Danube of Thought

Just show me some more Pfleger. All Pfleger, all the time, from now until November.

Wahoo!

L. Wieseltier

Instapundit has a short item up Sunday morning indicating that we "ain't seen nothing yet" in terms of Obama and his radical church. Apparently a big story is set to break tomorrow exposing Obama's wife as the equal of minister Wright when it comes to "whitey hate."

kim

Go Balloons.
=======

kim

Oh, to be a superdelegate fly on the carcass of the Democratic Party.
=========================================

RichatUF

L. Wieseltier-

Apparently a big story is set to break tomorrow exposing Obama's wife as the equal of minister Wright when it comes to "whitey hate."

It's Scary Larry so I'll believe it when I see it. He's been pushing "the tape" idea for a while, and with the exception of his congregation, it'll be tough to sell as a "GOP dirty trick".

kim

It is indeed ironic that sexism and racism, two whips whose stings are sharpest, are now turned, self-flagellatory, on those most powerfully wielding them. This is full blown classic tragedy, and I begin to see why it can't be stopped. It is tarentella.
===========================

kim

Right, DoT, only 24 more 'weekend hours' to go before Scary's Big Show.
==========

kim

Ooh, just gotta double post this one.

It looks like Hillary has kissed the Prince and turned him into a frog.
=======================================

Jim

Indeed it is a tragedy, kim. I feel sorry for the grannies. Poor things finding only social disease where their political party used to be.

Kathie

It is "Black Liberation Theology" that binds all these people together. Leave the church, so what! Pretend that as you sat in a church for 20 years and you didn't believe in the theology. Is the Pope catholic?

Danube of Thought

For a good time, go over to Crazy Larry's place and read through the comments. There's some major Obama-hating going on over there, and much love for the Odious Slattern. And it appears that the GOP is manipulating everything--I suspect Rove.

And I blame Bush.

RichatUF

And for some more weekend fun take a peek at Gateway Pundit.

Derwood

If the GOP had a "hate whitey" tape with Michelle, they would not release it now. They do not want anything to hurt the chances of Obama being the Dem nominee. October release maybe, June release never. The only ones who would release a tape like this now is someone who wants to help Hillary.

SAM

I'm with Tom Maguire; I find these lines very troubling:

"Like other black churches, Trinity's services are full of raucous laughter and sometimes bawdy humor. They are full of dancing, clapping, screaming and shouting that may seem jarring to the untrained ear."

I attend a large non-denominatial church in SE Ohio (sorry, no nuttiness). For several years, the church has invited a local black pastor, his choir, and his congregation to the church for a summer mid-week service. The pastor has been great; the choir, outstanding; the service, one of the best each year.

With that as my reference point, I've never seen the level of hatred and resentment that I see at Obama's church. I guess I didn't realize that those blacks showing up at my church actually hated my white a**. And I suppose they had no problems accepting the substantial collection that the church gathered that night and then turned over to the visiting pastor and his church.

In truth, I think that pastor and his congregants were wonderful people and very grateful for my church's surprise donation, and I think Obama's church is a complete aberration.

jm

Should we be surprised that a young man with high political ambitions who joined a church because it fed those ambitions quit it when it frustrated them?

The Pfleger sermon was just sad. The homilist's duty is to reveal God to humanity. There was nothing in either the manner or the content of the sermon in question (at least the excerpts I've seen) that reflected the offer of grace, love, and peace that is at the core of the Gospel.

Sdferr

Has anyone commented on Obama's misappropriate overuse of the word "fierce"? Would he recognize fierce intelligence if it hit him upside the head with a 2x4?

capitano

Scott Ott's offer to Obamba is devastating in its clarity.

Unfortunately, I think BO is more inclined to search for the Church of What's Happening Now.

kim

Right Jim, Harriet Christian's ''It's a quality for all of us" is so far beyond the racist Obama's 'Hope for Change' as to make it appear primitive. I'm from ManHATtan, I love it.
========================

capitano

Karl at Protein Wisdom...

Oh No, I've said too much!

Jim

Church of Christ? It's neither.

daven

Any person who isn't a hate-America radical would have left the "church" twenty years ago!

kim

Yes, daven, unless he's a cynical hypocrite, this stuff has energized him for twenty years.

He's got a moral bind; either he's horrifyingly evil, or he is suffering a huge spiritual loss, right now.
==================

Rick Ballard

"He's got a moral bind; either he's horrifyingly evil, or he is suffering a huge spiritual loss, right now."

Nah. He's horrifyingly banal. Cheap hucksters suffer when the sherrif deputy flips over the suitcase that they've been using for their shell game - they get over it after a weekened in jail though. Then it's back to the hustle.

