hit and run

From the Weekly Standard:

Obama spokesman Bill Burton sends an email to reporters with the subject line: "Just asking: What part of the country isn't pro-America?"

Burton writes:

From the Washington Post today: …Palin also made a point of mentioning that she loved to visit the "pro-America" areas of the country, of which North Carolina is one.

Wow. A real stumper.

Let me think here for a minute.

Oh wait. I know, Barack's own South Side of Chicago...maybe Obama's spiritual mentor

"God bless America? No, no, no. God Damn America!"

Or, uh...how about Obama's own $%&#@ing neighborhood...

"I don't regret setting bombs...I feel we didn't do enough"

Jane Plumber

How dare Obama tell anyone who he wants appointed. And Mukasey sure as hell better not be his chump.

sylvia

I'm still thinking about that Pakistan article:

"His freshman roommates were Imad Husain... As a freshman, he quickly became friends with Mohammed Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, two wealthy Pakistanis...In 1981, Obama transferred from Occidental to Columbia. In between, he traveled to Pakistan, traveling with Hamid and staying in Karachi with Chandoo’s family...He was clearly shocked by the economic disparity he saw in Pakistan....When Obama arrived in New York, he already knew Siddiqi - a friend of Chandoo’s and Hamid’s from Karachi who had visited Los Angeles...In about 1982, Siddiqi and Obama got an apartment at a sixth-floor walkup on East 94th Street"

I'm sorry, but that all to me means Obama was a Muslim. Then add to that his father was a Muslim, his step father was a Muslim, his mother probably was one too if she married two Muslim men and lived in Pakistan, and then also Ayers became somewhat of a Muslim.

I know it's not PC to question this, and again, not that it matters that BHO is Muslim, I would have no problem with that, but I hate how he tries to hide his true self all the time. He could at least say, I USED to be a Muslim, but now I am a Christian. But to pretend that he was never a Muslim up until adulthood I think is shakey.

badjoe

Here is a website that has collected video of Ayers and Dorn at SDS reunions. They are tedious to sit through but you will see these people have no regrets for what they did.

Jim Rhoads:
I just accepted an assignment for the Republican legal team in Charlotte, NC for the Monday through Wednesday of election week

Awesome. Can I offer to come down and buy you a lunch or dinner or cup of coffee or ...? I'd come down in a heartbeat to do so. I'd offer you a bed on which to sleep, but know that we're an hour and a half north or Charlotte. But we do offer free wi-fi and continental breakfast at the Hit And Run Inn.

Not too mention happy hour. Seven days a week.

sylvia

Okay I just had a crazy thought. No one remembers Obama from Columbia, but it seems he did attend there according to school records. Did Barack go by a nickname back then? Perhaps a Muslim nickname he got in Pakistan? That could be why no one can place him?

Or if we really want to get crazy and out there, maybe he had someone stand in for him at achool, ala Bernadine Dohrn helping him with his law work. If they did that at law school, why not help him with his undergrad too while he was off helping Ayers and Dohrn. Okay I admit that's nuts, but it's also kind of nuts they can't dig up a handful of people who knew him back then.

Hit:

Where are you in relation to Charlotte? I'm coming from Atlanta.

M. Simon

Obama cuts National Anthem from rally. Why? It takes too much time.

jim Rhoads aka vnjagvet

The Kondrake take on Joe on Fox tonight:

McCain is wrong to use him as the poster child for everyman. He's atypical is the short way to make his point, but he took a long time to say it in his wonky way.

I'd say that settles it. Pound on Joe until the election.

The Axelrod a**holes will continue to trash him.

The more they trash him the more traction his story will get.

And guess what everyman will think?

hit and run

Jim, I'm north of Charlotte...on the north side of Greensboro. Definitely not on the way from Atlanta, but, definitely within driving distance for me to come there...

Boatbuilder

I'm 48 and was 9 years old in '68. My memories of the 60's are very vague (hell, my memories of last year are pretty vague). One thing I do remember is the name Bernadine Dohrn. (Ayers, not so much) It's a pretty unique name and had been in a lot of news reports about the Weather Underground. If I knew who she was, Obama certainly did--especially with his background. He is simply lying when he claims he didn't know who those people were.

