Leftism isn't a political standpoint,it is a psychopathy.

Thank PUK. I was going to ask you if there was a drug that would relieve the symptoms, but then I realized ...

GMax

Sue

The lefties all over the internet have caucused in their little cocoons and decided that Kerry lost because he failed to respond to being "swift boated". Our little troll is just giving the corollary to this line of thinking, and they really believe this nonsense.

When you point out that virtually none of what the Swift Boat Veteran for Truth said has been refuted to date, you get grousing and more deflection.

Tell them that Kerry did not respond ever because he knew what they were saying was true, and you will then get obscenities, it ruins their comfortable little created world.

Sue

The person being bashed was Kerry. If this is the strategy, then bring it on. Pictures of McCain being held POW while your side questions his honor and integrity will be good campaign fodder. Just not for your side.

Sue

While Kerry was doing his Winter Soldier tour, McCain was relaxing at the Hanoi Hilton. I didn't pick McCain as my standard bearer, but I'll damn sure defend his military record.

So if there's no backlash from these types of attacks and Obama is unscathed going into November, you'd have to admit that Obama is pretty sharp, right?

cathyf
I'm way too short tempered and an odd combination of lazy and obsessive.
Geez -- maybe we're identical twins separated at birth!
Sue

So if there's no backlash from these types of attacks and Obama is unscathed going into November, you'd have to admit that Obama is pretty sharp, right?

There will be a backlash. The middle, where you guy needs to go, won't like it. You can't win with your base. I certainly hope this is an Obama strategy. I do indeed.

eightnine2718281828mu5e

---
has been refuted to date
---

Ok, let's update this to the current situation; Clark said getting shot down wasn't a qualification for becoming president.

Go ahead and refute it.

Sue

I guess this is Obama "re-introducing himself" to America. Hope and change didn't work?

eightnine2718281828mu5e

---
There will be a backlash.
---

And if it never materializes, you'll be wrong and Obama will be right. Which would make him pretty clever.

Fair assessment?

Sue

Go ahead and refute it.

Let's see. McCain, Obama. Getting shot down over Vietnam, being held hostage for 5 years, refusing to leave when could, coming home using crutches. Organizer. Rezko. Wright. Ayers. Harvard Law Review. Yeah. Refuted.

Sue

And if it never materializes,

Means the polls didn't agree with Obama and he didn't use it. Yeah, pretty clever poll reader, your guy.

eightnine2718281828mu5e

You might not like Obama, but he's methodical.

There's no way he's trotting this out without reviewing the tape of every election in the last 30 years, itemized, collated, analyzed, and evaluated every move, every approach.

That, at the core, is who he *is*. You kid yourselves if you believe your own propaganda that there is nothing at the center of this guy.

Watch and learn, grasshopper.

clarice

cathyf:"maybe we're identical twins separated at birth! " Can we be identical twins when you're so good at math and I can't balance my checkbook? Fraternal twins maybe.

Weasely Clark going after McCain's war record is a hoot. What was it last time around? Oh, yeah, only veterans were fit for office...

From The Times UK:

The decision of France’s top chef to forsake his nationality and become a Monégasque, as the inhabitants of Monaco are known, has fuelled bitterness among affluent Frenchmen about President Nicolas Sarkozy’s failure to abolish the country’s punitive wealth tax. Alain Ducasse, whose culinary empire includes 21 restaurants in eight countries, was the latest of several French celebrities and captains of industry to avoid paying the tax by going into exile.

Maybe the French are finally catching on....

PaulL

narciso,

The Hersh article is particularly lame. Where are the trademark sensational charges?

All we get is source after source expressing concern. Classic CYA if things don't go perfectly.

The hilarious irony of a bunch of leakers complaining that the White House doesn't trust them with enough secret info--that seems to go right over Hersh's head.

Sue

Maybe you're speaking of Axelrod and whomever pulls his strings but BHO just ain't that smart--at least extemporaneously speaking-wise.

Did you catch the stunned audience in the last debate with Clinton over BHO's response when Charlie Gibson asked him about capital gains tax and how raising the rate would reduce revenue to the government?

BHO would have to do a "major sell" to those approaching social security check time--and those folks VOTE.

Charlie Gibson asked him about capital gains tax and how raising the rate would reduce revenue to the government?

Well, yeah, if someone tells me that 1+1=11, I'd be stunned to.

But he responded gracefully and resisted the urge to point out that dear old Uncle Charlie is quite daft and should stay well clear of the knife drawer.

Jane, 89 will never go away. There are some here who simply cannot control themselves from playing tit for tat with him/her. And until they stop, 89 is in cnotrol of every thread on this blog for as long as 89 wants to be.

It is not when 89 decides to move on, but when our friends here decide to move him on by ignoring him. And I think it has been shown that it ain't gonna happen.

I prefer not to provide entertainment to those who attempt to derail the process by which people here work to learn and understand.

That's rather the issue; it's not critical to me to trade insults, but I'll respond in kind to such.

Jane of course has a special place in my heart because she attacked me for showing kindness to Sara. So Jane's a rather unique sort of person since most people have a revulsion to that sort of behavior. Jane most likely has a large fly-wing collection in her basement right next to her David Berkowitz shrine.

Sue

Well, alright. Let's blame the bad economy on Bush.

Some 50,000 fewer passengers are expected to use Amsterdam Schiphol airport, one of Europe's busiest, this summer on account of a Dutch environmental tax on flights, it was reported Saturday.

On a more personal note; I know a woman who became paralyzed in an accident in her 30's and lost her husband just a few years later.

