my team (Angels) is still playing.....

The twentieth was the Yankees century. Maybe by the twenty-second they can get a wins/payroll ratio that beats the average. But I doubt it. Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the IRS.

MarkO

That's pretty much how Coleman played.

It's not over. It's just in suspension.

And totally unrelated, here's the song that comes to mind when someone says "You're in suspension."

Not a dig at McCain--just something drilled into me at a young age.

It ain't over till it's over:

"The Yankees have won 9 of their last 10, pushing their record to 86-71. But the Red Sox are 92-65, a record the Yankees cannot match."

Red Sox Nation!

Speaking of sports, TM, I'd like to put in a request for a debate thread so that we can snark the pundits before the game itself gets underway.

This one is my favorite.

"Winfield goes back to the wall. He hits his head on the wall -- and it rolls off! It's rolling all the way back to second base! This is a terrible thing for the Padres." - Jerry Coleman (San Diego Padres radio announcer), describing a fly ball to Dave Winfield

Au contraire, baseball has NOT ended. The Phillies are still alive and kicking and hopefully lording over yet another delightful meltdown by the loathsome Mets.

Dave

The Evil Empire sure can put up runs against the PawSox.