Charlie (the Colorado plumber)

Well, McCain was all over the Joe story today, and they did quite a bit with it on Fox News.

Syl

Here is something else the MSM is burying. If the voters knew this and understood the devastation this would be to our economy it would sink Obama. But nobody knows.

Obama to declare CO2 a pollutant under the Clean Air Act

How many new power plants do you think will be built under Obama's regime? Prepare for blackouts, people.

jim Rhoads aka vnjagvet

I'll meet you half way Hit. I've driven that route many times on the way to DC.

Who needs a McCain/Palin sign, how about just a plumber's helper in the front yard.

You might be a redneck if you've already got a collection out there.

Somebody once offered to trade me his collection of 3,000 hammers for a '60 Matador wagon, 4-door, not 2-door, for you Hitchcock fans, and I regret not doing it at the time. I brought it up later, but he'd reconsidered. He'd spent years finding them at sales, in the country. Today, it would be museum grade. My car? Sis got it.

sylvia, 6:07, I think you have an excellent point there. His Christianity is suspect and he has displayed all the moves of a practiced Taqiyah Warrior. I don't know if he is, but if he is, we'd be fools to be surprised. Rejection of the faith as an adult is punishable by death, and were he a Muslim, there are witnesses to that. Interestingly, we have not heard from any, not a single one, of many possible such witnesses.

FYI on Columbia U today. 1000 students per year is nothing. That's like my highschool. If you don't everyone at those numbers, something is weird.

1. How many students attend Columbia?
Undergraduate enrollment is approximately 4100 in Columbia College and 1300 in The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.

2. What is the percentage of students of color on campus?
Over 40% of our undergraduate student body identify themselves as students of color. Diversity has long been recognized as one of Columbia’s hallmarks. Recently, Black Enterprise Magazine ranked Columbia as the top Ivy League university for African American students. Hispanic Magazine ranked Columbia as one of the top ten colleges in America for Latino/a students.

3. What is the percentage of international students on campus?
Roughly 10% of our undergraduate student body identify themselves as foreign or international.

5. What percentage of students live on campus?
Columbia undergraduate students are guaranteed housing for all four years. Nearly all undergraduates live on campus all four years and first-year students are expected to live on campus.

6. Are students required to live on campus?
Columbia is first and foremost a residential college; first-year students expected to live on campus. Upperclassmen may choose to live off campus if they wish, but nearly all of the student body chooses to reside on campus all four years.

Extraneus

I read about how Mukasey should answer that the DoJ is the right place for the voter fraud investigation, and that SPs are normally only associated with executive branch investigations. But voter fraud that elects a new President could never be fairly investigated by that fraud's Justice Department. Mukasey should say "You're right, we do need a Special Prosecutor, but it wouldn't be right to appoint a person requested by one of the campaigns."

I think he should do it now, before the election, before he could be accused of favoritism.

sylvia

"he has displayed all the moves of a practiced Taqiyah Warrior"

I don't know what that is. But I do know it is acceptable for Muslims to blend into infadel culture to perform jihad.

kim

I'm not sure of the precise meaning either, but it involves deception about your self.
===================================

sylvia

That's the problem with Obama.
Is there deception? Everything is hidden, covered up. You just don't know what you are going to get. I'm a centrist, I have no problem with some of the social services Obama is touting. But is that all we are going to get?

sylvia

"Columbia undergraduate students are guaranteed housing for all four years. "

Okay, I don't know if it was the same 25 years ago, but I assume it probably was, given the worse state the neighborhood in Uptown was back then. So what about that story of Obama from his memoir arriving in NYC with no where to stay, and he slept in a hallway? And then he and the drug addict Sadiki swindled their way into an apartment on 94th street. Why would BHO do that if he had cushy housing guaranteed on campus? I further have a feeling his memoir is a cover up to give him an alibi for those years.

And 1,000 students per class, and no one remembers a striking looking, mixed race person like Obama? I had more than 1,000 students in my freshman dining hall.

RichatUF

kim-

...Nora Dannaher so quickly. They must have a lot of confidence in this woman. I wonder why?

