September 06, 2008

CharCo: jurnalist

I know there is something rude I should say about this, but my brain ain't up to speed today.

Henry J

from Fox:

"Obama Fundraiser: Palin Putting Career Above Family

An original member of Barack Obama’s finance committee said Friday that Sarah Palin is putting her career above her family by accepting the nomination as John McCain’s running mate.

Howard Gutman made the argument on “The Laura Ingraham Show,” telling the radio host that the Alaska governor should focus her energy on her unwed, pregnant teenage daughter.""

Charlie (Colorado)

Okay, hit, got it.

Allow me to correct myself ..

Howard Gutman was the lawyer for Susan Rosenberg, a member of the Weather Underground who was charged in the Brink’s case, but not tried because she had received a 58 year sentence in a weapons case involving 740 pounds of dynamite intended for bombings. Trying her on the Brink’s matter therefore seemed unnecessary to prosecutors. She served 16 years before Bill Clinton pardoned Rosenberg at the end of his Presidency.

Charlie (Colorado)

Heh, someone else must have linked it, it just died again.

Idea for a you tube ...

I can cover the guitar part and our jazz band singer can cover the vocal but I'll need some top gun dogfight video ...

When the Top Gun's locked on your fix

You better roll out and do it quick

Or you'll burn burn burn burn when she clix

Obama keeps walking into a buzz saw. He runs around claiming he has the experience to be president, why, he has ran this campaign for 19 months. I think the McCain camp set him up for this one. How is he going to blame the DNCC for this gaffe (the flags) while claiming he is running this campaign?

See this for a dogfight:

The next one in the series is good too.

Fox News has just played a live clip of BHO at a rally and is he ever pathetic in his speaking arguments to the crowd.

I was thinking the same thing.

Palin will campaign in Virginia Beach on September 18th. No details yet.

The Oceana Air Show occurs over the next few days, which is why I vacation on the beach then, body surfing whilst tons of loud heavy things scream right over my head. Looks like now my vacation is a three-fer: beach, jets and Palin.

Come join the fun!

BHO is as smug as smug can be. He reminds me of a teenager these days.

I just hope McCain knows where the flags from the Republican convention are.

Agreed. But fwiw, someone on Hot Air said they don't remember flags being handed out at the RNC. Now that I think of it I don't remember seeing many either (barring a few that appeared to have been brought specially by conventiongoers).

hit and run

Dadgummit. Gallup called again and again I nearly jumped outta my chair to let them poll me!!!

About beverages??!?!?!?!

WTF, that's twice in the last few days Gallup has wanted to poll me about my favorite beverages.

Oh, and Charlie, you may have already seen this from Hotair this morning, but it deals more substantively with Palin's faith...

hit and run

but it deals more substantively with Palin's faith...using a NYT article of all things.

Hit, if you have caller ID, can you tell it's Gallup? I've always wondered about that since I tend not to pick up the phone if it's an 800 or 866 number, or an area code I don't recognize.

Woot! Woot! Gallup has realeased its daily numbers. Obama 47. McCain 45.>Gallup

Porchlight: I was called by Gallup about a year and a half ago - it showed up on caller I.D. - and it was also about beverages (particularly beer over other choices). That should be right up Hits' alley!

Anymore details, I live in VB

Gallup calls all the time to speak with Mr. bad. About 1pm everyday, Gallup shows on caller ID. Every day I tell them he is at his office and every day they call again at the same time.

Makes me wonder about their results when they can't make that simple adjustment. Tuesday will be three weeks.

Yeah, I'm keepin' track.

bad, check your email.

Apparently the natives are restless.

This from the Washington Times.

CEDARBURG, Wisc. -- Hundreds of angry people in this small town outside Milwaukee taunted reporters and TV crews traveling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!" and pointing fingers at a pack of journalists as they booed loudly.

On the first leg of the "McCain Street USA" tour -- which will take the Republican presidential nominee and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, to small towns across the heartland -- the 30 or so reporters and crew were walking back to their buses to join the McCain motorcade when hundreds of townspeople started yelling.

"Stop lying! You are all liars! Tell the truth!" one woman yelled from the front of the pack.

