The Times takes us back in time:
In late 2007, there was the first crack of daylight into the government’s use of waterboarding during interrogations of Al Qaeda detainees. On Dec. 10, John Kiriakou, a former C.I.A. officer who had participated in the capture of the suspected terrorist Abu Zubaydah in Pakistan in 2002, appeared on ABC News to say that while he considered waterboarding a form of torture, the technique worked and yielded results very quickly.
Mr. Zubaydah started to cooperate after being waterboarded for “probably 30, 35 seconds,” Mr. Kiriakou told the ABC reporter Brian Ross. “From that day on he answered every question.”
Well, Mr. Kirakou had left the scene and was relying on internal reports, so he may have made his statements in good faith. But here is the puzzler:
Huh? There are some staffers available to the minority but the bulk of the hiring is controlled by the majority party. Either the Democrats hired this guy or agreed to work with him, which is interesting either way.
A call to the Committee would answer whether he works for the majority or minority counsel. In case anyone wants to follow up on this tantalizing bit of news.
(I have to run for a while.)

Specter switching parties today...
Yeah I heard that too.
Good. It's about time. Only wish he had been honest enough to do it 8 years ago.
And I hope the gals in Maine follow suit.

And another thing, now they'll have to pass their 4.2 trill without a single Repub. vote.

without a single Repub. vote
verner, do you think the Maine twins will vote no?

They're not republicans. I would imagine that since Maine has gone true blue, they will follow suit very quickly.
Now let's see the resulting cat fights in the dem party. They own it,they can answer for it.
