The NY Times was disappointed with Tom. BTW, who in the Administration is vetting these folk? Wasn't the NY Times and everyone else going on endlessly about the poor McCain vetting process? Tony Rezko is starting to look clean. I hear that Kwame Kilpatrick just got out of jail and is looking for a job. How about HHS!

Sue

Poor Joe the Plumber was vetted better than Obama's cabinet picks.

Old Lurker

Gee where do I sign up for this opportunity?

"The editor of The New York Times has hinted that the newspaper might charge again for access to some of its online offerings, less than two years after abandoning fees to boost advertising revenue."

Danube of Thought

So much for Andrea Mitchell's announcement that the American people would blame the GOP for bringing Daschle down. I'm really disappointed in Andrea...

MikeS

Barack seems to be squandering his political capital by trying to get some of his, less than honest, friends appointed to his cabinet.
In fairness, he really doesn't know that many honest people, so it's not surprising that he would 'cling' to those he does know.

kim

A Pinch delusion of grandeur just rose from its silo and went ballistic.

Maybe this is all just a Byzantine method by Obama to pass Steve Forbes' flat tax. That would be hope and change!

clarice

DoT, Do you suppose Andrea and Larry King are really dead and have been for years, that botox injections have made it possible for them to pass as only almost dead?

Sue

45 senators voted to keep 246 million for Hollywood in the stimulus package. ::eyeroll::

Maybe NYT is secretly being run into the ground by the GOP, and only Andrea knows that.

Daddy

I think that Mad Magazine and the New York Times should merge and become The Mad New York Times. Both are suffering massive cutbacks and seeking novel ways to stay afloat. Both have become hard left and unfunny. And both provide the same quality of innanaity and nuttiness in their general editorial quackery. Seriously now folks, is there anything that Maureen Dowd has written in the last decade that wouldn't seem more at home in Mad magazine than gracing the New York Times? And now they want to put her and Rich and Krugman behind a firewall again so we have to pay to read 'em. See, they're already Mad, so why not make it official.

jean

NYT seems to be able to get Dems to resign. That isn't much help to the folks they like best.

MarkO

Poor, poor Andrea. She’s a perjurer without portfolio. And, she’s married to an idiot.

bad

Hey MarkO!! Missed ya...

Neo

It's pretty obvious by now that Obama, who was vetted about as well as a teenager checking out a hooker, just doesn't have anybody on staff who can vet a poodle.

JB

Interesting. Daschle was the Washington insider who hooked up B.O. with the Washington elite and other elite circles when B.O. was getting ready for his run 2 years ago. His reward was to have a place in Washington. He should have straightened out the tax problem, then, 2 years ago. I am happy he did not though. I remember his deer-in-the-headlights look the night he and Lott commented about Washington unity immediately following Bush's address to Congress and the nation in his first post 9/11 talk. What a weak man Daschle is -- weak in character. (As well, I remember Hillary's sneer during Bush's speech as well.)

$146,000 down the drain...Will he list is as a business loss for 2009?

bad

TM, I continue to be tempted to click on END TIMES just to see if the seven horsemen of the appocalypse appear.

So far I'm too chicken...

I read the New York Times,
Amazing anyone would admit to that anymore, but I guess if one has reached the point of an emotional phone call with NBC's Andrea Mitchell "shame" is a distant memory.

Daddy

Well its not from the NYTimes but my MSN Homepage is headlining a Reuters Story from New York (www.reuters.com/article/scienceNews/iduSTRE51301R20090204?feedType)
The headline;

"Zoo's Lack Funds To Inspire Obama's Future Scientists".

And all this time I thought my kids belonged to me, or at least to America. Well, better get my wife and her sewing kit out. The jacket for my duaghter in Future Farmers of America shouldn't be too hard to turn into Future Farmers of Obama, but that Girl Scouts of America thingy is going to be a hell of a lot of work, especially with all them Merit Badges to dick with.

It isn't that they aren't being vetted. It's that Obama's people have assumed if something was ok with them, it would be ok with the American people, too.

bad

Maybee, it is really disturbing that O and his team didn't get it. That Americans would have a problem with such lack of integrity. Then again, perhaps cheating is not perceived by this crew as a character or integrity issue.

Ralph L

bad, it's Four Horsemen of the A. You're thinking of the Seventh Seal (it's too bad killer whales got the other six).

bad

Thanks Ralph L, my Bible study teacher would hang his head in shame over that one. We studied Revelations within the last five years.

Folks -- posting the links to "end of thread" which end with "?cid=x" renders the JOM comments effectively invisible to search engines. Unless we decide this is a feature, we should probably stop doing it.