The crowd was not menacing or threatening, but was clearly angry.

"You're telling lies! Stop the lies!" one man yelled. Asked why the crowd was so angry, Linda J. Green of Mequon, Wisc., said: "I'm thinking the press is very biased."

"I think the press is very liberal and very slanted against the McCain-Palin ticket. Would you ask a man if his kids were being taken care of while he's out campaigning?"

She said the coverage of Mrs. Palin is flat-out sexist. "The media has called her a sexy librarian look. Would you say that Obama is a sexy Will Smith look? They called her Tina Fey's sister, only sexier. I think you're being very sexist."

Another woman questioned local television coverage, which differed for the Republican and Democratic party conventions, she said.

"Why did the networks not carry the Republican convention, when they carried the Democratic convention?" she asked. "They do it because they're liberal," a man chimed in.

The scene was reminiscent of one that occurred spontaneously at the RNC, when Mrs. Palin accused political pundits and columnists of misinformation. With thousands of red-meat Republicans in the huge Xcel Center in Minneapolis, the crowd turned ugly. Hundreds began pointing at a group of reporters and booing -- some chanted "CNN!" while others yelled "MSNBC!"

I'm sure the media are perplexed.

Saw pictures on several sites last Friday, think that Atlas had them and Gateway too.

Remember Kerry and the Green Bay Stadium?
from the Corner....

Nittaly Lions? [John J. Miller]

I guess this is sports morning on The Corner. Here's Barack Obama, proving to Penn State fans that he's not ready for prime time.

Then there is Sarah:
Can She Play Right Wing, Too? [John J. Miller]

What's cooler than a hockey mom who's running for vice president? That's easy: a hockey mom with a Red Wings jersey.

Vanderleun asks...
Does Obama Possess Courage?

There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you ... in places where winning means survival and defeat means death ... - Sarah Palin's Address to the RNC

Is Obama's courage limited to talking? I've been reading a number of quotes from Senator Obama over the past 24 hours that have to do with fighting. He's not taking things lying down. He's not going to be "bullied." That the sort of tough talk that's pretty much par for the course in political metaphors these days. ...RIA at :

RIA but love Don's last graphs:

The politicians with the most appearances on Meet The Press are Bob Dole and John Kerry.

Neither was elected president.

hit and run

Yup, it said Gallup right there on caller id.

I never ever ever pick up a call I don't know.

I didn't think about the beer angle. Next time, when the young earnest pollster says, "We're asking people today about their choice in beverages....."

I'm saying "Beer!" and hagning up. Thx centralcal for the idea. If I had the patience and attention span for it, I would sit through all the questions and answer beer for every question..."which beer?" "doesn't matter, long as it's beer."

Now if I could record the call and blog it...that would be sweeet.

Old: Palin promotes abstinence only education, and her daughter is pregnant because she doesn't believe in birth control!

New:,0,3119305.story >Palin is perhaps a little too liberal with the condom stuff.

Palin's statements date to her 2006 gubernatorial run. In July of that year, she completed a candidate questionnaire that asked, would she support funding for abstinence-until-marriage programs instead of "explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?"

Palin wrote, "Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support."

But in August of that year, Palin was asked during a KTOO radio debate if "explicit" programs include those that discuss condoms. Palin said no and called discussions of condoms "relatively benign."

"Explicit means explicit," she said. "No, I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues. So I am not anti-contraception. But, yeah, abstinence is another alternative that should be discussed with kids. I don't have a problem with that. That doesn't scare me, so it's something I would support also."

Neat P-51 story DrJ. An uncle flew those in WW2 and my dad trained to fly them but instead flew the P-47 Thunderbolt (a nickname it shares with the A10 Warthog).

"body surfing whilst tons of loud heavy things scream right over my head."

You are under Rosie O'Donnell?

AJ Strata has a great piece up about CNN's almost obsessive spotlight on Sarah's creepy ex-B-I-L.

He was married 4 times before age 35!!! He had to leave his weapon at work each night, I guess cuz they worried he might use it! Good lord, he was in law enforcement????

