Much of the third world works hard, physically, from dawn to dusk for barely enough to live on, and Obama's getting us there rapidemente.

Okay, that is undoubtedly the dumbest idea I have ever heard. I started reading the article and thought it was a purposeful joke, but noooo, he's apparently serious.
What the hell, let's move it six hours. Then we can all get up at noon and have dinner at 10PM like they do in Spain.
The Guardian in the UK is reporting that Obama wants to normalize relations with Cuba in April. I think that is the last straw, really. There goes Florida, politically.
As to that scumbag Kennedy, his family did more to support the IRA than almost anyone else. I guess the Brits have forgotten this. Papa Joe willfully misreported events in England when ambassador to the UK because of his hatred of the English.
In Seattle on November 1, there are only about 10 hours of daylight (down to about 9 hours around the winter solstice) .
If you're an 8 hour per night sleeper, that leaves you with 6 (to 7) hours of darkness while you're awake, no matter what.
In summer, it makes sense (though I doubt it saves energy) to move sunrise/sunset from 4:00 AM/8:00 PM to 5:00 AM/9:00 PM. Since most people are asleep from 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM, but not from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. So, in a sense, you DO save daylight in the summer, by moving it to a more useful time for most people.
But you can't pull the same trick off much beyond (or prior to) the equinox.

Yeah, I'm thinking this has something to do with why Kennedy gets some credit now for contributing to the peace. Not funding (or winking at funding from other Americans) the IRA is akin to brokering a peace deal, no?
In much the same way that if Al Capone had stopped funding his henchmen it would have brought peace to Chicago.
Bad, I can't find any mention of a visit this week or last. In fact, the phrase "Obama visited my church" generates precisely 8 hits, all from the campaign trail. (Well, that's not too specific - the pre-election campaign trail.) "Obama came to my church", 3 results, all about a dream somebody had. "Obama at my church", campaign trail.
"Obama worshiped (or 'worshipped') with", 19 results for the two variants, including the WaPo celebrating Obama's generic ecumenicalism, 2 blogs quoting the WaPo, and 16 criticisms of Jeremiah Wright.
"Obama attended services at" + "church" gets notices from the campaign trail 2006-08, criticism of Wright, and mention of a childhood mosque.
There's not a soul in Washington who has shared a worship service with the President and thinks it's a noteworthy event. On the other hand, searches using "Bush" instead of "Obama" also turn up very little.

When my son went to bed last night, he said he wished we'd move the clock back 23 hours rather than ahead 1.

I'm glad my kids are older now that the demon spawn, Spring Forward, is unleashed weeks earlier.
When they were younger they saw DST as the real end of school despite the realities of the school calender.
My body hates DST.
OTOH, my body sucks.
Maybe there's a lesson there....

Teddy just earmarked $200M for the Edward R Kennedy (Chappaquiddick) wing of the Jack Kennedy library.

Exquisite timing for Teddy and his UK supporters.
The knighthood thing last week, the profile in courage thing next week and the IRA back to it's usual dirty business this week,
(Incidently, I commented on another blog last week that a knighthood these days is a meaningful as the Nobel Peace Prize.)

Does anyone know where the Obamas went to church today?
Posted by: bad | March 08, 2009 at 03:26 PM
Yeah, think Armitage, Sir Richard the Lyin' Hearted.
