There is no way we are ever seeing that transcript which I guarantee you is worse than Kerry's or former President Bush's.Obama was too high omn cocaine to make it to class...

Dorothy Jane

Oh! I like this suggestion. Maybe there are also some pictures of him smoking hand rolled ... cigarettes as well... or placing a mirror on a coffee table...

lurking

A lot of people think his Occidental College records show him to be a foreign student. Show me, Big Boy.

Or let a leaker show us when you are down and out.

MayBee

A lot of people think his Occidental College records show him to be a foreign student. Show me, Big Boy.

I wonder. I wonder if he got a scholarship for Punahou for the same reason. Unless his grandma knew someone at the bank, I've never heard how he ended up there on scholarship.

PeterUK

The probability is that Barrack Hussein Obama is a construct like Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan. Most likely his real name is Barry Dunham and it is plastered all over the record.

Thomas Collins

How was the trip to the woods, TM? Get your fill of nature today?

My nature venture today was a trip to the town dump (actually, it is no longer a dump; it is now I guess what one would call a transfer station). Getting my dose of vitamin D from the sun while hauling trash; that's the life!

Forgive me for continuing to wander off topic, but do any Louisiana affiliated JOMers have a suggestion for apartments or house rentals in the Shreveport area for a male in his early twenties (not me; my early twenties happened long ago and far away).

bad

No cheap shot TM. Just a call for transparency and accountability.

bad

TC, did your son take the job there? I hope he has a fabulous experience.

pagar

O/T but pertinent to those of us that need good news from the political field. An article by Clarice Feldman at American Thinker details the win that Stefan Sharkansky scored in his fight to prove that the 2004 King County election records in the Washington State were as crooked as a dog's hind leg. Of course, the bad news--the King County Official in charge at the time, is headed to an Obama administration job where he can really do much more serious damage to America. Can anyone imagine the damage one could do at HUD by running it the way King County elections are run?

Thomas Collins

Yes, bad. He's now officially a Louisiana Teaching Fellow. He starts training June 1st. He is very fortunate. I think the Louisiana program is a solid program. It's not an easy gig, and of course an idealistic college student really has no idea how he or she will react to the responsibility of teaching. But this is what he clearly wanted to do, and I'm happy for him.

Foo Bar

Unless his grandma knew someone at the bank, I've never heard how he ended up there on scholarship.

Here is an excerpt from "Dreams from My Father" in which he describes one of the reasons he got in:

Started by missionaries in 1841, Punahou had grown into a prestigious prep school, an incubator for island elites. Its reputation had helped sway my mother in her decision to send me back to the States: It hadn’t been easy to get me in, my grandparents told her; there was a long waiting list, and I was considered only because of the intervention of Gramps’s boss, who was an alumnus (my first experience with affirmative action, it seems, had little to do with race).

As for why he got a scholarship specifically, I think there are many more plausible possibilities:

(1) It was a need-based scholarship (i.e., his family was not deemed capable of paying full tuition)

(2) It was based on academic merit

(3) It was (implicitly or explicitly) awarded out of a motivation to increase the representation of an underrepresented ethnic minority at the school.

Surely these are more likely theories than the notion that he got some sort of "foreign student" scholarship...

pagar

TC, My impressions of Sheveport were formed during my AF tours 40 years ago, but I remember it as one of the best towns for just plain good living. Congratulations to your son, I think he'll enjoy it.

MAS1916

Or... He could release his birth certificate? The real one?

Thomas Collins

Thanks, pagar. Now I'm going to have to find out which sports teams folks in the Shreveport area follow and start following them.

lurking

Foo Bar, there is no need for us to speculate; he could show us. Surely someday someone will. It's absurd for him to think he can throw such an invisibility cloak over his past.

pagar

(1)increase the representation of an underrepresented ethnic minority at the school.

Which ethnic minority would that be?

(2)Surely these are more likely theories than the notion that he got some sort of "foreign student" scholarship...

Why?

Danube of Thought

What I would dearly love to see is his transcript from the Harvard Law School.

PeterUK

4)The same nepotism that got Obama in, got him the scholarship.

verner

Hey Tom, he needs to be facebook friends with my daughter, she's at LSU in Baton Rouge, and she has friends from s-port.

matt

Punahou was very big on legacy students. Admission is to a great extent based on who you know. One of the real issues with a serious education in Hawaii has been there are no schools which really excel. This is also probably why Obama ended up at Occidental for 2 years. He simply didn't have the grades to get into Columbia as a HS grad.

