Yesterday I read that Israel has published a price list which details what the response will be for each new act of Hamas aggression.
In Europe they are continuing to blame the Israelis, even to the point of a court order in Germany permitting Hamas flags to fly but confiscating any Israeli flags on display. (Elsewhere in the UK and Europe, Israeli flags have been banned from pro Hamas demos but only by police order and by warning or arresting pro-Israeli demonstrators.
Europe is gone. Finished. It committed suicide by multiculturalism.

An email buddy of mine from Berlin has told me that the left in Germany is generally less anti-Israel than elsewhere in Europe and that an underlying reason for that is most of the immigrants from the Middle East are Turks, who are much more Western oriented than your standard nutjobs from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan or Egypt. Have I been misled?
My German friend here like the English couple who are down the hall say that's not true. That everyone in Germany and the UK are afraid to attack headon the left Islamist coalition.

We look at Hamas and try to rationalize them. It's quite simple. They are cold blooded murderers under the flag of a political movement meekly tolerated by those under its boot and lionized by the delusional.
The former Israeli General is right--their tactics are rational, and they are modestly skilled killers. The Israelis are much better. It's unfortunate that Israel's political leadership lacks the will to finish the job. Necessity dictates that Hamas must be destroyed. History will dress the deed in what ever garments it will, but Israelis will live, and the surviving Gazans will have a chance at peace.
What else can be hoped for? Moral philosophy is irrelevant whne there is a gun in your ear.
Oh crap. I do not know why my screen name keeps reverting back to Quasiblogger which I have never used outside of commenting as the proprietor of said blog months ago. What's bizarre is that in preview mode, I show up correctly as JM Hanes. When I fill out the name/address/url lines all over again, it will occasionally use JM Hanes for awhile, and then suddenly revert again.
I'm embarrassed to ask, but is there a Mac geek in the house who can tell me what I need to expunge, and where? I'm using Safari 3.0.4 which seems to be as high is my laptop OS can go. Outside of JOM, I have always tried not to associate Q'blog with my given name, and I'd really rather not have that switcheroo occuring in the middle of a dialogue elsewhere.
My German friend said the judge was just blindly following local post war law which makes it an offense to interfere with a lawful, permitted demonstration.
Still, I await permitted demonstrations in Europe with marchers flying Danish . US and Israeli flags...and then I want to see what happens to those trying to break up the demonstrations by, inter alia, waving Hamas flags along the route.
What is strange about the Quasi thing is that you have probably used other names more recently such as our Jane pseudonyms and the Joe the Plumber solidarity.
I would suggest switching to Firefox. It works great on Mac. I wish I could comment on Safari but I haven't used it in a while.
Caro, I've got Firefox, but unfortunately the only no-fills browser style that would work with the newest version, has tabs that end up being almost too dark to read. Sigh.
JMH, you could go to the Menu, under Safari, click Preferences.
Then, under the Security Tab, click Show cookies.
Then put typepad in the search window in the upper right. That should bring up the three .typepad.com entries for typepadurl, typepadauthor, and typepademail.
I didn't try it, but I would think that deleting them would allow you to start over. Or, just change the author to what you want.
His intentions were good, which is what really matters.
I'm not a fan of BHO, but I don't see this bashing of his brother in law fair or even accurate.
He started coaching Oregon State this year, he did not have an 0-18 record last year with the team. I should also note that the record for OSU's season was 6-24, the 0-18 was for Pac 10 play.
This year their record is 8-10 so far, and they've won their first Pac 10 game in 2 years. From everything I've read, it appears that Coach Robinson believes in 'conservative' principles in his coaching. He has 5 am practices and gets the athletes to commit to the team principle. Whether he'll be successful in the long run is unknown. However, I think commenters are way off base with their criticisms of the Coach during his first year.