Thanks y'all. Maybe one day Gallup will call me too. I like the idea of just saying "Beer!" and hanging up. Maybe I could just say "McCain/Palin!" and do the same.

I doubt it is intentional, but Drudge has the following stories...

Obama: We are ready to fight, we won't be bullied

followed by:

To counter Palin, Obama ready to dispatch femal surrogates.

femal surrogates or ferral surrogates?

What happened to my "e"? ::grin:: I just thought it was funny that Obama is not going to be bullied by sending out female surrogates.

Danube of Thought

What could possibly be more beautiful than this from the WSJ:

"From a New York Times editorial on July 3, 1984, on Geraldine Ferraro's nomination for vice president:

"Where is it written that only senators are qualified to become President? . . . Or where is it written that mere representatives aren't qualified, like Geraldine Ferraro of Queens? . . . Where is it written that governors and mayors, like Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco, are too local, too provincial? . . . Presidential candidates have always chosen their running mates for reasons of practical demography, not idealized democracy. . . . What a splendid system, we say to ourselves, that takes little-known men, tests them in high office and permits them to grow into statesmen. . . . Why shouldn't a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?"

If you have to explain your joke...and it was me that told Obama to leave comedy to the comedians. ::sigh::

Charlie (Colorado)

Not that anyone ever calls a Thunderbolt Warthog anything but a BUMF.

Would this be a fair headline:

"Obama Goes on the Offensive - Sends Women to the Front"

I know. I know. Sexist as all hell, but I just couldn't resist.

“A lot of churches are about music and media and having a big profile..."

Like TUCC? I seem to remember that after Clinton lost his bid for reelection in Arkansas Dick Morris advised him to change churches to the one whose service was televised. He did so, even joining the choir and positioning himself over the preacher's shoulder so his mug and his big Bible were prominently displayed.

Palin seems thoroughly main stream. The Dim's just be terrified.

Barney Frank

Not that anyone ever calls a Thunderbolt Warthog anything but a BUMF.

Charlie, do they call the Warthog that?
In SAC the B 52 was the original BUFF.

Most folks called the original Thunderbolt the 'jug' but that probably wouldn't fly in today's coed AF.

OOOhh Deb!! Yeah!! Nail em.

I think they are too out of it to be terrified. More mystified...

Patrick R. Sullivan

From Gerard Baker's Times of London column:

"What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?”

“One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

“The other kills her own food.”

You all have heard Obama's doing Olbermann, right?

"Why shouldn't a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?"

Like Topsy?

I think a good strategy would be to send Michelle Obama out and about to talk about that downright mean Sarah Palin.

Yeah, that's the ticket

You all have heard Obama's doing Olbermann, right?
He's also planning on going on his tv show.

You mean the bulldog chewing a wasp?

Charlie (Colorado)

He's also planning on going on his tv show.

Doesn't the Obama campaign seem to give off a fey, effete scent? Assempling a phalanx of harpies to fend off Sarah is just a part of it.

All twelve of Olby's viewers are already voting for Obama. What a waste of time.

LOL Peter

Soylent Red

You all have heard Obama's doing Olbermann, right?

But will He call him in the morning?

"Assempling a phalanx of harpies to fend off Sarah is just a part of it."

Yes,and the women are worse.

In SAC the B 52 was the original BUFF.

Indeed. A friend flew one of those, and that's the only way he referred to it.

I wonder if Olbermann will get tears in his eyes, like he did with Bill Clinton (back in the day).

CEDARBURG, Wisc. -- Hundreds of angry people in this small town outside Milwaukee taunted reporters and TV crews traveling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!" ....

---I happened to be in this crowd and heard the interview. The reporter exagerates a little. The number of chanters in the crowd was in the tens, not hundreds (I did give a couple of shouts). Our crowd was very large perhaps three-four hundred of a couple thousand that couldn't get into the main venue of 8 thousand.

We weren't really booing either. It wasn't all anger either, it was mostly more of a taunt. They were mainly women in their fifties making schoolmarmish admonishm ents 'Be Fair (children)' to the press.