I thought that too. I did a bit of googling and she didn't have any sort of obvious connection to ACORN or SEIU, but did sack the CT Gov. and Treasurer. A pretty good perch for someone looking for permanent employment, get named "Special Prosecutor" and spend the next 4 years investigating the previous four years.

sylvia

And why would Obama want to live with a self described admitted loser, drug addict whom he barely knew, when he said was trying to live a clean drug free life at Columbia? Why do that and risk those influences when you had good free housing on campus, closer to the libraries, easier to study. After all getting around back then in that area was a risk to self with all the crime there. It doesn't add up.

kim

Guaranteed, though, might not have meant cheap. I suppose it's possible he did it for money, and may also have not been intimidated by the neighborhood.
==========================================

PeterUK

Everyone is a Plumber now.

kim

Right Rich, job security for her, God knows what for me.
===================================

badjoe

Sylvia, what school has free, on-campus housing?

sylvia

Possible. I suppose the next step to research is what kind of housing costs there are in Columbia. Are there grants, is it included, can you get money back if you choose not to live on campus. I know the minority students I went to college with had almost a free ride, housing included. I doubt it was any different for Obama. Also, I would think Obama, as a mover and a shaker, would want to be near campus to get involved in student life, not living with some washed up addict- that was hardly the way to get ahead.

badjoe

Peter, I'll bet Joe the Plumber is the hottest Halloween costume this year.

Extraneus

A pretty good perch for someone looking for permanent employment, get named "Special Prosecutor" and spend the next 4 years investigating the previous four years.

I agree, if it couldn't be strictly limited to voter fraud. If it could, I wouldn't mind if 4-years-ago were brought into the investigation. I'd be confident that any voter fraud ever perpetrated was more likely perpetrated by a Democrat than any other partisan.

Isn't it possible to limit a SP's mandate to a specific crime?

sylvia

I mean I never heard of Occidental College being cheap. If he could afford that, why all of a sudden the lack funds for Columbia housing?

Ann hearts Joe Plumber

I haven't gotten a McCain Palin sign yet, so tomorrow I think I will purchase two plungers and place them in my urns out front. :)

Ann, that is an awesomw idea. Our Halloween scarecrow can wield a plunger as well.

Rick Ballard

McCain should grab a plunger at the beginning of every speech and pledge to unclog the drains in DC.

I wonder if the campaign has considered asking folks to bring a plunger.

GET THE CRAP OUT OF DC on a streamer attached to the handle would make a nice statement.

badjoe

Rick I LOVE that idea!!

clarice the plumber

Jim, I think Mort is mentally slipping at an alarming rate.

clarice the plumber

People are showing up at rallies for Obama with plungers in hand...

Ann hearts Joe Plumber

PUK, you and Clarice better corner the market on plungers quick. I see a foreseeable price hike and market niche.

clarice the plumber

Damn, Ann--I might be too late..why didn't we think of that earlier??

sylvia

This whole idea that Ayers ghost wrote Obama's memoir has gotten me thinking. For instance it's getting me to question a lot of details that were inlcuded in the story and makes me wonder why those details were included. The story of Obama sleeping in the hallway the first night he got to NYC. I tend to think Obama or most people are a little more organized than that, and would have some plans on where to sleep the first night. A convenient way to explain why he rang up Saki out of the blue. Also of Sadike being a drug addict. Why did we need to know that? Was it to discredit him as a source on Obama's time there? Then the detail of how Sadiki forged the rental agreement. Why was that included? Was it a coverup to provide back up as to why Obama had no records about where he lived then. Obama could then say, well my roommate put bogus information on the rental, that's why there's no information today.

A lot of detail that seems unnecassry for a memoir, but looking at it with another view, seems that it might be included for a reason.

Jim Ryan

Clarice, gotcha, in re: con law textbooks. Thx.

Ann hearts Joe Plumber

Really Clarice, I think I will buy all the plungers I can find tomorrow along with some red, white, and blue paint. I could make a good sum painting and selling patriotic plungers.

sylvia

Okay one more, sorry. So the story is Obama rang Sadiki, a drug addict guy he barely knew from LA, out of the blue the first night he was in NYC because he was sleeping in a hallway. And then he ended up living with the guy for two years? How surendipitous. And even though he gets guranteed, probably subsized housing on campus, where almost all other Columbia students live? Come on. I don't buy that. I don't buy the impromptu nature of this.

