Barack Obama defended his opposition to proposed Illinois state laws protecting "born-alive" infants and dismissed his critics as liars:
CBN Correspondent David Brody: Real quick, the born alive infant protection act. I gotta tell you that's the one thing I get a lot of emails about and it's just not just from Evangelicals, it about Catholics, Protestants, main – they're trying to understand it because there was some literature put out by the National Right to Life Committee. And they're basically saying they felt like you misrepresented your position on that bill.
Obama: Let me clarify this right now.
Brody: Because it's getting a lot of play.
Obama: Well and because they have not been telling the truth. And I hate to say that people are lying, but here's a situation where folks are lying. I have said repeatedly that I would have been completely in, fully in support of the federal bill that everybody supported – which was to say – that you should provide assistance to any infant that was born – even if it was as a consequence of an induced abortion. That was not the bill that was presented at the state level. What that bill also was doing was trying to undermine Roe vs. Wade.
Obama is right! This is a situation where folks are lying. However, the Annenberg Fact Checkers have concluded that the liar is Obama.
A June 30 Obama campaign statement responding to similar claims by conservative commentator William J. Bennett says that SB 1082 did not contain the same language as the federal BAIPA.
Obama campaign statement, June 30: Illinois And Federal Born Alive Infant Protection Acts Did Not Include Exactly The Same Language. The Illinois legislation read, "A live child born as a result of an abortion shall be fully recognized as a human person and accorded immediate protection under the law." The Born Alive Infant Protections Act read, "Nothing in this section shall be construed to affirm, deny, expand, or contract any legal status or legal right applicable to any member of the species homo sapiens at any point prior to being 'born alive' as defined in this section." [SB 1082, Held in Health and Human Services, 3/13/03; Session Sine Die, 1/11/05; BAIPA, Public Law 107-207]
The statement was still on Obama's Web site as of this writing, Aug. 25, long after Obama had accused his detractors of "lying." But Obama's claim is wrong. In fact, by the time the HHS Committee voted on the bill, it did contain language identical to the federal act.
Obama has such a small a resume that it is a wonder he still needs to run from it.
Pants on fire.

Lying Liars... etc., etc.

And with San Fran Nan running her pie whole, abortion became front and center just when Obama didn't need it to.
Posted by: Sue | August 26, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Sue, Democrats always want to get the pie whole. Republicans say we should make the pie bigger.

I would call you a smartass, but it was so funny I laughed with you. I made the comment last night that I hate words that are spelled 400 different ways and sound the same. Hole. Hole. Hole. ::grin::

via HotAir, Fox has some info from an Ayers interview in 2004:
Now.
Who does that sound exactly like?
Posted by: MayBee | August 27, 2008 at 12:05 AM
TM, you should find a more nonpartisan fact checker. The Annenberg people are just upset at Obama because he wasted $50 million of their money by funneling it to unrepentant terrorists and Maoists.

Stanley Kurtz on Fox News:
Found a significant working relationship between Ayers and Obama.
Ayers attended many CAC board meetings.
Obama and Ayers worked very closely, discussing where to direct the money.
They have a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" relationsip.
Kurtz says It looks really bad for Obama.

Maybee
I hope they were either drunk or high while spouting that sh*t.

You heard it here first (last March): In the two-party vote, it's McCain 53%, Obama 47%.
Guess we're a racist nation after all...
Posted by: Danube of Thought | August 27, 2008 at 12:17 AM
bad,
I posted that on the other thread. He also said that when Obama first ran for public office, he touted his time at CAC on his resume.

Kurtz looked like he was fixin' to bust. I can't wait for his next article.

Whose head is going to roll for these new revelations? Axelrod's, anon. staffer, etc.
Or is Bill Ayers not the terrorist I used to know?
Is the Kurtz news why Hillary was so ebullient this evening?

I was thinking it sounds just like Obama, when he says stuff like:
We are embarrassing in our lack of language skills.
We aren't setting a good example if we want to tell Russia not to bomb Georgia.