What the WaTimes reporter didn't catch was one of the reporters mocking us by prissily (hope that's a word) half bowing to us and mouthing 'I Promise'. The rest of our honored information bearers ignored us.

I am sure that his is one of the DriveByMedia outlets that is not in financial free fall, so he can continue to condescend to us.

The rally with the discarded moonbat flags is about to start.

I wonder who gets to make the announcement.

Did I read correctly upthread that Obama's dog was an Olbermann?

"But will He call him in the morning".

Yes,to tell him the cheque bounced.

They do that with dogs now? I thought sheep were more common.

"I wonder if Olbermann will get tears in his eyes, like he did with Bill Clinton (back in the day)."

He will if it is true what they say.

Dr. Dean Frasier

The comments by Obama and Biden regarding post facto prosecution of the Bush administration are made all the more distubing by the fact that, if elected, the vast majority of the press and other media will be willingly controlled by the Obama administration with help from Pelosi and Reid.

The comments regarding prosecutions are not the simple pandering to mollify the vile net roots faction that some think. The comments are clear indications that both men know quite well that if they are elected they will have unprecedented, unmonitored and uncontrolled power.

But will He call him in the morning?

Would anybody?

McCain campaign requests that if you don't want to take the flag and give it a "good" home, please return to the McCain campaign. They will be used by Veteran groups.....

Lately, yesterday and today, O! in shirtsleeves so WE CAN'T SEE FLAG PIN - IF IT'S STILL THERE!!

Charlie (Colorado)

Toasted again. I can't get in to edit the page right now. of course, it would be right after my cat Radar "helped" me with it.

I have always thought Olby did himself. AT LEAST that is what I have suggested to the television screen when he was on more than once!

Do you know if or when Stanley Kurtz is planning piece on his findings in the CAC files. Or has anyone posted anything on the links to the tax returns you posted?

Yeah, how about that bump in the Gallup polls! McCain is kicking ass!

McCain campaign requests that if you don't want to take the flag and give it a "good" home, please return to the McCain campaign. They will be used by Veteran groups.....

That is almost word-for-word what some Hot Air commenters said they suggested to the McCain campaign and the RNC via email....

Just how many "more than 1000 people" were there?

This might seem like small potatoes, but it comes down - again - to the press reporting one way for one candidate ("a crowd of 75,000″ comes out for Obama, but no mention of the free concert that went with his appearance) and another way ("more than 1000″ people come out for McCain in Cedarberg, WI - but people who were there say more like 12,000) for another.

It is true that 12,000 is "more than 1,000." ...ria

The rally with the discarded moonbat flags is about to start.

Ha, I just sprayed coffee all over my screen! I can just see it, the moonbats are looking at total DEFEAT with Palin on the ticket.

CNN is also covering the McCain rally.

SURPRISE!! Don't seem to be covering reason for all those waving flags!!

Betting that they will do their best to cut away or overtalk if Mac or Sarah refer to them.

Do you know if or when Stanley Kurtz is planning piece on his findings in the CAC files.

I don't know. Sadly, he has not answered my email. I would like to add documents that he uncovered, so that they can all be in one place. He may have an interest to write his piece first, though.

"He[BHO] reminds me of a teenager these days."

No kidding. When he was whining that "he wrote his own speeches." that is exactly what I thought. Plus, saying that after picking Joe "The Plagerist" Biden for a running mate? Well, in the immortal words of Bart Simpson, "The ironing was delicious."

Thanks for the info, red.
The press being silly about it is interesting. They demonstrate time after time that they are no more open to criticism than the candidates they cover.

hit and run

I think a good strategy would be to send Michelle Obama out and about to talk about that downright mean Sarah Palin.

Speaking of Michelle. All these comments by Dems and the media about Palin not being a good mom accepting the VP nod with 5 kids, one a Down Syndrome infant....anyone thought to ask Michelle "I wake up every morning wondering how on earth I am going to pull off that next minor miracle to get through the day" Obama about her career choices?

Because I do at the LUN (scroll down to the post below the breaking news that Oprah has PMS).

But I am done with SSPing...I swear.

I can't name them all, but there have been several things that the McCain campaign has done that makes me think they are monitoring some of the right wing blogs.

