Jiminy, Dice-K showed nothing and after five the Red Sox are getting shelled 5-0 by the Rays.
Evan Longoria has yet another home run, giving him four against Boston and two against the Chi Sox. Don't anyone wake him up and tell him he's a rookie in the playoffs.
THUNDER AND LIGHTNING: My goodness, over their two playoff series the Rays have 19 home runs and 16 stolen bases. By way of comparison, the Phillies managed 10 and 7.
For the stats mavens - what team(s) managed more home runs through the first two rounds? More stolen bases? More of both in the same season? A per-game comparison would be even more interesting, since if the Rays wrap it up tonight they will have only played two over the minimum.
BOMBS AWAY: Not quite an answer, but the 1956 Yankees had 12 HR in the Series; the 2002 Giants with a steroid-enhanced Bary Bonds had 14 while losing to the Angels.
SADDLE UP THE COMEBACK PONY: Down 7-0, the Red Sox use a blast from Ortiz to come half-way back, 7-4 in the 7th.
BEDLAM IN BEANTOWN: JD Drew makes it 7-6 in the 8th with the Red Sox still batting and no one out.
The inning ends at 7-7. The biggest post-season comeback is the ancient 10-8 game won by the Philadelphia As over the Cubs, who led 8-0. Hmm, that was the Crash of '29.
I did not tun this on at 5-0 with the thought of being subjected to free baseball.
A MOMENT LATER: And I won't be - Red Sox exploit a two out throwing error by Evan Longoria and JD Drew delivers the game-ending single in the ninth.
Eva Longoria? I don't think I'd get to first base.

The Sox won. Tampa is toast if it comes to a Game 7. I think they have allowed the shark to smell blood.
And Devil rays are no match for Sharks :-(

Holy carp!
Red Soxer Jane,
I'm on a layover in some bar in Princeton, NJ. (Yankee doodle's Pub first, then WinBerries). That comeback was amazing! Even drinking bottled Yiengling at 3 bucks a pop it was amazing. Had to wash it all down with a Guiness just to get my head on straight but man, that comeback was amazing. An absolutely fascinating sociological experience. All these folks sitting around being humdrum and blase' etc for 8 innings, and then suddenly it's 7 to 7 and astoundingly tons of closet Red Sox Fans come popping out screaming bloody murder. Then J.D. Drew slams that final clutch hit to right field and the place erupts in woo woo's and in-your-face moonwalks and other assorted nuttiness. I know nothing about this place except that George Washington saved it when all was lost, and that the bar gal's at Yankee Doodle's swear Albert Einstein carved his name on dinner table number 42, but other than that, what a wonderfully fun place to catch a sudden death Bosox pennant game. Thank goodness for the Guiness to sober me up as I'd have been moonwalking too. The lesson to learn I suppose, in life as in sports, is the one Mister Churchill told us "Never give up, never give up, never give up, never, never, never, give up. Point taken Winston.

I,m thinking of all them BoSox fans exiting their seats after the Rays went up 7 zip. What must they be thinking? I'm glad I learned at an early age to never leave a contest until the final buzzer, gun, out, whatever. It's never over til it's over!

Thinking? They're bandwagon whore Red Sox fans, the most irritating fucks in the world. They're probably Obastard fans also, to give you some idea of the type of shit they immerse themselves in on a regular basis.

Captain;
shame, shame.....yes, Massachusetts should by all rights turn into a pillar of salt, but there a few few good people left there, so it won't happen yet....

You see Longoria blowing a bubble with his gum when he made the throw to first? The next shot had him throwing his gum to the ground, have to guess some one from the dugout suggested he get rid of the gum.
Everyone in the lineup scored exactly 1 run for the 8 run total except Tek.
