"There is no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you" - Will Rogers said it but Mark Steyn is living it, and he has several governments providing him with material. A snippet:
The
[British] Home Secretary is best known for an inspired change of terminology:
Last year she announced that henceforth Muslim terrorism (an unhelpful
phrase) would be reclassified as “anti-Islamic activity.” Seriously.
The logic being that Muslims blowing stuff up tends not to do much for
Islam’s reputation — i.e., it’s an “anti-Islamic activity” in the same
sense that Pearl Harbor was an anti-Japanese activity.
I wish he were kidding.
See Donald Luskin for some 'Anti-American' activity. His article is 'The Beginning of the End of Investing, at RCP AKA 'This Nation is being Rescued to Death.

Mark Steyn and Donald Luskin help us keep our sanity.

I had a blog post on that too, mostly based on excerpts from Henry Bellew's commentaries
on the Yousafsai of Buner and Swat,

IBD's editorial, also available through RealClearPolitics, is comprehensive in its account of Obama's devastating month-long train wreck.

Do any of you at this very thoughtful comment blog think that the US will become, under Obama, like the UK and Europe as to Islam?
Posted by: bolitha | February 22, 2009 at 09:47 AM
This was the post I referenced, mostly from Bellew's excerpted in Allen's God's Terrorists
Posted by: narciso | February 22, 2009 at 09:53 AM
Yes, bolitha. However, our economic underclass is practically co-religious with us and speaks a closely related language.

Bolitha, worse.
Posted by: Pagar | February 22, 2009 at 10:15 AM
Kim, does that mean that you think the people who are benefiting from the bailout-- ie people who do not pay taxes-- are religious as in Christian and will NOT accept the PC assimilation of Islam?
Posted by: bolitha | February 22, 2009 at 10:36 AM
Why does the blog link only apply to the first item, ie; Steyn and the Sultans, am I going to have to go on the evil Type Pad after all

Isn't it wonderful when lefties get hoist by their own petard of political correctness? Their mental convolutions become more bizarre by the day.

Has anyone noticed the Ad in the left margin to the Muslim Matrimonial site?
First question a Muslim gal ought to ask a Muslim guy - "have you ever beheaded or wanted to behead your girlfriend, fiancee, wife?"
Posted by: centralcal | February 22, 2009 at 11:26 AM
I don't think so, Bolitha. Muslims are a very small minority in this country, and there is not a great deal of Muslim immigration. But I expect things will become depressingly European in many other respects.
Posted by: Danube of Thought | February 22, 2009 at 11:26 AM
well, as soon as I post, the ad changes to Obama.
Posted by: centralcal | February 22, 2009 at 11:27 AM
Telling Muslims that the British government is the arbiter of what their religion does and does not teach will surely please them no end.

Bolitha, DoT makes my point better; I should have said our 'immigrant economic underclass'. In other words, I think we are somewhat less susceptible than Europe. However, with this untalented demagogic executive, all bets are off. What his administration and an enslaved press can do is unpredictable.

Somewhere--can't find it now--I read that Zero had signed an EO saying a bunch of Lebanese could come here.
Now I know that not all of those folks are Muslim--some may be Christians--but still.......
Posted by: glasater | February 22, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Well, Kim and DOT I think that Sharia Law and making exceptions for Muslims is "slowly creeping up" in the US. Minnesota lets cab drivers at the airport refuse to carry passengers who have alcohol (or has that been revoked?) and NOW is treating the beheading of a Muslim wife as a crime of domestic violence and the MSM is NOT reporting at all.
Posted by: bolitha | February 22, 2009 at 12:56 PM
Sans doute, vigilance against the encroachment of alien law is necessary. How to balance that against the allowance of acceptance of an alien culture which is a fundamental right of a free community. Let's hope we can find the wisdom to see the path clearly.

I should point out that the Home Secretary has investigated the allegations of expenses fraud against J Smith and concluded that her conduct was 'all above board'.
So that's alright then.
Posted by: Kevin B | February 22, 2009 at 01:18 PM
Narciso.
The pound has tanked against a basket of currencies, but at one time that was real money.Take into consideration that,as Home Secretary Smith could have had free accommodation at a grace and favour flat just round the corner from her office. But they are all at it Tessa Jowell's "estranged " husband just got sentenced to four years for corruption in Italy!
It is like the fall of the Roman Empire in Europe, the great and good looting the treasury whilst the barbarians are at the gates.
Posted by: PeterUK | February 22, 2009 at 01:22 PM
I was making a small joke, Peter, the pound is almost invariably ahead of the pound, and
making a comparison between Madame Secretary
and you know who.

Narciso,
"I was making a small joke, Peter, the pound is almost invariably ahead of the pound, "
Things are so bad now the pound is behind the pound.

Bolitha, one of the few that seem to try to make Americans aware of just how much they are surrendering to the "small minority" is Debbie Schlussel. She explains it on a daily basis at www.debbieschlussel.com
She also explains about the Americans who for one reason or another have decided to aid them. You can find this report and others at her web site today.
Federal Judge Who Freed Qaeda Terrorists, Is Witness @ Federal Trial, Makes Another Improper Move
The lilliputian Judge Rosen's behavior, during the initial terrorism trial and its aftermath, was such an outrage that some of it may have constituted federal crimes, including the Privacy Act, which prevents the disclosure of private information. Rosen now has an attorney and is trying to avoid being deposed and required to testify in federal court for Convertino's lawsuit. You have to scratch your head when a sitting Federal Judge--now the Presiding Judge of U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan--has an attorney and may be guilty of committing federal crimes.
One other thing about Judge Rosen that I reported previously. He covered up that two criminal defense attorneys representing the Al-Qaeda terrorists in his courtroom stole stationery of another federal judge and impersonated him on his stationery to third parties. And it's not the first time he's done this. As I also reported:
Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (former Michigan Attorney General), when she was Assistant U.S. Attorney, stole official stationery of terror trial Judge Gerald Rosen, forging his signature on a letter.
I strongly suspect, that there will come a day when Americans are unable to do anything about the problems Ms Schlussel posts about every day. Just like today, we have Americans saying they wish they could change their Nov 2008 vote.
Today, it is still possible to prevent the erosion of our freedoms that are under attack. Someday it may no longer be possible.

Luskin's article was on RealClearPolitics for Sunday.

"Anti-Islamic activities"? Hoy criminy. Sure, the bombing was bad what with the bodies and blood and all, but the real problem here is the damage done to Islam's image.
If I may crib from Wordsworth:
