Personally I think after you've paid for your kids education and made sure your parents are taken care of, you should get a pass on recreational drugs.

Jane

I think more people in my age group (close enough to TM's) smoke pot now, than in any other age group. I'm constantly amazed when I hear about Dr. so and so and his wife, and Mr. CEO partake in weed. And I think they have been doing it since college. Tis fine with me.

Crimso

Clarice/Jane '08!!!

Sara (Pal2Pal)

A friend of mine retired recently, age 58. I asked him what he planned to do and he answered, roll a fat one. I laughed and he went on to say that now that he is retired and not subject to random drug tests, he was going to smoke dope if he felt like it.

Two of my friends have medical marijuana cards and can grow up to 6 or 12 plants, I forget, for their own consumption or go get an ounce from a central supply. One is 59, the other 64.

And after I had my stomach surgery for cancer, my doctor tried every drug on the market to help me overcome horrible nausea. Finally, he threw up his hands and told me to go smoke a joint.

Lastly a friend of my Mother's got a citation when she got caught with an ounce on her that she was taking home to her 81 year old husband going thru chemotherapy and considered terminal.

Out here in Calif. the question would more likely be who is not on drugs.

bad

I thought Who is on first.

Rick Ballard

Pawlenty would have been a horrible pick. I've never heard him speak before and hope never to hear him speak again. Frist isn't much better.

Jane

Okay I'm here and I have sound but no picture.
How screwed up is this.

Sue

Do you know anyone addicted to Meth?

Sue

Jane,

Try Hot Air. They are livestreaming the convention. I haven't watched it, so I can't tell you how well it works, but if you aren't getting anything now...

Jane

Okay now I have Cspan on my computer. (I know no one cares about these updates, but I feel compelled to post them.)

Jane

I will Sue, thanks. BTW what happened to Barry on O'reilly?

Sara (Pal2Pal)

I care.

Sue

I don't know. I'm boycotting O'Reilly.

Boycott O'Reilly!

jean

Lordy Bill Frist has put on some weight.Once we had Frist and Thompson as our senators.Life was good. Now we have Corker and Alexander. How a great state has fallen

MayBee

O'Reilly, who I will not admit to watching right now, just said Obama talks about Ayers and the Woods foundation on the segment to air Tuesday.

MayBee

He hasn't been on yet. Or so I hear.

clarice

O Reilly says he did ask Obama about Ayres and CAC (will be on next Tuesday).

Sue

MayBee,

I'll pretend I didn't notice...

Boycott O'Reilly!

Jane

Okay, Hot Air crashed my computer. I've got Cspan and audio on Fox. What a joke.

Sue

I sense a revolt...

DebinNC

I was hoping tonight would focus on the economy and McCain's domestic agenda, but the speakers so far don't seem to be building up to such a speech from McCain. It's too generic, and that's a lost opportunity and terrible mistake imo.

Pofarmer

I sorta figured that after the lineup last night that tonight was going to be a let down. I'm afraid I will be right judging from what I've seen so far.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Survey USA: Independents who think Palin’s an asset to the campaign jump 13 points overnight

Sue

It can't be any worse than one after another down on their luck democrat telling us how horrible their life was and why don't you just give me something to make it better.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

G.I. John and Superwoman signs. LOL.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Exercise break

DebinNC

Jane, for what it's worth, you're not missing anything noteworthy convention-wise thus far imo. In fact, watching it is depressing me.

hit and run

Jane:
BTW what happened to Barry on O'reilly?

I'm boycotting O'Reilly to honor Sue.

But I heard he was going to drop out, but chickened out.

If I heard it right from my unnamed source, O'Reilly confronted him with the rumor -- asked him point blank, "No spin, Senator Obama, yes or no are you going to drop out". Obama responded, "Present".

Elliott

Where are all the Obama ads? He had a lot during the Olympics. Isn't there supposed to be a congratulatory message too?

DebinNC

Could there be less excitement on display? Could there be less inspirational speakers? Could there be a lineup less likely to keep uncommitted voters watching until McCain speaks? I don't think so.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

It will be slow for awhile, the Westcoasters are still on their way home from work. Only 5:38 out here.

bad

Olby is stuttering more than Obama.

Jane

LOL Hit.

Obama is running a little short on money these days. I'm sure George Clooney came thru in Switzerland.

Oh and don't worry about Central MA watching. Cable is out all over.

