink these empties into the bin very quietly.

Jane, I knew you'd never say water! Sounds like you had a great Patriot's Day weekend.

clarice

Thanks, PL. Actually, I think it;s the interstate model I prefer. My husband really needs to take more time away from his office. He generally hates driving places, but air travel is getting worse and worse and these Class B's are dynamite..Basically retrofitted vans. You can stay in hotels along the way if you want, but we can take our cat with us, and oddly lots of the nicest places have dreadful accommodations in which case you have your own to retire to.

Clarence Thomas is a big rv'er ==I have to talk to him about this the next time I see him.

glasater

Wow! Rove says black vote for O--55% R--45% so far.

She's doing better with the black vote than expected.

hit and run

Jane:
I'm sticking to grey goose.

OK, Jane -- but just as long as you know...

For example, Dr Pepper is a Republican soda. Pepsi-Cola and Sprite are Democratic. So are most clear liquors, like gin and vodka, along with white wine and Evian water. Republicans skew toward brown liquors like bourbon or scotch, red wine and Fiji water.

You just might be a Democrat.

glasater

Clarice--having a potty inside going along and on the road is a real plus.

clarice

I like vodka, too. What do you think that means?

Porchlight

Clarice, sounds like a great idea. I was just going to mention Clarence Thomas - I think it's great that he and his wife not only RV around the country, but take the time to talk to people they meet in their travels. My dream is to run into them in a Wal-Mart parking lot someday.

hit and run

JMH:
I am bitterly disappointed!

I just hope he makes another campaign stop here in Grinsburrah. I wanna catch him eating breakfast.

Jane

Hit,

You already made me cry once today, so cut it out.

Porchlight, it was a good weekend, but I rarely drink that much and it nearly killed me.

clarice

Just look at this--what a concept!

http://www.roamingtimes.com/a/consumer/2008-airstream-interstate.asp>Airstream rocks

hit and run

Clarice:
I like vodka, too. What do you think that means?

Actually, I am a fan of vodka too. Don't really have it all that often.

But I have fond memories of Grand Cayman -- the tequila ran out and all we had left was vodka.

OK, I lie. I really don't have any memories past the tequila running out and pouring that first glass of vodka.

But I am told by reliable sources that I had fun!

hit and run

Jane:
You already made me cry once today, so cut it out.

Ugh. Yeah. I've cried quite a bit myself lately.

centralcal

Clarice, you will love every moment spent in your Airstream (if you get one). Hotels, B&B's, etc. are only wanted if the climate is oppressive (hot, humid, or really stormy). Otherwise, you will never want another hotel room again. Trust me on that.

No matter what your travel plan, you can stop and enjoy lunch along side the roadway, or nap, or a side trip excursion. You can dress for a fine dinner out of your coach and return, knowing it is almost like your own private suite.

clarice

HEH, Hit.. Listen--why not pitch a book where a couple of bloggers decide they need to travel the country in an airstream and see if you can find a publisher who'll foot the bill for it--you and Jane and I can test which drink goes best with rv'ing.

Ann

Operation Chaos Update while you are drinking and driving RV's
:)

The Stylish Fashion Choice in Penn. Poll Lines: 'Operation Chaos' T-Shirts

clarice

That's what I think, centralcal.

clarice

Operation Chaos was Rush's all time best ploy.

hit and run

You know -- we were considering renting an RV for our summer trip to Idaho this year.

But gas creeping toward $4 kinda makes that less attractive.

But yeah -- a publisher foot the bill?

Brilliant!

glasater

That airstream is a beaut. There is perhaps one thing to think on and that is the sleeping situation.
The make up beds can be quite firm. Great if you like firm--not so great if you don't:-)

JM Hanes

Clarice! I've been picking up copies of Trailer Life for a couple of years now. But what I really want is a tricked out, suped up version of a gypsy wagon.

clarice

We like firm..glasater.
Hit--I've got it, let's call it "On the Road"..

Ann

Hit, I second Jane on the crying. What a story. Faith is an incredible thing. No words seemed worthy of posting, but I keep thinking what a great guy you are...as usual.

clarice

I've seen pictures of those jmh..they are fantastic.

Jane

you and Jane and I can test which drink goes best with rv'ing.

I'm in. And BTW my friend said I can have the radio gig. But now I have no idea how one does that. Anyone own talkradio for dummies?

hit and run

OK, we all chip in and Jane buys the Airstream. She heads south and picks up Clarice in DC.

Now, there are a lot of logistics to work out on the route so that we pick everyone up -- but when that route is determined, they then proceed to...well, pick everyone up.

By the time we hit Coronado and pick up DoT -- we'll be ready to head south ... way south ... until we reach windansea.