This clown has never turned an honest dollar and never will. I still say he's running for the Jesse Jackson/Al Shaprton "black spokesman" post - and all the pelf that goes with it. I do believe that he possesses the requisite level of amorality and greed to be considered their equal.

We should pause for a moment of gratitude that Broom One has been grounded. Perhaps we really will be spared that combination of those same qualities, amorality and greed, raised to the 10th power.

Sdferr

Kim
I don't think the binary "he's evil" or "he's suffering" is apt. See Powerline: Get Me from the Church on Time. He's a bullshit artist of the first order. He may be feeling a bit of panic right now but it will pass as he gets the re-assurances of his followers.

windansea

Obama will have to join a new church, i am sure they are focus grouping this now.

maybe a black jewish synagogue, or perhaps a nice evangelical with a pretty steeple?

windansea

Will Obama throw Michele under the bus as well?

windansea

“As in the prayer of the Ephesians, the entire Trinity family asks that the
nation entrust Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha to God’s care and
guidance, so that Christ may continue to dwell in their lives, in their
hearts, and in their work. We ask now for God’s peace to be with them.”

PS God Damn Amerika

Sue

The cornerstone of that church is Black Liberation Theology, or BLT for short. With that in mind, how is Obama going to reach out to Muslims when he attends a church that eats bacon?

The press has not yet begun to explore the teachings of this church. James Cone is not known to many outside the BLT. This is how our MSM has failed the average American who gets their news in soundbites or Jon Stewart's Daily Show.

BLT: White Christian concepts taught to the black man thus are to be disregarded or ignored. Presenting heaven asa reward for following Christ is seen as an attempt to dissuade blacks from the goal of real liberation of their whole persons.

I doubt anyone outside that church and not addicted to blogs has any idea what they actually teach there.

Jane

Will Obama throw Michele under the bus as well?

LOL - I can see it - next Saturday a press conference -

"I've decided to divorce my wife. She is not worth denouncing."

To throngs of cheers.

"Stephanopolous says Clinton is waiting for more to break on Obama

Former Clinton operative and ABC pseudo-journalist says that Hillary Clinton's campaign is waiting on more to break on Obama and his church, and that that's why Obama left his church yesterday."

http://www.redstate.com/blogs/soren_dayton/2008/jun/01/stephanopolous_says_clinton_is_waiting_for_more_to_break_on_obama

GMax

Does this work for a slogan? How about a bumper sticker?

I have had horrible judgement for 20 years.
Just give me 4 years to prove it was just a fluke.

Porchlight

Well well well, the rumors continue. I think Obama must be waiting for a very large Hillary-held shoe to drop, hence his morose manner in yesterday's speech.

Anyone ever hear Aaron Copland's arrangements of old American songs, sung by the great William Warfield? This one's been running through my head all morning:

The Dodger (Campaign Song)

Oh, the candidate's a dodger, yes, a well-known dodger,
Oh, the candidate's a dodger, yes, and I'm a dodger too.
He'll meet you and treat you and ask you for your vote,
But look out, boys, he's a-dodgin' for a note.

Yes we're all dodgin',
A-dodgin', dodgin', dodgin',
Yes, we're all dodgin' out the way through the world.

Oh, the preacher, he's a dodger, yes, a well-known dodger,
Oh, the preacher, he's a dodger, yes, and I'm a dodger, too.
He'll preach you the gospel and tell you of your crimes,
But look out, boys, he's a-dodgin' for your dimes.

Yes we're all dodgin',
A-dodgin', dodgin', dodgin',
Yes, we're all dodgin' out the way through the world.

glasater

Had always wanted to check out Greta's blog and had not taken the time to do so.

A commenter at PW pointed me in that direction saying there is a connection between Axelrod and Pfleger.

Old Dad

"For 20 years I served as an under cover operative for the CIA. My mission, to expose the Reverend Wright for the America hating lefty that he truly is. We were within days of breaking through, when Scooter Libby had the temerity to leak my identity to Rolling Stone. I am not and never have been Barrack Hussein Obama. My real name is Barry Gibb. I guess I can always get the band back together if the President thing doesn't work out."

I am not Barrack Obama and I approve this mesage.

MikeS

"I continue to doubt his church is (now, was) all that typical."
It was just another example of Barack's judgment. When he had a choice of churches he chose the radical church. He consistently makes "radical" choices.

ROBERT NOVAK [email protected]
Agents of Sen. Hillary Clinton are spreading the word in Democratic circles that she has scandalous information about her principal opponent for the party's presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, but has decided not to use it. The nature of the alleged scandal was not disclosed.