If you're going to complain about inaccuracies, at least get their 6-10 record correct. They may be improved over their dismal record last year but they're still mired next to the bottom of the Pac 10 ahead of only Oregon. Esquire was just writing a puff piece on him anyway, of interest only to knobs who need the last bit of Oblammo minutiae.
The preview hint that has been working beautifully all weekend has stopped working entirely. When I hit the button I get the comment box and nothing else.
The trouble now is that the insanity didn’t end with sub-primes. There were two other kinds of exotic mortgages that became popular, called "Alt-A" and "option ARM." The option ARMs, in particular, lured borrowers in with low initial interest rates - so-called teaser rates - sometimes as low as one percent. But after two, three or five years those rates "reset." They went up. And so did the monthly payment. A mortgage of $800 dollars a month could easily jump to $1,500.
...
"Well, the sub-prime is, was approaching $1 trillion, the Alt-A is about $1 trillion. And then you have option ARMs on top of that. That’s probably another $500 billion to $600 billion on top of that," Tilson says.
So after the $1 trillion sub-prime wave of defaults comes the $1.6 trillion wave of "Alt-A" and "option ARM" defaults.
No wonder there is no 9/11-type commission investigating this economic "Pearl Harbor"
I posted this on the Monday Open thread as well (with multiple typos, alas).
Someone a while ago gave the following tip (of course I can't look it up to give proper credit!!!!):
After you hit next once, in the url where it gives the page number, put in a number like 100 and it will take you to the last page in the thread. It seems to work.
You are a god and I want to be first in line to sign up for your cult!
After locating the typepadurl etc. cookies, from the typepad search box, I also noticed another 3 profile.typepad cookies, and deleted them as well. I made a come back on the recipe thread, and I'm crossing my fingers that the fix is portable. We'll know soon enough, although I'm having to muster up some courage to hit Post.
"There were two other kinds of exotic mortgages that became popular, called "Alt-A" and 'option ARM.' The option ARMs, in particular, lured borrowers in with low initial interest rates - so-called teaser rates - sometimes as low as one percent."
I myself have an option ARM. I read all the loan documents, which spelled out exactly how and when the payments would change (unless I opted to refinance, which I can do without penalty before any increase occurs), and I willingly entered into the agreement. I got what I bargained for. Anyone who enters into a mortgage agreement without fully understanding all of the terms and conditions gets no sympathy at all from me.
"Lured" seems like a rather loaded term for something I wanted and actively sought.
Yes! When contemplating the simultaneous loss of the Preview workaround, I'd like to remind everyone that correlation is not causatiion!
If tomorrow weren't Coronation Day, I'd suggest that perhaps observing radio silence for a few days on the comment front might attract Dear Leader's attention, but that seems a lot like cutting/spiting, doesn't it?
JMH: You are a god and I want to be first in line to sign up for your cult!
Heh! I chuckled and my wife, sitting next to me, asked why. I read her your response and she said, "Hey! I'm already attached to that cult leader!" So, I am happily resigned to to have almost had someone sign up for my cult. ;-)
having been coached by one of the greats one summer long ago, I hold to my opinion of Obama's brother's coaching style. Demeaning most athletes does not work, as it does not work with most human beings. It's nasty and shows insecurity. Firm and fair and make em run baselines till they puke.
Yes, MayBee. Try Elliott's trick, posted above by C.R.:

I noticed Spike Lee said this is the greatest moment in American history. Greater than July 4, 1776, I imagine he meant. Well, that's ridiculous if you're talking about America itself, but it probably is the greatest moment anyone has ever had besides Barack Obama.
Interesting argument that Hitchens put forward for the 'torture epidemic' at the New York Magazine, linked by Robert McCain; it really was an expression of what the American people were feeling at the time, not the sole province of Rumsfeld, or Wolfowitz, et al. You kind of feel sorry for Hitchens, he turned to Obama in order to avoid the corruption of the Clintons and he ends with Hillary at Foggy Bottom., Scratch that, I don't feel sorry at him at all, he turned his nose at the only ticket, that might have remotely confronted the islamofascists, mostly because he found the running mate too sectarian' "Ghost of a Flea' is having no small amount of fun, tormenting him over that; so he gets to live with the consequences of his decision.
Some people never learn, Rushdie is back to his old games, tweaking the Ayatollah, rubbishing W. does he realize that the Iranian president was exactly the type who would have overseen his liquidation; and if there's another fatwa, don't count on support in the US or Britain. No one of any consequence is going to stick their head out for you this time,
That is a creepy picture of McCain. He looks like he is a creature from the black lagoon. There is nothing worse than creepy old guys with sharpened nails. Glad we can't see his toes!
Extraneus: It will all be over soon. Reality may not hit the Obama-ites, but it surely will hit Obama. This is a man who is in way over his head and I suspect he knows it.
Thanks, Ann. I've sent my SOS to TM. Thanks all of you for hanging in there. I depend on you to keep me sane. Most of my friends are in lala land: not exactly happy with the way of the world, but shrugging their shoulders, as if it is not their problem. Obviously, I'm the one with the problem. You, each of you, are my outlet for my angst. Thank you for your active engagement with what is going on.
7) Now, click and hold the browser back button. It will bring up the whole queue of pages. The page one back will be your post. If you did one or more previews, then the preview views will be before that. The entry on that back menu before any previews is the page you were reading, with your comment in the comment box, in the state it was in before you hit "Preview".
8) OK, roll down the browser back button's list until you get back to that page you started your comment on. If you look in the url box, it will end with "page/a number/#comments"
9) The last comment that you read before starting your comment is right there above the comment box. So at this point you hit "Refresh" on your browser.
10) If you are using firefox, safari or opera (no guarantee with IE -- it's generally a crappy browser), then when you finish the Refresh your cursor will be left right there at the last posting you read before you started writing your comment, so you can resume reading. When you come to the end of the page, hit "Next" keep reading.
11) This is really good if it is a fast-moving thread -- you can be reading at the end of page 10, make some long, thoughtful comment, and by the time you finish posting your post ends up on page 12. You are scratching your head, scrolling up and down, hitting "Previous" and thinking "where the !^$%* was I?" Well, if you use your browser's back button, it can show you exactly where you were.
Looks like that Sun article on the ALQIM dying of plague was a little off... Seems there was a breach at their lab and they had to seal it off and abandon the base...
They screwed up the recipe on their special inauguration cake. That or it looked so good they decided to try just a little piece before they frosted it.
S'OK - Barry Barack Hussein Dunham Davis? Soetero Obama? will straighten them all out, first thing tomorrow afternoon.
Cue the progs....even though Iraq never had WMDs, it'll be Bush's fault that Iraq's WMDs found their way into AQ's camps.
Unfortunately, if we capture anyone with knowledge about this and they won't talk, there's nothing we can do about it, can we? We might be curious about AQ's weapons program but we can't make them stand in the cold, or watch some soft pron or stop them from getting plenty of rest to get the answers. That would be wrong.
This year their record is 8-10
If you're going to complain about inaccuracies, at least get their 6-10 record correct. They may be improved over their dismal record last year but they're still mired next to the bottom of the Pac 10 ahead of only Oregon.
Actually, they are 8-10. While they’re not Division I schools, they beat St Martins and Concordia before their first game with Howard. Granted beating a Division 2 and an NAIA team is not a big deal, but I am accurate.
Again whether or not Robinson is a good coach is still unknown. A lot of great coaches have started very poorly. Look at Jimmy Johnson’s first year in Dallas or Chuck Noll is Pittsburgh.
The question in my mind is whether it was a "field test" by AQ to determine actual lethality. They've been known to make 'martyrs' out of followers who didn't actually understand all the fine print that the nice mullah fellow sped through while swearing them in. Accident or test, they sure as hell know it's lethal now.
I posted some Typepad info on Page 8 of the MLK thread at 11:46 pm -- I'd have linked to the post itself, but that just drops you at the opening page now. Typepad has apparently instituted a new 50 comment/page limit, with a 25 comment default. We should all be complaining directly to Typepad. I posted more in the MLK thread, but here's a link to Tyepad/SixApart's Contact Form.