The democrats have just opened another Pandora's Box with the abortion issue through their own stupidity. Obama's lies and Pelosi's defiance of some of the basic teachings of Catholicism just opened them up to a huge effort by pro life groups and the biggest one of all, the RC Church....just imagine the Pope calling Biden and Pelosi excommunicated. very dumb.....
Now if the republicans can field some decent candidates or we can reconstitute and make successful a new Bull Moose Party, perhaps we can take back the initiative to become that bright, shining city on a hill Reagan spoke of.
Posted by: matt | August 27, 2008 at 01:38 AM
matt - meanwhile, in Alaska, Republican morons have given indicted, dirty incumbent Ted Stevens a primary victory. Equally dirty Representative Don Young is ahead by 4 votes with 45% of the vote counted. The Stevens/Trent Lott wing of the party is still unaccountably strong.

OT - to Plame / Fitzgerald experts at JOM: I just came across the strangest site, purporting to be Fitzgerald's. Have you seen this before? Has it already been discussed here?
http://patrickjfitzgerald.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Main page: here.
By its weirdness and blatant bias against Pres. Bush, Rove, et al, at first glance, I would say it's an impersonator. Its earliest entry is 24 Oct 05, a few days before the Libby indictment. It even claims to be the source of that awful photo of Dr. Rice, with the photo-shopped eyes.
The only thing I liked there was this line:
____________
"A little secret between you and me, my investigation is not ONLY about who leaked CIA Operative Valerie Plame's name to the press...it goes deeper, much deeper." 10/25/05.
___________
Did someone get to Fitz? Or was he always biased? Surely not. He was investigating terrorist cells and Judith Miller warning them before they got raided in Chicago.
My hopes at the time were that Mr. Fitzgerald would discover Plame was just the tip of the iceberg of the CIA's nest of leftwing traitors, running on ill-gotten financial takeovers of the 70s. And possibly funding/aiding terrorists.
But my goodness, if this is really the Special Prosecutor, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, writing, the whole thing should be redone, this time by the FBI. Reopen the FBI's investigation into the CIA, to include those counterintelligence experts or their findings at the time.
(Ref. Hersh's Stovepipe article, 10/27/03 and 10/20/03.)
Perhaps this obscure blog by Fitz was a cry for help? Like the victims of a kidnapping who can't speak out because their loved one is in danger?
Posted by: BR | August 27, 2008 at 04:45 AM
Hmm. Aren't Illinois bar applications another example where "people" are lying? It's looking like Obama's got more than a few truths to straighten out. It's looking more and more like Obama may be the Danny Almonte of this year's biggest game.

Good Morning to all!
Just a note I thought was interesting.
The last Hillary article put up at No Quarter last night after 10 Pm Has 700 comments already.

It's sites like that, BR, that make me believe in America. Pagar, too. What a True American Hero is Scary Larry. I almost said 'superhero'.
I can say I knew him back when he was wrong at the top of his lungs. Oh, yeah, a little profane, too. I really miss the old Larry; I'll bet he does too.

Kim, My opinion is that Larry is right about only one thing. Obama is wrong for America.
In stating that position, he has attracted a lot of readers who agree with him.
Posted by: Pagar | August 27, 2008 at 08:57 AM
Kim,
I left a comment at Larry's place saying I was linking to him a lot lately and it drove my regular readers nuts.
I also mentioned that after the Obama defeat it was back to War.

Larry is a Valomino, a Plamachine. Joe and Val threw in with Hillary and Larry is part of the package. Unless......? I'd dearly love to know who the rest of the VIPS were supporting.

Never paid that much attention to the whiners club. So, do you think Fitz could have gotten the Seixon treatment from the same source? Then folded and went for a reasonable scapegoat?

Just remembered, back in July '05, their full title was:

This is a perfect lead in line for TV ads. Start with a clip of Obama saying 'Here's a situation where folks are lying', and then detail a flip flop of his. There could be a running series of them; and the best he may not have spoken, yet. There should be some good ones about 'English Professor' who 'lives in the neighborhood'.
Hey, Buddy, it's not the crime, it's the cover-up. Hillary coulda toldya that.
BR, I don't know what the bastards are up to, but I'm sure it is despicable and destructive.