This word-of-mouth among Democrats makes Obama look vulnerable and Clinton look prudent. It comes during a dip for the front-running Clinton after she refused to take a stand on New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's now discarded plan to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

Experienced Democratic political operatives believe Clinton wants to avoid a repetition of 2004, when attacks on each other by presidential candidates Howard Dean and Richard Gephardt were mutually destructive and facilitated John Kerry's nomination.

Data From the CNN Puerto Rico Exit Polls

Clinton voters on if they’d be satisfied if Obama clinches nomination: 72% no, 26% yes.

my own exit question:

are the donks so craven as to nominate a loser so they can get their hands on his doner list?

Rick Ballard

Peter,

I wonder if there's any money in "Honkey Pigs for Obama" buttons or bumperstickers?

tonynoboloney

I assure you the Hildebeast has MUCH more on Obama than his church. Hillary knows if she can just hang in long enough Barry & co. will self implode.

Has anyone heard the rumor of threesomes, gay sex and cocaine?

Old Dad

How about "Honkey Sows For Hillary." It's a threefer--sexist, racist, and Islamophobic!

And true--did you see the size of some of those old babes?

Pofarmer

Lifted from the thread below.

Do you feel like your faith and your church come under fire, more rapid fire, than other candidates in this presidential election? How do you feel about that?

Do you think that question makes Mitt Romney put his head in his hands?

Patrick R. Sullivan

It's getting awfully crowded under that bus.

This would be the perfect religious movement (led by a community organizer) for an ambitious pol:

...unlike the customers rolling up to the station's pumps two weeks ago, resigned to the fact that their wallets were about to take a beating, Rocky Twyman and company had a plan to bring that number tumbling down.

They would ask God to do it.

"Our pockets are empty, but we're going to hold onto God!" Twyman, a community organizer from Rockville, Md., said as he and seven other people formed a semicircle, held hands and sang, pleading for divine intervention to lower fuel prices.

It was the latest demonstration by Twyman's movement, Pray at the Pump, which began in April. Since then, he has held group prayers at gas stations as far away as San Francisco, garnering international media attention and claiming success in at least a few cases.

Praise the Lord and pass the nozzle.

David Brooks commenting on "This Week" said that after BHO quit TUCC--the McCain camp was fully awakened to the bare knuckle campaign in store for them.

Well, Duh!!

Porchlight

I thought the Hillary Hsu's were a bit short and thin.

Rich, those were the 2007 model. The 2008 version is a stout church-shaped brogue with lots of mud still bitterly clinging to the sole.

RichatUF

Clean togo McCain wasn't going to go near TUCC or Wright anyway. His campaign staffers will probably vet all their ads through the DNC is a spirit of bipartisanship and maverickyness.

Pofarmer

Has anyone heard the rumor of threesomes, gay sex and cocaine?

That would be a resume enhancer for Barry.

PeterUK

Mr Ballard,
Our "Jive Assed Honkies for Obama" are selling well with the white guilt crowd.

PeterUK

"Has anyone heard the rumor of threesomes, gay sex and cocaine?"

A bit old hat,but as you say might brighten Barry up a bit,he is boring.

Patrick R. Sullivan

Linda Chavez to Obama: Bring it on:

And that brings us at last to the real question raised by this transfixing episode in our national life, which is not whether Jeremiah Wright is pernicious and hateful in his views. Anyone who is not in thrall to an ideological loathing of America can see that plainly enough. It is whether Obama is right when he asserts that Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ embody “the black community in its entirety.” If he is right, then there is a central flaw in the declared premise underlying his campaign for President—the premise that his election offers a way out of America’s disunity, including in matters racial. Judging from Obama’s astonishing electoral success, whites have already bridged this putative racial divide, which means that the primary obstacle to achieving a new American unity comes not from whites, but from blacks.

As I have already suggested, a dishearteningly large number of black Americans do indeed harbor extreme attitudes toward white America and toward other American ethnic groups. One of the most in-depth studies of this issue, conducted by Paul M. Sniderman and Thomas Piazza for their book Black Pride and Black Prejudice (2002), found blacks significantly more likely than whites to hold anti-Semitic views, a finding consistent with several other studies. Regarding whites in general, one-quarter of those surveyed said they believed white doctors had invented AIDS in the laboratory in order to commit genocide, and nearly half said that the CIA and FBI had flooded black neighborhoods with drugs and guns so that blacks would harm one another—findings that suggest Jeremiah Wright is no outlier among blacks.