Unfortunately, they stopped short of the sea.

JMH, I loved your snark yesterday. Thanks.
What is strange about the Quasi thing is that you have probably used other names more recently such as our Jane pseudonyms and the Joe the Plumber solidarity.
I would suggest switching to Firefox. It works great on Mac. I wish I could comment on Safari but I haven't used it in a while.
Posted by: caro | January 19, 2009 at 04:13 PM
More tests, more apologies.
Caro, I've got Firefox, but unfortunately the only no-fills browser style that would work with the newest version, has tabs that end up being almost too dark to read. Sigh.

Posted by: Elliott | January 19, 2009 at 04:53 PM
JMH, you could go to the Menu, under Safari, click Preferences.
Then, under the Security Tab, click Show cookies.
Then put typepad in the search window in the upper right. That should bring up the three .typepad.com entries for typepadurl, typepadauthor, and typepademail.
I didn't try it, but I would think that deleting them would allow you to start over. Or, just change the author to what you want.

coach of an 0-18 team
But, but...

Example: http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2009/01/monday-morning/comments/page/100/#comments
And Boris, you are correct. All the ads are in place.

Posted by: belle | January 19, 2009 at 11:06 PM
Ok, folks, here's how I've been reading the thread:
1) Open a new window, and put in http://justoneminute.typepad.com in the url.
2) Go to the Recent Posts on the right, and right-click on a thread. When the menu comes up, click on "open in new tab".
3) When it comes up, go to the tab, hit "end" to go the to bottom, and hit the "Next" link. Repeat until you get to the end.
4) Notice the url changing. This thread: http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2009/01/the-gaza-war/comments/page/4/#comments -- notice that the end is page/a number/#comments.
5) Ok, when you find your place on the thread, you are now good to go.
-- If you hit "refresh" on the page, your cursor will stay in the same place, and just the new posts will get added.
-- When you get to the bottom of a page, hit "Next" and it takes you to the next page.
-- Your browser Back button now has all the pages in the thread lined up in order from first to last.
6) UNTIL YOU POST. Ok, what happens when you post is that your url will change to something with the comment number of your comment embedded in it rather than the page number -- eg: http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2009/01/saturday-mornin.html?cid=145564222#comment-145564222 YOU DON'T WANT THIS
7) Now, click and hold the browser back button.

Stephanie,
The question in my mind is whether it was a "field test" by AQ to determine actual lethality. They've been known to make 'martyrs' out of followers who didn't actually understand all the fine print that the nice mullah fellow sped through while swearing them in. Accident or test, they sure as hell know it's lethal now.

TM may not actually be able to fix this.
