It's 9 o'clock - do you know where your candidates are?
McCain has lost Pennsylvania but networks have yet to call Virginia, North Carolina or Ohio. Not to mention Florida and Indiana.
OOPS - Obama takes Ohio, per Fox, at 9:20. My "Over by 10" call is coming together. That said, some blonde Fox analyst just said its over for McCain.
EERILY PRESCIENT: Apparently Fox was the first to call Ohio. That jibes with my Bold Prediction that Fox would be the first to call the night for Obama.
Fah, it's all exit polls.

If McCain had run against the Bush bailout, he would have had a powerful message and totally tapped a vein. He would be winning in a landslide. McCain is a RINO who does not understand or trust the free market or understand microeconomics. He also does not understand the pulse of the people. You all RINOs and McCain deserve your whipping.

John McCain is such a good man.
What an incredible life. I hope he serves as inspiration for anybody going through a hard time, that feels he may not be able to hold on.
I am sad for him tonight. He would have made a great President.

Posted by: Jor | November 04, 2008 at 10:19 PM
Yeah, and you know what, TCO? You'll keep saying that until you figure out you got what you wished for.
And McCain will know that he fought to keep the US from going in the crapper in a massive depression, because that's what he does, whether it's to his advantage or not.
And then you'll change your handle and complain about what a bastard Obama is.
Posted by: Charlie (Colorado) | November 04, 2008 at 10:20 PM
In spite of the inroads of alternate media that tries valiantly to offset the lies, obfuscations, and omissions of the MSM, it is apparent that the unelected, unaccountable media still runs this country.
Obama didn't win, and McCain/Palin didn't lose. This entire election, in fact the politics of the last too many years to count, have been choreographed by the media and a very few socialist puppet masters.
It would be comforting to blame this on weapons grade stupidity of the electorate, but most people are not even remotely aware of the control the media has over them.
We will get nowhere in trying to save the country that our founding fathers created until the media, as it exists today, is destroyed.

I didn't wish for it. I wanted Palin to win. With McCain dying about Feb 1st from a stray Cheney duck-hunting pellet. I told you all that the bailout would kill McCain. It sapped all the heart of conservatism. And allowed the democrats cover for voting a trillion dollars to their shmuck NYC financiers.
Posted by: TCO | November 04, 2008 at 10:26 PM

Posted by: PD | November 04, 2008 at 10:27 PM
I saw this post at Stratasphere. I disagree with the last sentence:
So all McCain’s years of pandering to Hispanics got him nothing from them. They are natural Democrats outside of Cuban parts of South Florida - and even there they are moving left. The polls from New Mexico said Hispanics were motivated almost entirely by economic issues - spreading the wealth, etc. Though Hispanic hostility to Gringo wars also helped Obama. (The Mexican media - so popular in NM - portrayed the Iraq war as one between ‘browns’ and ‘whites’).
John Murtha got in too. His courageous stand on the war paid off.
The disastrous Iraq war and the name Bush have sunk the Republican Party. When the legacy of open borders is added that’s pretty much it for US conservatives. Frankly they deserve it. If Republicans want to recover they need to move well to the left or to play identity politics.
Posted by: peter | November 04, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Uh Jor -- it was your democrats in congress and Carter and Clinton who decided that everyone needed to own a home regardless of their ability to pay for it that put us in this mess. It's well documented if you would choose to pay attention.
Posted by: Lori | November 04, 2008 at 10:28 PM
TCO, you wished for McCain to lose. You don't get another option.
Oh, and here's a hint: if the credit crunch had continued, McCain would have lost by more.

Posted by: Jor | November 04, 2008 at 10:43 PM
McCain selecting Palin (who is very conservative) drove him to being 3% up and favored by Tradesports. at 60-40 odds. The real message of drill baby drill resonated. If McCain had gone against the bailout, he would have been in Victory Lane tonight. Instead, he did the wrong thing, both policy-wise and politically...and helped give the Democrats cover for a 1 trillion wealth transfer. And killed the heart of the base.

Posted by: Sue | November 04, 2008 at 10:47 PM
TCO -- Nobody liked the bail-out bill. Republican or Democrat. He would have won the base and independants leaning Obama. The problem was all the "washington wise men" said you must give Paulson a blank check. McCain is a true believer of washington wise men. The same ones that led us into Iraq. There was no way he was going to turn against it.
Posted by: Jor | November 04, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Jor: You are right. That's why he deserves to lose. He believes in the wisdom of men to control markets. And Paulson isn't even a smart financier. He rose to the top of Goldman through corporate politics. He's not even bright.
Posted by: TCO | November 04, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Posted by: Charlie (Colorado) | November 04, 2008 at 10:59 PM
The folks I am really sad for are the Millenials, the generation of my kids (who apparently voted for Obama in large numbers). Young adults have a lot of trouble getting decent jobs in socialist Europe. The Obama/Reid/Pelosi Axis of Statism may have enough of a Congressional majority to adopt Eurosocialist policies here. It will be young adults who will be among those most affected by the economic decline that will follow from these policies.
Now, on a brighter note,we are a resilient people. The Axis of Statism and naïve conciliatory internationalism need not be forever. Let us smile tomorrow and congratulate Obama's supporters. And let us also resolve to ourselves to employ a steely discipline and determination in our own lives to, in whatever way we can, undercut the Axis of Statism at every turn.

Posted by: Jim Ryan | November 04, 2008 at 11:04 PM
TCO, I know this is a pretty fancy deduction for you, but figure it out: if you withheld a vote for McCain over the bailout, you voted for Obama --- who also voted for the bailout --- and who is also in favor of a lot of things you don't like.
Oh, and did you happen to nitice that the market is back up about 2000 points and the credit crunch has gone away? As predicted?
So you might as well change your handle now, because every time you complain about anything Obama and the D's do, I'm going to answer with "you voted for them, you idiot."
Posted by: Charlie (Colorado) | November 04, 2008 at 11:04 PM