Apparently the Journalists must have just thought the folks in Cedarburg were angry. Why else would they be "taunting" journalists?

Of course, the torches and pitchforks might have been a giveaway.

Charlie (Colorado)

Okay, I recovered. 53 items now. (Note to the moonbats: yes, some of them are jokes. But then, some of the rumors are multi-item.)

Everythign is up on the backup site too.

20,246 views just now.

Jim Rhoads aka Vnjagvet

I think, Po, they have also broken the BHO campaign code. It seemse to me that someone is stealing its signals.

McCain and Palin need to split up and do different rallies. It's too awkward having he and Cindy standing there.

Tell us about the flags.

ChaCo's taking yeoman's work to the extreme again.

Chris of Rights

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that after the last week that it's Obama saying he won't be bullied and smeared?

Palin's the one that's gotten the crap kicked out of her by smears the last week, and how did she handle it? Complaining? Crying? No, with poise and class, and the best damn convention speech ever.

Another one for your rumors list, from a comment at AJ Strata.

Thanks. I guess will keep waiting. But I'm surprised that the Obama campaign hasn't tried to circumvent Kurtz yet with some sort of Friday document drop although that doesn't seem to work like it did before. Perhaps Palin and their own internals have them preoccupied.

Jane, I think the plan is for them to split up after tomorrow.

I think they will split beginning next week. Obama and Biden did the same thing and I thought the same thing about Obama standing there listening to Biden tell the crowd how the Messiah was here to save us all from ourselves.

Obama really just doesn't get it.

It's not just that Sarah Palin is a women ... she is "none of the above"

Frankly, when the name of Kathleen Sebelius, governor of Kansas, was floated just before the selection of Joe Biden, I felt it was over for McCain. Sebelius was a woman, helping with the Hiliary problem but without Hiliary's baggage, and like Palin she was a fresh face. But instead, Obama gave into the "Is He Ready?" meme of Team McCain and selected boring Joe Biden who is a political "no op".

The biggest mistake in this election cycle was starting so long ago that most of the voters are tired of these guys.

If the Democrats learn anything from this election, it should be that the extended election cycle is endangering them at the least, and perhaps, yet to be determined, leading to their failure. If the election were held in March, there would now be a President Obama.

The other lesson, yet to be learned, is that money, even lots of money, can't overcome fatigue. You can only stretch those "15 minutes" for so long.

Would you like some arugula with that whine?

Any day now, Chaco will be sitting around the Mondrian pool in speedos, sipping margaritas on the take from his website.

All: We have added new information to the Annenberg Challenge web page. It now has info on the Chicago Public Education Fund, including tax returns and annual reports.

It is in the usual location.

Things are looking grim for Obama in Michigan:

WSJ: McCain Makes a Run at Michigan, A Wavering Democratic Stronghold

Looking forward to seeing the next round of polling in MI, OH and PA.

Mo, too, porchlight. I think if there's no major mistake, the Midwest belongs to M/P

Charlie (Colorado)

Chaco will be sitting around the Mondrian pool in speedos, sipping margaritas on the take from his website.

I'll leave it to the interested student to figure out the two things wrong with that image.

I'd almost feel sorry for the MSM losers for their continuing cluelessness were it not for my feeling that they'd avert their gaze if I were to be sent off to be "re-educated" in the paradise world of their choice.

A former point guard who led her team to victory while playing on an injured ankle, who is currently up to running 3 miles every day or so, against a smoker, who preens for the media?

I'd like to see another MO straw poll like the AFB poll after the Palin Pick. I bet Barry Hussein won't make it out of the teens in rural area's now.

The D's are accusing the R's of stealing the flags.

Is this not a HOOT?

Captain Hate

If the Democrats learn anything from this election

Bwaahhh, surely you jest. I didn't think they could choose anyone more worthless than "Reporting for Doody" but they proved me wrong. It's hard to step down from the community organizer but unless they tell Soros and his lunatic minions to take a hike, I could see Kucinich and all his "experience" and confrontational attitude to be the missing ingredients that would've put them over the top in this year's fiasco.