Sue

And in other news, the NY Giants are beating the Redskins at the start of the 3rd quarter. Hard to decide who to root for, since I hate both teams.

bad

Sue

The thing on Obama's nose is enormous and they shot him from that side. They coulda switched sides.

Rick Ballard

Deb,

They put the hot speakers up last night to lead into Palin. McCain is going to look good after these people. It's that 100W v 60W deal again. All 40Ws so far tonight.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Oooooh, my guy Brian Clay.

Ann

Obama has more gray hairs, a large boil on his face (maybe it's a wart Jane) and still says Tally-bon. He thinks if Iran gets a nuke it is a game changer. Ya think?

Sue

bad,

Is it a pimple or is it the mole that has always been there? It could also be Keith Olbermann.

Bill in AZ

I heard Obama was going to concede the election tonight, but O'Reilly talked him out of it.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

The first tier speakers won't start until 9 pm ET.

DebinNC

"McCain is going to look good after these people.'

Dennis Kucinich would look after these people, although this Olympian is a breath of fresh air.

MayBee

Boycott O'Reilly!

Nobody, including Bush, expected the surge to be this successful. But Obama wasn't wrong about it when he voted against it, because O'Reilly wasn't paying attention to the debate at the time.

DebinNC

Well, at least Joe Gibbs is enjoying himself.

Rick Ballard

Sue,

Not a mole. Might be a wart though. Or a wen - a really ugly wen.

bad

The growth is too attractive to be Olby. Too smart also...

Ann

Zero says the SURGE WORKED. We have reduced the violence but politically nothing has changed and we are spending to much money. O'Reilly agrees with the money.

We wasted 10 billion dollars with President General Pervez Musharraf. Pakistan wants to invade India? (Not clear on that)

That's it. He will be on O'Reilly next week on Mon, Tues and Wed.
Good Grief

Sorry Sue. I never watch O'Reilly so I hope you forgive me for one night.

tina

CNN and MSNBC are having hissy fits because the RNC "dared" to play a tape of 9/11.

CNN "its the politics of fear" (and then I turned the channel).

MSNBC: "I'm sorry you had to see that".

Rick Ballard

The teleprompter is screwy again. Gibbs is looking to notes rather than the screen.

Or maybe he can't use a teleprompter?

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Exercise Break #2

Sue

MSNBC: "I'm sorry you had to see that".

But not sorry that we saw 4 days of Bristol Palin's baby bulge.

Captain Hate

MSNBC: "I'm sorry you had to see that".

When you have really, really low ratings, you have to go to great lengths to coddle your paltry viewers.

JM Hanes

Deb:

Oddly enough, Kucinich was the most effective rabble rouser of the bunch on the night he spoke.

I'm praying that there's a prime time convention scheduled to start at 9:00. This line up is definitely not warming up the crowd. Tonight's theme is "Peace: A Safer and More Secure America" which worries me a little. I was hoping for a somewhat more expansive message since this is the only time huge chunk of the electorate will be watching him till the debates. I can't quarrel with the McCain campaign's design so far though, so maybe they'll come through again.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Obama should be happy, we just sent ground forces into Pakistan.

Remember, BTW, that O'Reilly is always lagging the news by about 3 weeks. He is lame.

Jane

Bill,

I repeated that rumor where left wingers hang out, and they said: "The right are the biggest rumor mongers on earth. We'll see about that."

I said it would be within 24 "business" hours.

hit and run

DebinNC:
Dennis Kucinich would look after these people, although this Olympian is a breath of fresh air.

Now wait a second. Kucinich is pretty entertaining. And he can dance at least as good as half the RNC delegates.

Sue

http://www.pittsburghrantsandraves.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/barack-obama-08-desktop-wallpaper.jpg>Mole?

I didn't watch it, but Obama has a mole on the side of his nose. I noticed it a long time ago. Is it the same or was it on the other side?

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Lineup:

Lindsey Graham
Cindy McCain
John McCain at 10:10 pm

They have to wait for the football game to get over.

Elliott

Who's On Drugs?

Isn't that the middle name of some politician?

PeterUK

"The thing on Obama's nose is enormous and they shot him from that side. They coulda switched sides."

They couldn't Obama is on the other side.

Captain Hate

Kucinich is seriously fugly; have any of you seen that dweeb up close? Vomit in the mouth time.

bad

Its much bigger than it is in the picture.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

3rd Quarter

Giants 16
Redskins 7

Sue

bad,

Is it in the same place? Does he have "cancer"?

DebinNC

"Tonight's theme is "Peace: A Safer and More Secure America" which worries me a little."