These wild conspiracy theories are themselves rooted in racial animus. Indeed, the data demonstrate that the greater the animus, the more likely an individual is to impute bigotry against himself and his group to others. In sum, Sniderman and Piazza conclude, “what encourages blacks to believe that others are prejudiced against them is their being prejudiced against others.”

Where does that leave Barack Obama?

kim

Et tu, Michelle? But really, why should he be surprised? Surely he knows the fraud, the inauthenticity that he's been parading all along. This is not the chutzpah of a menschen, but the arrogant deviousness of a charlatan.

Nope. It's a Clinton camp operation from start to finish.

If such a "whitey tape" exists, is it really important who put it in circulation? Wouldn't the content be more important than whether it was offered up by the GOP or Clinton or unknown?

Topsecretk9

Kim

You are right. Larwyn is usually lowercase.

Rick Ballard

"Wouldn't the content be more important than whether it was offered up by the GOP or Clinton or unknown?"

Absolutely not. Red Witch cannot possibly succeed unless she can transfer the "blame" for the discovery that MO is a mouth breathing racist (big surprise) to evil Rethuglicans. Her first efforts at race baiting were farmed out to the Times of London and she's been just as careful ever since. She's as slick as she is evil and BHO would never have flanked her were she not so well hated by a rather large contingent within her own party. She's on a tight rope here and I'm crossing my fingers for strong gusts of wind.

sylvia

Hey does anyone know if FL and MI Dem primaries are winner-take-all or not? I tried to look it up, but what I saw doesn't specify that, so I'm assuming they are proportional. That would make a difference in the revote issue.

SlimGuy

All dem primaries and caucus events are proportional. They don't do winner take all. That is one reason Obama is ahead, he figured that out for the caucus states that Hillary ignored and got his lead in the caucus events.

Good discussion of all that

Here

RichatUF

Rick-

Her first efforts at race baiting were farmed out to the Times of London...

Well I'm sure they won't be able to get the Blumenthal stink off in time, but I do here he got fitted in a new flying monkey suit. I'm a bit curious about Scary Larry's angle in all this though...

Sara

I suppose so, but shouldn't the Clinton's have the stones to own it than?

Speaking for myself, I don't see why if she didn't make it or order it made. When is Obama expected to have stones? So far, all I've seen out of him is "it's her fault or a staffer's fault or the media's fault, but I'm the anointed one so I speak no evil, hear no evil, and only see evil in everyone else, but don't tell anyone because I'm special, a uniter, a healer, and a post racial racist.

sylvia

"What they found were opportunities to win delegates, even in states they would eventually lose...Obama's campaign mastered some of the most arcane rules in politics, and then used them to foil a front-runner who seemed to have every advantage"

Yes that was a good article. Seems like Obama's campaign manager seemed to borrow a playbook from Karl Rove, because if you ever see Rove talk about the elections, he seems to have an almost enclycopedic knowledge of the political leanings of every county in the US. Probably even the towns too.

Neo

Does this mean that a President Obama, when confronted with a Congress that doesn't conform to his wishes, will leave the country ?

He doesn't know how to fix a damn thing.

His VP pick is more important than him.

SlimGuy

Sylvia

Another important point is how the dems weight their congressional districts for the number of delegates awarded.

All of the heavier weighted pro dem ones were right where the Black/Elite/Young voters in Obama's support live giving him a running start at the heavy delegate districts.

SlimGuy

Neo

That is the reason I look for him or Hill to pick Mark Warner of Va as VP to swing the state to them and especially for Obama give him some experienced Dem backup due to his lightweight history.

CMsw

The cult is trading. Obama is sorry for what happened to his racial cult. He has not and will not recover from his cult experience. A psychiatrist is just going to write him off. Lucifer is a cult. A psychopath. The cult of seeing shit with your eyes closed and hearing voices from God Obama is and won't leave. Lucifer is this and Obama has decided this. He is special and won't deny what was done to him.

Sara

I picked this up at California Conservative yesterday as part of a much longer post:

Here’s what TNR is reporting on the unity front:

Howard Dean may hope that the “healing will begin today,” but two blocks away from the northwest Washington Marriott where the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee is meeting right now to try to figure out Florida and Michigan, the Hillary protesters are occupying an utterly alternate (and healing-free) universe: a universe in which one of the big lawn rally’s speakers yells that the Democratic Party no longer is in the business of “promoting equality and fairness for all”; in which a Hillary supporter with two poodles shouts, “Howard Dean is a leftist freak!”; in which a man exhibits a sign that reads “At least slaves were counted as 3/5ths a Citizen” and shows Dean whipping handcuffed people; and in which Larry Sinclair, the Minnesota man who took to YouTube to allege that Barack Obama had oral sex with him in the back of a limousine in 1999, is one of the belles of the ball.

