In the bitter Birthers versus Believers smackdown, the Mighty Kos has unveiled an opinion poll showing that 23% of respondents are still in the haze about whether Obama is a US citizen or not. Unsurprisingly, Birthers break to the right and Believers shade left.
Believer Glenn Thrush, evidently troubled by the failure of the 'Birther' mockery to convert these heathens, now wants to hurry up and label them racist. I'm sure some of them are, so let's smear them all!
Honorary birther Andy McArthy of NRO ponders the opacity of a President who promised transparency.
I expect to be back with more when time permits, but briefly, I am in the "Show Us The Certificate" camp - what's the mystery?
WILD A** GUESS DU JOUR: This is from Mark Steyn:
Do I think he was born in Hawaii? Yes — if only because the alternative is way too audacious (to use an Obama-ism) to contemplate.
But do I think there's something on the long-form birth certificate he doesn't want us to see? Yes. That would seem entirely likely — and consistent with his modus operandi.
Let's think big (in a small-minded way) - suppose the original certifcate has Obama as "Barry", with attendant documentation formally changing his name to "Barack" when Obama was in his teens or twenties. That would be a hard memory lapse to explain, and sort of mar the current version of his "Dreams From My Father" story.
On of the main reasons for doubting the Kenyan document -- besides the Republic of Kenya problem -- is how easy it would be for someone to produce a reasonable fake. And of course that someone wants to remain anonymous because he fears for his life.
I'm actually surprised there aren't dozens of phony Barack Obama BCs floating around by now. Are pranksters becoming lackadaisical these days?

Someone on Free Republic posted a link the Constitution of Republic of Kenya, 1963, so that issue may be less clear than I had supposed it would be. I'm still very skeptical of the document, however.

I'll bet real money that Mark Steyn has hit the nail on the head, as he is wont to do.
But leave Obama's medical records alone - they are private. A president - any president - would do a great service to the cause of personal liberty and privacy by refusing to release records that are no-one else's damn business, no matter what clamor may come.