Foo Bar

Which ethnic minority would that be?

Black, of course.

Why?

Because the number of private school scholarships awarded for each of the reasons 1 through 3 I provided is vastly greater than the number of private school scholarships awarded just because the student is from a foreign country. I try to back up a good deal of what I say here with supporting links, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assert that without supplying proof. Feel free to prove me wrong with a link that indicates otherwise.

JM Hanes

Is someone trying to prove you wrong?

PD

re: sports, there's the Shreveport-Bossier Captains

Used to be named the Shreveport Sports, a team with perhaps the dullest logo ever (a baseball).

PeterUK

Could quite easily be the bank executives unmarried daughters illegitimate child.

Thomas Collins

OK, verner, why don't you check with your daughter to get permission to share her Facebook info with me, and if she is OK with it, email me your daughter's Facebook info to my private email (nunway2@yahoo.com). I'll reply with my son's Facebook info, and give my son your daughter's Facebook info.

pagar

I'm curious, why would anyone think that in a island where mixed race is the norm, where the Mother, Grandfather and Grandmother were white, that a child would be said to represent a black minority?

Pofarmer

Now that Obama has bravely jeopardized our national security by releasing the OLC memos on enhanced interrogation, maybe he can muster comparable courage and release his own college transcript.

Good Lord, what depressing commentary.

Thomas Collins

OK, thanks, PD. I'll tell him to support the Captains. Looks as if their season begins in May. They had a rough season last year (finished last in the South Division and had low attendance).

 Ann

This is definitely a cheap shot but why not.
Go to:
Michelle ObaMA
Click On Video at top:
First Lady: We 'Sneak Out' In Our Free Time

Watch Michelle explain what Obama would do if something bad happens to this country.
It is something like "Go down to the Oval Office and call a leader and someone in charge like the Secretary of State".

And she sneeks out for arugula cheeseburgers!!!
ROFLMAO

PD

Looks as if their season begins in May.

Sounds right. They're now in the American Association, which started as a breakaway from the Northern League, which had a short schedule beginning late May.

JM Hanes

"First Lady: We 'Sneak Out' In Our Free Time"

Headline that one on the 100 Days checklist: FLOTUS Tells White Lie.

Meanwhile DC Metro reports that there's been a virtual epidemic of school kids disappearing out their windows when they're supposed to be in bed. Police returning the youngsters to their homes say the kids call it baracking and exiting.

PD

"We sneak out without telling anybody" (my emphasis)

If that's true, and she's saying this in public, she's creating the possibility of a pretty serious kidnap/hostage situation, I'd think.

Rick Ballard

"she's creating the possibility of a pretty serious kidnap/hostage situation, I'd think"

PD,

I agree. It would be much like that described in The Ransom of Red Chief.

 Ann

JMH,

Really, her answers were so incredibly dumb it was funny.

Not to mention that she obviously has that ugly sweater in more than one color. :)

PD

Come now, how can you possibly find that sweater less than Camelotesque!

JM Hanes

Speaking of Camelot, Todd Purdham strives mightily to make the case for a metamorphosis in Washington now that the Obamas have come to town, and ends up essentially and, it seems, inadvertently, describing the same ol' same ol' folks doing the same ol' things they always do. LOL!

JM Hanes

Oh Geez. I suppose Cheap Shots is as good a thread as any for this:

Sen. John Kerry is seeking permission from both the Federal Election Commission and the Senate Ethics Committee to invest $300,000 in campaign funds in a documentary film on injured Iraq War veterans.
Why do I suspect that this film will not be about paying homage to heroism and mustering support for wounded vets? It's hard to believe that anybody who really respects and cares about veterans soliciting John F*king Kerry's involvement.

clarice

I can't tell you how loathsome I find that man,jmh..my evil twin hopes he gets deeply involved in the making of the film and gets accidently injured by some special effects device, rendering him speechless for just years and years.

 Ann

I bet he wants a starring role as an injured Vet that received three purple hearts for his heroic conduct and courageous action in battle.

Let him... Bring.It.On!

You would think he would have learned something in his miserable life.

And may I say cheap, cheap, cheap! That would cover his wardrobe, tanning, botox, makeup and hair.

