Additional fun is had in the title of one of her more recent posts (up above the marriage one). She accurately quotes from Andrew Sullivan's new Times on Line article, "There's A Case For Feeling Obama Is Floundering." Not worth reading unless you want to see Andrew conclude it's actually too early to trust the feeling that Obama is floundering, but you do get to see him work the word jejune in there, probably to dispel any readers feeling that Andrew Sullivan himself is floundering.
Of course, if she were sharing her own experience, she could have done so in a witty or indirect way, perhaps quoting Dr. Johnson on the "triumph or hope over experience." Even without knowing that it was a Dr. Johnson quote, one would have to consider that given current history, the triumph of Hope'n'Change over experience is not such a good thing...
Maxine has always had an edge to her commentary. Sometimes it seems tongue in cheek. This time it doesn't. She ain't making much headway with the rest of us, though.
Ann has always seemed to appreciate men's commentary and company. Maxine -- not so much.
In any event, look at her postings of the whole Cincinnati trip. It is a lovely memoir of an engagement. You could see how much she was enjoying herself through her photographs.
She is one of the special people on the web. I wish her all the best.
TM, this is dangerous work that you do.

Boy, Maxine in the comments over there is a wet blanket.

She (Maxine) certainly is, PD! I couldn't believe that she said that not once but twice. One wonders what inspired that!

Isn't she though? You'd think Meade ditched her or something.

Perhaps she is sharing her own experience...

Absolutely, Kurt. But she may be a bitter clinger to her pain....

I couldn't marry a woman whose favorite movies I've never heard of much less seen.
Posted by: polynikes | March 23, 2009 at 04:14 PM
Do you mean Althouse's movie choices? Yeah, there are some obscure ones there. I've only seen three of them, but I have liked those three.

Since I'm in a very good second marriage I'm certainly in Ann's corner. Go for it! Even if it doesn't work, at least you've tried.
As for Maxine, she's not exactly a troll, but she certainly can be unpleasant for what appears to be not much reason but to get attention.

Maxine sounds like a manhater. I think she feels jilted by Ann not Meade.

Maxine is a twit. I've been reading Althouse for a couple of years, and her comments border on the insane. Stream of unconsciousness, so to speak.
