Of course, Reid's biggest crime is abject stupidity.

The primary driving force behind the problems in the Middle East is IRAN.

Until the regime changes in Iran and is replaced with something less hostile to the US, the West, and Israel, we'll keep having these problems.

The status quo merely benefits Iran and any hopes for peace, a 2-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians, or a non-nuclear Iran are nothing but fantasies.

Maybe someday, those people who live in the fantasy world of "international diplomacy" will accept this reality.

BobS

Nah: Reid's not lying. Fitz told Comey who told Schummer who told Reid

By

So, Richard son is friend of Plame's, often granted sovereign power like CIA operations officers and their informants. Richardson is bailing like everyone else, Plame is Hilly's good friend. Plame exercises sovereign power over informant doctors who turn for protection for producing WMD and are given immunity by the Iraqi courts. The Iraqis assassinate the judge and the operations officers involved with Plame are, in turn, assassinated. So, who gave Obama's informant father sovereign power from prosecution and does this go to his son? What is the logical progression beyond the person who gave Obama his birth in the US? Obama has done nothing wrong and is a victim and gets stuff like the presidency and billions. he's already used his sovereignty in foreign aid and is absolved for this by being elected. He can just save us from whats been done. We're saved by the absolution and have already paid for Obama and will pay again on his terms. The other sovereigns are back and being paid and he may only ask small things for the first four years.

I wonder if Hill whispered something in O's ear to get back at Gov. Bill, Clarice?
Then again, if he feels he should withdraw because of investigations into his politcal contributions...don't you think Hillary should be moving to South America or the Emirates due to what's going to come out about her political campaign $ shenanigans?
Jane, my prediction may come true quicker than I thought!
And has Hillary said anything re: Iraelie offensive in Gaza?
The cheerleaders in the media have to put away their pompoms, already. Life has that karma thingy that will bite you in the arse when you lie, coverup, or as in Obama's case, don't ask any pertinent experience questions....Ever wonder what the history books will write about him from birth, to say, 40 years old? Richardson will not be the last teardrop to fall!

Soylent Red

I wonder if Hill whispered something in O's ear to get back at Gov. Bill, Clarice?

My guess is that Billary whispered in someone else's ear, then said to Obama, after the announcement of Richardson's nomination, "Wha? You didn't know that already? We thought you knew..."

Double whammy retribution.

Jane, my prediction may come true quicker than I thought!

She probably instigated the war in Gaza so the Senate would feel it was necessary to rush her appointment thru without scrutiny.

BTW I don't know if I mentioned this, or if I thunk it up, or heard it here but my first prediction was a whole new generations of teen-age smokers due to the cool factor since O does it.

Randomly off-topic (hey, it's an open thread...) My daughter got really cute pajamas for Christmas, but they've left me a bit perplexed. The child is totally dog crazy, so her aunt bought her pj's with golden retriever puppies on them. The odd part is that the puppies are wearing earmuffs. Some pink, some blue. Perhaps it is the winter-themed background -- they need to keep their ears warm in the midst of the snowflakes...

Porter

If Mr. Fitzgerald has Senate Majority Leader Reid on tape, besides Rahm and others, the impeachment of Blagojevich must be executed with the least amount of due process as possible. Any and all evidence must be contained in the, yet to be seated, Grand Jury chambers. If any of the deal making leaks out in a court of law, the number of pols making the "everybody does it" defense will be breath taking.

Burris, through his bull-headed opportunism, has allowed Blagojevich to place the first blow on the coalition that is now the Democratic Party.

I would like everyone to keep in mind that this is very, very early in the investigation. If Sen. Reid has any insight as to its current state, his pillow gave them to him, because there is no way he knows what other lids are going to pop here in Illinois. I sure don't and I certainly didn't think he was involved, but I'm not surprised either. It's not like he's known for hyperbole, or anything.

(ed. note: What Richardson's accused of is amateur hour here in Illinois)

Patience people. This one's got legs, big "power you through to safety" type legs.