Things can go horribly wrong through no fault of our own, and I can't imagine the daily struggle your life must be; the stress alone can be debilitating, let alone any physical limitations.

I'm not a praying man, but I'll always be sensitive to your situation when responding to you in these forums; in case you haven't noticed, I can be kind of a smart-ass, so it's harder than it might seem, but feel free to kick me back in line should I stray. ;-)

You know 89, you really don't get it. People don't want you to be nice to them because you feel sorry for them. And to publicly announce that sentiment is about the most despicable thing I can even think of.

You just don't get it. And you really are incredibly offensive.

Hey guys, don't get too stressed, it is only the NY Times. They are a dinosaur, gasping their last breaths and will continue to mourn and wail and gnash their teeth, and give a faint echo of a once mighty roar.

They are becoming the past, partly because of their industry, and partly because of their own suicide pact under the helm of Pinch.

Wesley Clark in addition to his idiotic comment on McCain's military record also said McCain "lacks executive experience". Are we supposed to contrast that with Obama, who doesn't have ANY experience of ANY kind?
I can see why the 89's of the world can become brainwashed Obamabots, bullshit baffles brains, but you would think Wesley Clark would have some respect for someone else's military career and some self-respect that would prevent him from saying something that stupid.

scottl720

I think getting surviving getting shot down is a pretty goood qualification for CINC, shows good timing and mental toughness.

In fact, I think a better example is the backflip out of the cockpit on the USS Forrestal to pull a guy out of the fire,

good enough for me,

whats a 'community activist' do again?

Rick Ballard

The Lightweight Vibrator and The Three Slumlords

Chapter one

The Lightweight Vibrator tried very hard to seem like a nice young man. Everywhere he went he tried as hard as he could to talk to people and tell them whatever he thought they might want to hear to make them happy. The Lightweight Vibrator thought that making people happy was the bestest thing in the world and he also thought that giving people things for free was the bestest way ever to make them really happy.

The only problem was, the Lightweight Vibrator was far too lazy to hold a job, so he never had any of his own money to use to buy things for people to make them like him because they were getting neat free things. What to do? He couldn't hold a job and he had already borrowed as much as he could in order to buy the degree that people promised would make him happy - where could he turn?

The Lightweight Vibrator was very sad. He walked the streets of Chicago and said nice things to everyone he met but no one paid any attention to him. He thought and he thought and he thought... and then he remembered! His professors at the place where he bought his degree with borrowed money (that he still hadn't paid back) had told him about a man who became famous in Chicago for talking to people and making them happy by getting them lots of things for free. The man's name was Saul Alinsky and his professors just glowed when they used to talk about him. Then the Lightweight Vibrator remembered that Saul Alinsky was dead (and very likely in hell, although the Lightweight Vibrator didn't like to think about that). Who else could help the Lightweight Vibrator make more people like him by giving people free stuff bought with other people's money? The Lightweight Vibrator thought and thought and thought but because he was almost as dumb as he was lazy he just couldn't figure out what to do next. So he went home feeling really bad and lay down in his bed (after looking under it of course) and cried himself to sleep. During the night, the Lightweight Vibrator had a dream about all the times that he had gone to his professors and said all those things about how good they were and how much he liked them in order to make them happy, hopefully so happy that they wouldn't say anything about his shoddy work. In his dream, he asked them question after question after question so they would think he really cared about their stupid classes...

When the Lightweight Vibrators woke up in the morning, he knew just what to do. He would call his old professors and ask them who in Chicago was doing what Alinsky used to do before he died and went to Hell.

Sue:

What struck me most about the Asia Times article on Iran was how little Iranian fundamentals have changed. When the author described conspicuous consumption and endemic corruption, he could have been describing life under the Shah. The secret police are just slightly less secret these days. *89. hasn't read what grueling experience Navy fighter pilots had at Pax River; read the first chapter of the Right Stuff; just not on a full stomach. And that story was 50 years, I'm sure it's become no less safe; consider all the fighter crashes in the 'peacetime' Clinton era.

Pakistan has always been a hard target, one of the real enemies. The Brits were there for a hundred years, three wars, eighty separateincursions(Tirah, Malakand, Buner, a full fledged hunt for a minor league Bin Laden, the Fakir of Waziristan, which lasted 25 years with the subject dying confortably in bed. We see a small example of the problem with Sami Yousafsai of Newsweek; of the Yousafsai tribe; who is always able to get invited to a Taliban meet, a suicide vest fitting, a madrassah
graduation; and seems to see that as a point of privilege. I mean he's nominally
on our side, right? Now the context never supplied to that comment was at the time, that we thought we had taken out Bin Laden and he said it to take away some of his legitimacy. It is extraordinarily difficult
to take out top AQ and/or Taliban commanders. We've been able to weed out middle level figures, Al Liby, a al Masri,a Hamzi Rabia an Atef; all Egyptians or Libyans which begs the question why the Cairo bureau chief for McClatchy is always reporting on Iraq; rather than her own snake pit. Also seemingly gone is the "Jack Black" of American Jihadists, Adam Gadahn,
Of course, KSM, Al Nassiri, Bin AlS Shibh & Zubeydah were also nabbed in Pakistan, interrogated by the likes of Kirikiao &
"Deuce" Martinez, who the Times is willing
to burn for a story. And Osama's willing to give habeas corpus rights to; something un paralleled in history, and Delahunt wants to put a bullseye on Addington, the guy who tried to create a policy to deal with these
people.
