And you may find yourself in a beautiful house,

And you may ask yourself-well...
how did I get here?

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? ...am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
My god!...what have I done?
Was BHO unconscious when he recommended passage of the bill making Rezko's fraud easier to perpetrate?
"A review of senate records shows Obama played a major role in pushing through Senate Bill 1332, that led to the "Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act," which reduced the number of members on the Board from 15 to 9, making the votes much easier to rig."
Will he make a stab at "That isn't the bill I knew."?
The Rezko Obama knew introduced him to people like Auchi, helped him get a job, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for him, and bought him part of his house.
That's not anything like this Rezko.
Barack Obama has been convicted by his words of shining a spotlight on his own need for ethical reform. I encourage this young politician to take whatever steps are necessary to prevent these kinds of abuses in the future.
======================
I want every single elected official to be subject to the same rules, laws, conditions as the rest of the country.
What started me thinking was Ted Kennedy's ability to get medical care at Duke when he would be at Cape Cod Hospital under Obama's plan. I want each congressperson paying the same gas prices out of their pocket. I want Congress saddled with AA. I want each one of them to have to deal with all the laws they make. No exceptions.
I don't have a clue how to get started, anyone have any ideas?
When questioned about his lack of experience, doesn’t Canute Obama claim to have profound judgment? Did he just stumble on that judgment yesterday? He apparently has been uniformly unable to exercise any judgment regarding his closest friends, including this most recent unfortunate felon.
Jane, one thing the bastards could do is get rid of the reserved congressional parking spaces at Dulles. Every time I drive up to that place and see these empty acres of parking spaces, while the rest of us are driving around in the rain trying to find a spot, my blood boils. Oh, and maybe they could cause cigarettes and liquor to be taxed the same in D.C. as they are in Maryland and Virginia. And of course if you drive into a D.C. liquor store from VA and load up, you'll get arrested when you head back home.
"That's not anything like this Rezko."
I love it when you do that!
Jane:
McCain appears to be embracing a reform agenda, which could be a start if he realy follows through. I think the Cape Cod Hospital angle could make a really powerful soundbyte. Mr. Democratic Health Care himself, saying gov't mandated healthcare for thee but not for me, works on all kinds of levels. Captain Ed, for one, has talked about being in on a blogger conference call with McCain -- assuming McCain is still doing those, Ed might be in a position to pass the idea along if you were to email him the suggestion.
I'm okay despite a terrifying ride thru a brutal storm last night. Just tied up with a Costco run to Virginia this morning. (The parts of DC which are unsafe are rather small pockets compared to the parts that are very attractive and nice and safe.)
Don Surber blogged about that today AFTER I brought it up here. But I want something a lot bigger. I believe congress is not subject to insider trading rules. Justify that one.
DOT, before I stopped smoking I used to buy my cigarettes in Va because the taxes on them are less than they are in D.C. (In Md they are higher.) Of course with all three states being so close it is stupid to have different tax rates --you are only nabbing the poorest and most infirm who cannot make it past the local convenience store.
But you are right about liquor.D.C. has very low comparative taxes on liquor. (Buy yours at Calvert Woodley if you want to avoid the Va tax cops.Avoid Eagle just across the bridge from Va.)
2) Hold a peace rally and concert and smoke dope and drink beer and make really cool signs in protest?
Sounds like the good old days in Boulder, doesn't it Jane?
The problem I see with the idea of making the Congrefs conform to the same rules we all do is that it would have to be enacted by Congrefs. When I get my time machine built I'll go back and suggest the idea to Madison; I suspect the time machine would be easier than doing it through the legislative process now.
I know you do. That's why I'm thinking in terms of pushing McCain hard on the reform agenda -- and working on the talking points to sell it. Hypocrisy is a big one. When the chips are really down, you'll never see Kennedy letting government pick his surgeon or build windmills in his backyard to save the planet.
Sounds like the good old days in Boulder, doesn't it Jane?

Yeah I thought of that. What we need is some candidates to run on these issues. Of course they will change their minds once they win the seat. But along the way it's not a bad thing to let the public in on what's going on, particularly given Congress ' approval rating.
If Obama did not have any criminal intent when he supported the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act, isn't that a perfect example of the kind of mistake that can result from naiveté and a lack of experience?

You know, there is a muddle in the middle. And mayhaps the middle will win this election for McCain (if we allow McCain to be McCain). Lately I've been spending most of my time on climate blogs reading and reading and getting to know the arguments, the science, such as it is, and the players.
but I've also spent time reading here, of course, though not taking much time to comment. I've also followed some of the threads at TalkLeft because I find some of the comments concerning Obama indistinguishable in tenor, tone, humor, and sentiment from some found here.
It's really weird.
Just to show that the Hillary voter issue was not all about feminism...
Here's something that was making the rounds concerning the subject in this thread:
Obama's response to the Rezko verdicts:
I would like to apologize for my past associations, which also include my white grandmother, and pastor, and visiting pastor, and chief fund raiser, and wife, and anybody else in the future who may come out of the woodwork who will reflect badly on me and whom I will have to disavow.
They do not reflect my values. They do not reflect my beliefs. They are not what my campaign is all about. I stress hope and change as the model of the message I am attempting to convey.
I never knew what Rev. Wright said in his sermons. I was busy directing the cars in the parking lot when he said those things. Some Sundays I just slept in.
Rev. Pfleger deceived me and I am sorry I ever contributed or passed legislation on his behalf in the amount of thousands of dollars. He told me he was only an amateur comic and impersonator and had I known he was going national I would have distanced myself long before. Sorry.
Even though our association goes back some 17 years and we spoke daily during my various campaigns, I hardly knew Tony Rezko. Simply because we vacationed together we always had separate rooms.
I always knew Michele to be soft and sweet and deferential to me. However, I can only say that this militant side of her is something I never noticed before. She will remain in Chicago when I take up residence in the WH.
Syl, I asked a couple of days ago for a comment from any Democrat who has noticed that half of all Democrats now understand that Joe Wilson is, was, and always will be a liar. So far, no response.
========================
I think that little tete a tete entre Lieberman and Obama may be critical. Was Obama bullying or begging? I think Joe will swing the election whether he's Veep candidate or not.
=====================
Alas, the tete a tete seems to have been disappeared almost as fast as it appeared, which is a little strange. Considering the buzz in the blogosphere yesterday, I'd have thought it would have managed more than an hour or two on ABC's "most viewed" roster -- which is where links from multiple sources landed me, even though the URL included what appeared to be a specific ID number for the video.
From The San Francisco Chronical via NRO's Jonah Goldberg:
Even Bill Clinton, with all his effortless, winking charm, didn't have what Obama has, which is a sort of powerful luminosity, a unique high-vibration integrity.
"This isn't the Tony Rezko I knew." Deja vu, anyone? I could swear I've heard it somewhere before.
"This isn't the Rev. Wright I knew."
"This isn't the William Ayers I knew."
"This isn't the Bernardine Dohrn I knew."