ThinkingWoman

I find it so shocking--almost science-fiction-esque--that, considering the sorry state of our economy, our lack of a viable health-care system, our failing public education system and embarrassing international reputation for fraudulent, oligarchical foreign-policy decisions--that idiots like you are wasting your very limited intellectual resources on these types of discussions. But, of course, this works out well for the 1% of our population rolling in dough and laughing at the American publics' collective ADD and penchant for shallow, jingoistic trivia.

vnjagvet

Not from the Onion, but could be:

I understand Karl Rove has been persistently whispering in BHO's ear in the middle of the night urging him to make Dick Cheney the highly unofficial and top secret chair of the Illinois Senator's VP search committee.

The Twenty Second Amendment does not apply to VP's, and Cheney has much of the considerable experience BHO lacks.

Neo

SlimGuy

It's wonderful seeing you on this beautiful Sunday Afternoon. I guess our commentary is getting to you a bit.

Not to worry, look around a while. Maybe you'll change your mind and vote for an adult.

Topsecretk9

Aj pretty much nails it

With the DNC rules committee job over and Clinton still not able to pull a hat out of a rabbit to win the Democrat nomination, the stage is now set for the Clinton smear machine to go into full gear. Spearheading this political hit job is Clinton supporter Larry Johnson, who two weeks ago first hinted at having heard about a bomb-shell video of Michelle Obama ranting against “whitey” at the Obama’s Trinity Church (I posted on it here).

As I noted when the rumor first came out, Johnson’s cover story - that this tape was being held by the GOP and was meant to torpedo Obama in the fall - was simply incoherent. Johnson claimed both Dem and Rep sources had seen the tape - which makes no sense at all if you know how DC works. If the GOP had this atomic political bomb they would hold it close and unleash an October surprise (e.g., George Bush’s DWI charge which hit the news right before the 2000 election)...

Rick Ballard

Vnjagvet,

It's hard to argue with TW concerning the degradation which has occurred since Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi took over leadership of the majority party within the legislature. Especially wrt the economy where, the '06 election results stopped growth in its tracks while plainly exacerbating speculative increases which have had such a negative impact upon the costs of fuel and food.

vnjagvet

After all, Rick, it is a cinch that BushHitlerCheneyHalliburton will no longer be around to devil her after January. That Congress will be front and center no matter who takes the WH.

Sara

I find it so shocking--almost science-fiction-esque--that, considering the sorry state of our economy, our lack of a viable health-care system, our failing public education system and embarrassing international reputation for fraudulent, oligarchical foreign-policy decisions--that idiots like you are wasting your very limited intellectual resources on these types of discussions. But, of course, this works out well for the 1% of our population rolling in dough and laughing at the American publics' collective ADD and penchant for shallow, jingoistic trivia.

Let's see, the economy is chugging along at a positive pace despite the mortgage crisis and high gas prices, there is nothing wrong with the greatest health care system in the world, it is health care insurance that is the problem in the eyes of many, and the failing education system is due to the ironclad grip the predominantly democratic teacher's union has on the system where merit doesn't count, our embarrassing international reputation is sought out when those international entities need our help and 100 world leaders met in Stockholm last week to hail our progress and that of the Iraqis plus those countries of the world are dumping their leftist/socialist governments and going conservative.

As to your last 1% rant, that is gobbleygook.

Rick Ballard

"BushHitlerCheneyHalliburton will no longer be around to devil her after January"

True. I wonder if TW in the Dem Racist camp or the Dem Sexist camp? Her adoption of the "Thinking" disguise makes it a bit difficul to discern her sympathies.

Hope that means the Latinos in N.Mex & CA won't vote for OBAMA in general IF HE ENDS UP THE CANDIDATE IN NOV.

Wild Larwyn Extrapolations on that MICHELLE "WHITEY" VIDEO:

In the very beginning of the PR "election center" at FNC with Chris Wallace, Kristol let slip, (a paraphrase)
..." if he, in fact is the candidate after what is coming tomorrow...". No one asked him what he meant by that, no one went back to that - could mean Kristol slipped what FNC wants to BLOW OUT TOMORROW & not beging of summer Sunday afternoon.

If the NETWORK having the VIDEO per Roger Stone is FNC - you can see why OBAMA spokesman Brown called it 'REPUB DIRTY TRICKS!!"

TW, something to ponder:

Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following: A little over one year ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses)
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! Remember, it’s the Congress that makes law, not the President. He has to work with what’s handed to him.

Quote of the Day……..’My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.’ — Barack Obama