Mark Steyn

Is this a record? It's still two weeks to inauguration but the Planet Healer-elect is already being denounced on the streets of world capitals*! In this season of change, it's good to know some things never do. (*and, in this case, his boyhood home)
narciso

No, Soylent, they didn't suspect, they knew exactly about Sarah, probably within 24 hours. This is why the Axelrod/Winner machine had to concoct things out of whole cloth; the secessionist slur, the Buchanan slam, the slightly risque and more pictures,
Some like Sullivan, generated the Trig
Trutherism out of their mind's eye; maybe a reaction to a deeply repressed sentiment on his part. Ironically, this was before she declared in support of the gay marriage proposition; when her actual record had been more positive. She tore through the entire Alaskan establishment starting with Carney and Stein, moving across to Ruedrich,
bringing down Renkes, running across Anne Kilkenny & Lyda Green; challenging the
Murkowskis, and that Ron Paul like flake Halcro. Forcing out the Seven Sisters, (that description from Anthony Simpson always rings true) The only true insight about Eve Ensler's crazy Salon piece, is that too democrats, she would feel like a dominatrix; opinions vary whether they'd like it or not. So the mayor of Richmond is going to be the part time DNC chair, does he have administrative responsibility; I know he's the Governor, but that was the same tack they took on Sarah, so I return
the favor.

The whole anomie thing, was a play on JM's frustration with the Sarah flacking from your's truly, and the supporting cavalry; he insisted it wasn't animus, but annui (fatigue or exhaustion) I resorted to the next .25 word down the road, anomie, which is restlessness, although I admit I have some annui over the relentless propaganda
campaign, and most recently the relentlessly
dreary forecasts of the Obama future, from Rick and Amused, one part THX-1138, one part Anthem, one part 1984, Hence my comment.

I guess my writing style is an acquired taste, a mix of high culture, middle brow
and other references. I've always written for my self, except when I wrote papers or the occasional review piece. I never really
let anyone see it, and now only under a handle, which is probably too obvious for those who have mined the clues. I'm glad some like it, it's probably too elliptical for either American Thinker or Pajamas Media.

So why is it that O knows that Bill Richardson did nothing wrong, and knows that Blago did everything wrong?

He's the messiah. Which doesn't explain why he didn't know Richardson wasn't "forthcoming" in the vetting process.

Go figure all those negatives...

narciso

I admit I read a dog eared copy of Gravity's Rainbow, a long time ago; well most of it; than I had to look at one of those reference sites that explained where all the references were; I think I made some reference to Vineland not so long ago; that the was the book review by Salman Rushdie that was delayed by his unpleasant
circumstance; until than he had a virulent contempt for Thatcher, kind of like that he manifested for Sarah; now he probably has a grudging respect for the former and he may gain an understanding of the latter. So I guess I borrowed some of that denseness from him, and the earlier Dennis Miller. If I may ask Bad, what was the final clue, and
second, have you ever lived in South
Florida.
As you've probably guessed I live a fairly humdrum life, outside of this intellectual fishbowl, I put myself in. I am a very small fish, in a medium sized pond, moved to comment on the absurdity of it all; and "my friends" Kafka and Ionesco have nothing on this current slice of time. And it just gets more absurder every day, frankly every hour. If I make a typo, it's because I'm doing all this from memory, with precious few exceptions. I admit I'm showing off, then again I come across so much sacharine, treacly propaganda disguised as news, that I have to throw my unique spin on it.
I've tackled the likes of Yglesias, Drum, Douthat in the comments sections;supposedly the best of the left and center
blogosphere, and I've found them remarkably
uninformed and proud of it. What does that say about who signs their checks at the Atlantic and the Washington Monthly. Some like Drezner, who have no 'taken the Boeing'
I lost respect for, with his Brookesque adoration of the supposed sophistication of the Democratic platform, and his scathing
contempt of the Governor of Alaska. Some like Greg Djerian, son of the uber realist
Edward Djerian, have just simply gone beyond the pale. almost into the Sullivan zone of insanity. Maybe I should be glad hat I'm not employed in the professsional punditry biz, it does seem to breed bad habits. AS for our host, since I did read that he was once in finance, something like
a character from the Thomas Crown Affair; although whether it's McQueen or Brosnan is anybody's guess.

bad

AS for our host...

I've heard he is even hotter than Mark Steyn.

