Ann

Tom, have you been drinking? :) Oh, I get it. It's some kind of April Fools Joke, right?

Soylent Red

Mmmmmm...good news for me as I will be (hopefully) spending some significant time this summer and fall in the Happy Hunting Grounds of the Mid-Atlantic Coast.

SteveMG

Joy Behar in a thong with a come-hither look?

I'll pass, thank you very much.

clarice

Stop in for a drink when you arrive,Soylent.

M. Simon

I live in that little blue dot in North Central Illinois.

Fortunately I'm married.

MayBee

Oh good. I've moved my cute husband to a low single woman population area.

bgates

Lots of good comments to that post wondering how much of the regional gender disparity is due to gays, incarcerated men, immigrant construction workers, widows....

Steve - I'm having a much harder time posting this now that I've gouged my eyes out with a USB connector. Thanks.

Barney Frank

Don't forget that a not insignificant number of the single young men out west would have little use for a surplus of single young ladies, unless perhaps they needed their hair done.

Soylent Red

Roger that Clarice. I would love to buy you a drink, and if you play your cards right, perhaps a meal.

Especially if Uncle is paying my way.

DebinNC

I think that lone blue dot in GA is near Fort Benning.

And I associate Minneapolis with such manly men as Al Franken and Garrison Keillor.

Hit,

Now you will have all "anonymous" quotes, and you get to guess who said what.

kim

Check out Waco, Texas. Why Waco? Heh, heh.

GMax

Koresh has returned to Earth and has a new cult forming? There is not much redeeming in Waco even with a large University there.

Sue

GMax,

Heh! I wondered the same thing. Why Waco?

kim

Waco has a lot of prisons.

MarkD

I didn't have to go all the way to Japan for one? Thirty years too late, but thanks for the advice.

GMax

Waco has a lot of prisons? HUH? Huntsville has a lot of prisons. Waco has Baylor University and little else but a 90 mile drive to get to DFW.

GMax

WACO is in McLennan county. My perusal of the Corrections website does not show a single unit in McLennan County. So my gut reaction seems to be supported by the research. Were you thinking of Huntsville?

kim

Marlin? Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe they are federal or private. My information is old, but why should it change much?
==================

GMax

Marlin Texas is Falls County. There is a prison there. Its a female unit though!

Soylent Red

Isn't Ft. Hood near Waco? That might bump the numbers up.

kim

Well, Gmax, I guess my info was apocryphal. I've been looking and can't confirm it. That big blue dot is Austin; Waco's is pretty small.
=============================

GMax

Ft Hood is in Killeen reasonably close. Bell County I think.

Porchlight

That big blue dot is Austin

Single male slackers/musicians!

I don't think UT makes much of a difference, since the single male students will be balanced out by single female students.

GMax

No the big blue dot represents all the techie geek males that work for Dell in Austin. Probably one of the bigger reasons why the females are staying away too!

Porchlight

Heh, Gmax. Those Dell guys are not too happy about now - maybe they'll move back East where the girls are....