And THEN it will be a party.

TM, Jane gets to you before Clarice.

You in?

Jane

Re: the crying thing. You gotta read Hit's blog. If you follow the links, it will uplift you beyond any place you have ever been, and make you as sad as you can imagine.

clarice

Jane. that'll be so much fun. I think everyone on JOM wants to help. Maybe we could be hooked up to your puter to feed you stuff whenever you need that.

JM Hanes

Call it BlogBusters and give the Discovery Channel a call. Clearly, you guys are going to need a designated driver. That's where I come in!

hit and run

Jane:
Anyone own talkradio for dummies?

Contact Brian Maloney of radioequalizer. He's been following Air America for years.

JM Hanes

I really like Roland Martin's commentary (on CNN). He always points out some interesting piece of the puzzle, in stark contrast to the oh-so-predictable perspectives his fellow pundits always offer up.

Ann

Talk Radio and Road Trips...WooHoo!

Where is PUK? Jane, Hit and Clarice in an RV traveling the country, what would he call that? LOL

On the road again -
Just can't wait to get on the road again.
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been.
Seein' things that I may never see again
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
On the road again -
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends.
Insisting that the world keep turning our way

clarice

We can sleep in shifts--as long as jmnh is the designated driver, it's a deal.

In other news, Fox is predicted a Hill blowout--around a 15% margin--THE GAME IS ON!!

Porchlight

Hit, I just figured out what Jane and Ann were talking about. Words fail, but bless the Smiths, and you, for sharing that story with us. Simply amazing and wonderful, despite the great sadness.

clarice

***is predictING****

Jane

Now that she won.... Hillary is really insufferable isn't she?

JM Hanes

Ann:

Tteal/turquoise strikes me as a rather unusual choice, but I think it's a good color for Hill, don't you? Brings out her eyes, which is not a bad focus locus for a pol.

centralcal

Okay, Hillary is talking. Now my support for her ends! ugh!

centralcal

Back to rv-ing - no matter how high the gas, factor in air fare, hotels, restaurants on your designated trip, and it sill would probably still be a bargain.

Now,returning to our programming - HIllary won, woo hoo (yuck), but it ain't Obamamessiah!

Jane

She's a complete yuk-head. And a liar. Glad she won, but sheesh I can't stand the shrew.

clarice

The Smiths piece was truly beautiful,Hit..
Hill is unsufferable--I bet 8% of her vote was Rep spoilers at work.
Man does she owe Rendell!

JM Hanes

I loooove the guy behind Hill -- purple T-shirt and red boxing gloves. It's hysterical when he's clapping -- straight out of the Sat. morning cartoons.

centralcal

Or Clarice, she might owe Rush and his operation chaos!

Jane

Watching this speech makes you (me) really wonder why we were rooting for her - oh yeah the Messiah. Who could forget.

Jane

DId the aforementioned BO concede already?

JM Hanes

They've got a little work to do on the Yes, We Will chorus before they get to NC.

Porchlight

I like the teal, JMH. I admit to being more sympathetic to her depending on the color she's wearing. Isn't that lame?

Jane, congrats on the radio gig!

JM Hanes

Apparently, Obama was conveniently aloft when the "results" came in and is scheduled to speak at 10:45 in Indiana.

Ann

I can't get past her hair and makeup, JMH

How do they do that? She looks younger now or at least better than when she was First Lady. I think Rick is on to
something with the witch thing. It is all mirrors. And boy is she insufferable!

She really looks good in turquoise, but I hate that sofa material suit.

Jane

The democrats are in turmoil, Tee hee.

hit and run

Thanks, all, re Audrey Caroline.

...

Now, "Hill won".

OK, but I am looking at the CNN election website. She's up 8 with 75% reporting (maybe teevee has something else, something more up to date or definitive on the margin?)

The "win" is only as good as the "spin".

Double digits and she's in the clear to fight another day.

Between 7-10 and the operatives have to duke it out.

Less than 7 and it's an Obama win.

I've found myself wishing for a clear Hillary win.

But the 7-10 range would certainly create the most angst among each campaign and campaign supporters, no?

Hillary would never fold up tent -- but Obama supporters would feel emboldended to demand it.

OK, Hillary by 7. I demand it.

Rick Ballard

JMH,

I wonder if "aloft" is going to become synonomous with "hiding"? Perhaps the Air Force could give him a B-1 to use for the campaign so he can become the complete Stealth Candidate?

hit and run

BTW, Ron Paul -- 16%!!!!!

Ahead of Huckabee!!!!

81,000+ votes!!!!

Feel the R3VOLution!!!!!!

Ann

Hillary by 7. I demand it too! Wish I had bet money on it though.
