Mickey makes a good point about the media non-coverage of the John Edwards "Two Fathers" scandal - if the press wants to help out The One they ought to bury Edwards for him expeditiously:
Will the Pro-Obama Bias Turn Anti-Edwards? At this point, does Barack Obama want John Edwards to even show up in Denver, much less give a prime time speech? Even if the Love-Child saga progresses no further than it already has, an Edwards Denver appearance will inevitably be accompanied by renewed speculation about his seemingly scandalous and politically toxic behavior...
If you're an Obama strategist, mightn't you conclude that the best thing for your candidate would be if the press weighs in quickly and definitively concludes that Edwards is guilty, with the result that he and his whole sordid story go away until after November? ...
My free advice to Mickey is also a challenge to my readers - this "Love Child" scandal is going nowhere without a catchier name. And no, I don't think "WaterChild" will get it done.
I am floating "Two Fathers", but that precedes my first cup of coffee, so I know we can do better. As a fallback I am toying with the John Edwards "Heart is a lonely Hunter" scandal. But, like John, I am hoping to find something special!

Silky's Little Slipup probably won't catch on but I like it.
BTW - This sort of puts Silky out of contention as an alternative in a deadlocked convention doesn't it? Not that the owner of the NE would ever do anything for the couple from Chapaqua.

The Two Families Scandal. We really have two Edwards families. The classy family lives in the big house with dad. The low-class family is fatherless, gets gets jack-squat. This apartheid system was orchestrated by the rich white male involved. Etc.

While, Buford is digging through his thesaurus (grin), I am gonna change subjects briefly.
An article in the Hartford Courant (I think) suggests it would be a winning strategy for Elizabeth Edwards to speak at the Dim convention.
I am not so sure. The last few scandals where the stoic wives have been trotted out weren't received too well (remember Mrs. Spitzer)?
What do you all think?

Onshore drilling in California.

I think the Hartford Current is NUTZ.It will only remind everyone of how sleazy Edwards is and how malleable the media was.
Posted by: clarice | July 27, 2008 at 12:48 PM
Elizabeth Edwards is a pretty vicious person.
For some reason, many online Dems love her. OTOH, when my own Dem husband saw her on some television show speaking for the Dems, he said "Why is John Edwards' wife on there?" She may be received well at the convention, but if the Silky stuff turns out to be true, it would ultimately be embarassing.
As for the scandal, I'd go with the Jimmy Buffet-esque "Son of a son of a millworker"

That's funny because it's the first thing I thought of, and the I thought "stupid idea".

The Clinton Connection
Roger Altman, who has a controlling stake in the National Enquirer, is a former official in Bill Clinton’s administration. Some wags believe the magazine poured resources into the love child story to scupper John Edwards’s chances of beating Hillary Clinton for the presidential nomination.
Were the latest revelations timed to finish him off as a potential running mate? Despite the rumours, it is not likely. Few people think Clinton is still on Barack Obama’s shortlist.

Lee Stranahan, a pro-Obama regular on HuffPo, wrote a very balanced post making the point that the silence about Silky's foible from the MSM and leftyblogs really hurt the democratic party.
A must read.
Predictably, a post on Kos linking to Stranahan got over 400 comments, mostly insulting Stranahan. One even accused him of being a rethuglican operative.
One of his points -- this ain't going away. When it gets on Leno and Lederman (it has), the MSM won't be far behind.