MayBee

I provided is vastly greater than the number of private school scholarships awarded just because the student is from a foreign country.

I can tell you it is common knowledge among those of us who have lived overseas that coming from a foreign country can be an enormous advantage when it comes to getting into schools.
I imagine a boy coming from Indonesia would have been quite exotic. I don't know what boxes got checked at Puhahou and then at Occidental. I do know we don't know anything about his transcripts at the places were he received his education, and/or how he paid for it.

He is mysterious and a tad secretive, especially for someone who has written two memoirs.

ROA

Perhaps Kerry wants to demonstrate how much better it would be for veterans if their private health care insurance paid for their service connected injuries rather than having the US pick up the tab.

Pagar

Obama is just carrying on what Kerry started some 40 years ago.

Obama Administration's Assault on the American Warrior Commences

From the memeorandum insert on JOM. The article is must read in my opinion.

IMO,The Obama Administration is making it very plain that any American who defends America will be destroyed politically.

Soylent Red

Come now, how can you possibly find that sweater less than Camelotesque!

Oh geez...when I first read that, I read "Cameltoesque". Which would not be about a sweater. And would not be something I'd like to think about WRT Michelle Obama.

TC: I haven't been there in about ten years, but if I'm remembering right Shreveport can be rough in places. Tell your son to go with a gated complex or security building. Can't be too safe.

Re...Barry, Punahou and Occidental

My suspicion is that he wants to keep the records secret for the same reason as his birth certificate: something in them goes against his self-constructed mythology. My guess is that PUK is probably pretty close to the mark, i.e. Barry wants to suppress embarassing artifacts of his bastardy.

His Occidental records likely show him to be a disinterested student. People don't change that much from high school senior to college freshman, and the ways of the weed-smoking bullshit artist were probably difficult to shake off. I've seen a few of Barry's type in my day, and the trajectory doesn't vary much between 15-22.

PD

if I'm remembering right Shreveport can be rough in places.

That's why I left when I was 3. :-)

peter

The Harvard transcript won't reveal much--everyone gets A's and B's : I'd be more interested in knowing why no one, except for Ted Rall and one prof has any recollection of Obama in his Columbia years. Might there be something about Bill Ayers in there?

peter

Ann, thanks for that link to the Michelle Obama video. Very revealing. One observation, her phoniness sounds very similar to another great phony, Hillary Clinton, same shtick. Empty verbiage, a visage but somehow the real person does come through the masquerade.

And she is so busy-- taking care of the puppy and going to soccer practice and watching movies with her kids (and not cooking) that she has no spare time?
Lame

PeterUK

Soylent,
Also the record would reveal that Barrack Hussein Obama is a construct, like Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan. In the pantheon of the oppressed,Barry Dunham would not have cut it.
A mystery man can be anything he wants.I can see the drama queens of Hollywood and Academe buying it but not a mature democracy.
No doubt the truth will be in the files of the FSB and similar agencies to be used at an opportune moment.

motionview

Peter's got the spirit. Releasing the Columbia transcript is not about grades. It would just be interesting to know which classes he took and when. And then from public sources to see who taught those classes and who (probably) took them. And to, you know, maybe, interview them. Just to grok The One in fullness.

sbw

Grades are less important. Both Harvard and Columbia records would reveal classes and connections.

cathyf

I agree, sbw -- the connections part is particularly interesting. There are all sorts of folks willing to come forward with the "I knew him when" stories of his early days doing the community organizing thing in Chicago, students and faculty at UC, etc. And the Chicago Tribune headed to Hawaii, looked up his high school classmates and was able to connect pseudonyms from the books to the real people. None of what they found has been particularly earthshattering, of course. But it's the lack of anybody remembering him at Occidental and Columbia which is weird. If we have a public list of classes, then we have the 5-10-15-20 other students who were in whatever classes had small sections all coming forward and saying, "No sh!t? I was in the same class as the president? I sure don't remember him!" Whether they agree with his policies or not, people have this natural human interest in celebrity, and if nobody remembers him then that's something that will end up getting lots of interest as being weird.

boris

and if nobody remembers him

Well it's not like his name was Valerie.

PeterUK

"and if nobody remembers him then that's something that will end up getting lots of interest as being weird."

Virtually impossible to disappear in the age of the camera. There can be only one explanation,Obama wasn't there,Pakistan perhaps?