You're making a lot of sense, sylvia. There's no way the Isalmic students would have accepted an avowed Christian black into their fold in those days. A Nation of Islam one, maybe, but not a Christian.

Remember, Obama's day wasn't so long after the Iran hostage situation, and Muslim Student Assocations were quite active at the time, at least in NY.

Extraneus-

I was being cheeky, and not very good at it.

Obama's going to need to demonize a lot of enemies: mid-level Bush appointee's, state level GOP elected officals, SES, career bureaucrats-Obama could appoint a "Special Prosecutor" for the whole of the Bush Administation (his government-within-a government actually) to make sure the Dem's don't have competition for a least a generation and to honeycomb the bureaucracy with the next generation of traitors. He'll start out small, but these sorts of things always land disproportionately on the lower levels.

Hope people are paying attention to what is happening to Joe the Plumber and what happened previously to the Haditha Marines or these guys from the 3rd Infantry Division.

I haven't checked recently regarding the Spanish case, but that story still pisses me off (the tank gunner at the time was a 19 year old PFC) and it will be repeated with a vengeance if Obama is elected. Pretty tough to defend Europe when every country in Europe is prosecuting US service personnel and Obama too much of a pissant to stop them.

badjoe

Great ads Rick. I really like the yellow gloves on Palin. You, sir, are a gentleman.

Going OT for a bit:

Isn't this cute. The head stenographers for the Obama/ACORN campaign are now turning the ACORN vote fraud investigations into racist McCain-Palin attacks. Didn't take them long.

An ACORN community organizer received a death threat and the liberal activist group's Boston and Seattle offices were vandalized Thursday, reflecting mounting tensions over its role in registering 1.3 million mostly poor and minority Americans to vote next month

Stay classy McClatchy. Some girl received a "death threat" for registering the poor and minorities in Rhode Island. Seems awfully convenient an outbreak of violence (in big liberal cities, yes) would be directed at ACORN, which would require investigation by the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, right after the FBI launches an investigation for nationwide vote fraud and the Ohio clusterfuck.

What? Are you kidding?
I knew a guy in college (and was friendly with him) who got into politics early. Years later when he saw me at an event and realized I was volunteering at a high level, he asked me to be on a committee. He and I come from very different philosophical and political perspectives but we worked together fine. A few years pass, I was asked to run for city council by some folks. His endorsement would have meant nothing to the general public but within his party...well, I raised almost forty percent of my campaign money from contributors from his party. Some of that likely came from his okay that I was a guy who listened and was civil to all sides. Does that mean anything? Am I culpable for anything he's done? No to both. Do I give him special deals? No more than I ever did before - which was equivalent to listening to his position if I ran across him.
Get a grip. Politicians aren't raised in Petri Dishes. You have to work with people you agree with and people you don't to get things done. Some folks may like your positions, some may like your position on a single issue, and some may respect that you aren't an asshole when you disagree with them.
Politics to me means many people with different opinions finding solutions to problems.
I sure as hell don't endorse every experience, view, or opinion of anyone that I've worked with. And yet, I've worked with them - to get things done.

clarice the plumber

I'm sticking to my guns that the Reichstag Fire is the current financial crisis. It has far too much of that "reflexivity" and "incindiary attack" feel.

It is unsurprising that ACORN would be trashing their offices and employees would be making up stories (like journalists) to run interference for their other operations. I'm pretty sure if some intrepid newspaper editors wanted to have the story of the decade they could pull some of their dumster divers off Joe the Plumber duty and put them on plumbing the depths of the sewer of Obama's campaign: illegal coordination between a company (ACORN) and a campaign; illegal campaign contributions; voter registration fraud; voter fraud; identity theft; mail fraud; wire fraud; tax fraud.

It's just more important to the entire MSM that Obama get elected. It doesn't really matter how, because once he's in that sort of behavior wouldn't follow him into office. He's too smooth, poised. He's got verve, sang froid.