After nearly 28 years of consistent popularity, U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd saw his public approval ratings sag to below 50 percent in late 2008 after months of news disclosures about his cut-rate mortgages from banking giant Countrywide Financial and his long absence from duty while he was running for president earlier in the year. Now it’s decision time for Dodd on whether to launch a run for a sixth Senate term in the 2010 election. Dodd has denied wrongdoing, but still refuses to release documents related to his mortgages while the Senate conducts an ethics probe.

"So why is it that O knows that Bill Richardson did nothing wrong, and knows that Blago did everything wrong?"

The two Davids, Axelrod and Wilhelm, are the media masters when it comes to full bore smoke cover. The spin they generate is enough to erase the magnetic poles, seeing as how they both played for Mayor Daley. This stuff has their fingerprints ALL over it. Besides, when you KNOW how something is done, the amateur always sticks out like a sore thumb, Richardson, that is..

narciso

I know, I meant losing (sic) but the point is equally clear. The obvious parallels people rediscovering 'the divine right of kings,'
the rise of mercantilist trading arrangements,
bizarre prophets across the land, the specter of Islam encroaching on Europe and elsewhere, doesn't appeal to them.

The Obama transition team's top official and the White House Tuesday denounced media reports stating that President Bush, in a meeting with Mr. Obama Monday at the White House, had withheld support for a second stimulus and help for automakers until Democrats agree to approve a trade deal with Colombia.

"While the topic of Colombia came up, there was no quid pro quo in the conversation," said John Podesta, the former White House chief of staff under President Clinton who is overseeing the Obama transition.

Jane, be sure to remind Dick of this little quid pro quo "misunderstanding." It fits well with the "Richardson as a great patriot we're sorry to lose him" meme quickly followed by "Richardson lied to us or we'd never brought him on board."

narciso

It's terribly apt, it traffics in rumor, innuendo, yes after 20 years, it's debunked the more deranged of the Kennedy conspiracy theories, (the French Corsicans who Bugliosi discovered were conveniently in jail at the time of the plot, the deaf mute witness)and it gave a swift slap to 9/11 trutherism; the kind of thing, MarkJacobsen,
who did that drive by slam at Wasilla, like
a frozen Deliverance, and found truth in the
self justifying verbiage of a thug and
murderer like Frank Lucas, found some room for authenticity in. but that was a bit too little too late. It's obscurantism and divination dressed up as truth. It's a wonder if they really are that stupid or evil or both; it's a neck and neck competition.

I don't think the Davids had anything to do with the Burris appointment. Just doesn't smell right. Rod may be bright enough to pull that hat out of a rabbit, but if I were to guess, it was a Genson tip.

Each hit on the Preview button updates the comment state.

After I post, I use my back button on the browser to return to my previous view of the page (where I started typing in the comment box). I then hit refresh, and the scroll stays at it's previous location, which is where I left off reading.

The only problem from my point of view is that the preview pane is in the (default) small type rather than the 150% zoom I use.

LUN

cathyf

I'm not sure how you do things, Sara, but I keep all of the JOM threads in the same Back-Forward queue, and use refresh to manage where I left off.

So, I am here, and glenda's 11:44 post happens to be the last one right now. I'll hit preview a couple of times, then post. After I hit post, it will load the page with an explicit anchor including the comment number for my new post. But if I use the back button to go back to this page, which doesn't have the comment number, I will be right at the point where the "Post a comment" is at the top of the page and glenda's comment is right above scrolled off the top. So I hit "refresh" at that point, and my cursor stays in exactly the same place, my comment and any intervening comments are right there, and I can scroll down to read the new stuff.

If I want to comment on a post which is not the last one, I open a new tab. When I forget, the preview and new post end up replacing the other threads in the Back-Forward queue, which leaves me scrambling to restore their state. (And usually muttering a few choice words...)

This allows me to keep my place in all of the JOM comment threads at once. Firefox is cool in that if you quit (or crash) the program, it restores each member of each Forward-Back queue on each tab to the state it had upon crash -- so if I hadn't hit "refresh" for a couple of days because I wasn't reading it, I can go to the thread, go to the end (it will be where I left off), hit refresh, and read.

I'm not sure how other people use their browsers to manage JOM which sometimes has multiple active comment threads -- but that's what I do. Perhaps other people have better ways to deal with it?