Oh dear. I hoped McCain would go with "Our Change v. Their Change" and focus on the economy and energy, because that's where Obama's "McCain doesn't get it" theme is most effective imo. If this night is mainly a hymn to McCain the Warrior/CiC, he will have lost his best chance to make his case.

JM Hanes

"O Reilly says he did ask Obama about Ayres and CAC (will be on next Tuesday)."

It does help to know just how fast the work on CAC documents needs to go in order to be ready to counter the spin. I clearly need to schedule more time for the effort between now and then! This is looking like a last night off....

hit and run

Sue:
I didn't watch it, but Obama has a mole on the side of his nose.

It was bigger in the Olbermann interview.

It would be irresponsible to suggest that growth might represent something medically threatening to Obama.

Afterall, we have his medical records to assuage any fears.

Do you say records with an 's' if we're just talking about a one page summary??

Jane

It looks like cancer. Or maybe Gemini. But I really don't think we can risk electing a president who has the zodiac on his face.

Sue

Intercepted! I'm not sure I care. ::hmmm::

JM Hanes

Elliott: "middle name" LOL! You've been on a roll for days now!

bad

Does he have "cancer"?

Only of the soul so far as I know.

M. Simon

Re: old folks and drugs.

Pot is better than viagra.

Captain Hate

Intercepted! I'm not sure I care

I care dammit; Go Skins!!!!

Sara (Pal2Pal)

I'm sick of the word change, I like my country, I'm not all that enthusiastic about changing it. And security is still my number #1 issue.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Watermelon rind is cheaper than Viagara.

Ann

You can say it at this convention "WE ARE WINNING".

- Sen. Lindsey Graham

Love it.

Rick Ballard

Could it be something like what happened to Sigourney Weaver in Alien? The start of whatever fills the void where heart and backbone should be, clawing it's way out?

Probably not. It's probably something very mundane.

Like leprosy.

JM Hanes

Sue:

"Does he have "cancer"?"

Apparently not, but there's a compelling reason to ask questions about who is qualified to step into Joe Biden's shoes.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Could we stop talking about BO's nose, I'm starting to feel queasy.

Sue

JMH,

He should look into seeing whether or not they did remove part of his brain.

hit and run

Have you seen those ears?

Ann

Do the background pictures bother anyone? Why don't they have pictures of our troops while Graham is speaking?

I think the guy/gal running the teleprompter picked the pictures.

bad

Global warming is causing forestation on his face.

M. Simon

My guess is that security will be tied in to drill, drill, drill.

M. Simon

Watermelon rind is seasonal.

hit and run

Oh we shouldn't take the growth on the nose thing too far.

[VIMH: What would be too far?]
Something like ... it's an anal wart from having his head up his ass most of his adult life.

That, is too far, I think.

[VIMH: Thanks]
Just doing my part

bad

LOL

Ann

Hit, you so funny. I love you. :)

Sara (Pal2Pal)

That's the can do military way.

bad

Sara

Please tell me you are writing a book.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

They played Heart's "Barracuda" immediately after Palin's nomination was in the books.

Elliott

JMH,

On the subject of Obama's fundraising haul over the past 24 hours, I am still curious why, unless I am just missing it, there has not been a substantial amount of Obama advertising* during the Republican convention.
_____________________
*By which I mean commercials paid for by the Obama campaign.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Yeah, bad, "A Bitch's Tale"

hit and run

FINALLY: Geraghty gives us the definition of Community Organizer:

The only "community organizer" I knew growing up was Al Sharpton's work in New York City, and he seemed to define his job as going into a bad situation and making sure it got worse, sometimes to the point of murderous arson.

Elliott

Ridge said some called the founders "mavericks." Merriam-Webster says the word dates from 1867.

M. Simon

I'm just wondering if Obama's report of 10 mn is real?

The MSM says Obama is down in fund raising and all of a sudden he gets a surge.

Makes one wonder.

sbw

I'll watch football instead of Lindsay Graham. The only time he impressed me was in one hearing -- and I can't remember which -- which was a Democratic show trial. He asked the only decent questions, well ordered and designed to elicit useful information from the witnesses.

However, when Lindsay gets off on a spiel, he's like a loose cannon on a run, and he can't seem to go from first principles to conclusion.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

So someone in 1868 couldn't call the founders Mavericks. Many of them were.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Are you guys on a delay? I'm watch film on Cindy.

clarice

It's a very nice film..
