Obama has made a brilliant career of caricaturing opposing views and then presenting himself as the calm, reasonable alternative to both extremes. When he balanced his grandmother against the deplorable Rev. Wright, it was offensive; when Obama plays his balaning act on the world stage with America as one of his foils, it is dangerous, as Liz Cheney explains.
All good ideas, but Liz doesn't want to admit that
we're dealing with a Wallace and Robeson viewpoint, not Truman and Acheson to say the least.

LOL, Sue! Better be careful - you wouldn't want to make Lynn angry!
Posted by: centralcal | July 13, 2009 at 12:55 PM
Why, I have no idea what you mean, c-cal. Her father is proud. I am proud. That's all I'm sayin'.
Posted by: Sue | July 13, 2009 at 12:58 PM
Right, it just seemed a little off, in the phrasing.
Posted by: narciso | July 13, 2009 at 01:16 PM
Ooooh, narciso - Sue intended that phrasing! She claims "dibs" on Cheney - and I challenge her from time to time. She was establishing her "dibs" superiority (presumed).
Posted by: centralcal | July 13, 2009 at 01:20 PM
Right, I know but if Lynne happened to drop by this corner of the 'intertubes'

LOL. If Mrs. Cheney is lurking, I love you too!

Presumed? Not hardly.

Dreamer.
Posted by: centralcal | July 13, 2009 at 02:18 PM
Ann Coulter's publisher should re-issue her 'Treason', because what Liz is saying about Obama's performance is exactly what Coulter's premise was in that book; that liberals can't root for America.

Of course Obama isn't interested in history.Obama hasn't got one.
If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

It must really be getting bad on the Hill. Feingold has now called for Cheney's secret CIA program to be investigated.

Perhapse this is the Dem exit strategy on Obamacare and Cap and Scam. They can tell the base they are putting off work on those to deal with this 'critical issue to the constitutional health of the republic.' Then they can go back to the base in 2010 and tell them the only way they will get Obamacare and Cap and Scam will be to re-ellect Dems to congress.

Obama will regret starting the tradition of investigating the previous administration.
The bastard's as dirty as they come.

Ranger-
That is a pretty good strategy. It would also take the focus off this rather unfortunate set of events.
That link looks to be the real intelligence scandal.

bad,
"Obama will regret starting the tradition of investigating the previous administration."
One can only presume that Obama has no intentions of being in the position to investigated. Barrack Obama,President for life.

Thanks for that link, Rich. I hadn't seen this before:

A number of people with whom I rarely discuss politics have expressed that fear, PUK.
Posted by: bad | July 13, 2009 at 03:29 PM
bad-
The problem is that the bureaucracy is going to be so personally loyal to Obama that by 2012 there won't be any investigation of his administration if he were to lose, and he'll have the enHansened ACORN census numbers to plus up dem margins all over the country, so I'm not so sure he will lose. Obama will make it pretty much impossible for anyone other than him to run the Executive.

And I'm late again-PeterUK hit the right note: President for Life.
Posted by: RichatUF | July 13, 2009 at 03:33 PM
Rich,
That would be like Harrison, Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Harding, Roosevelt and Kennedy then. So far he's only made it past Harrison.

Check out the update on the CIA secret plots at HOTAIR. If the info is correct, some DEM congresscritters are gonna be embarrassed.

Pagar.
Thanks,What about his credit rating?
Looks like Obama has the same CV as the Invisible Man.
Could be the ultimate Nigerian scam.

Posted by: RichatUF | July 13, 2009 at 03:31 PM
Very true, but there are ways to deal with that. One is to make life so misserable for the DC beurohacks that they simply choose to quite.
One way to do that would be to invert the "Baseline Budgeting" rules, so that last years budget becomes the cap, rather than the floor. Then impose a modest annual recision rate on every discretionary spending department of 1 or 2%. And to cap things off, any department that can't meet their recision goals will have the remainder taken out of the pay account for that fiscal year.
Posted by: Ranger | July 13, 2009 at 04:46 PM
Then impose a modest annual recision rate on every discretionary spending department of 1 or 2%.
Problem is, it's gonna take much, much more than that to sort this thing out. The next President, if they should intend to fix this mess, is going to be very unpopular. Of course, it will probably still be Bush's fault.

You simply have to see this really short video at Gateway Pundit.

Posted by: Pofarmer | July 13, 2009 at 05:21 PM
True. If it were me, I would argue for an 8% reduction right away, to make up for the 8% boost the Dems pushed through and Barry signed back in February. Then I'd call for 3% recisions every year until the budget ballenced. But just getting a 1% annual budget cut though any congress would be a true achievment.

According to some of the comments on the article at Hot Air, his replacement is qualified because:
he has never worked in the auto industry,
has worked for unions, and last but not least--has an MBA from Harvard.

cc,
From the comments it appears Barry may have been introducing some of his guys to Medvedev which is why they're not shaking his hand. If so GP should correct it.
Posted by: Ignatz | July 13, 2009 at 06:07 PM
I read those comments too, Ignatz. So I watched the video about 4 times. O's lips are not moving with each of the gestures and he definitely looks nonplussed, to say the least.
I even looked to see if an interpreter was in the frame (couldn't tell) which might explain O's just grimacing and gesturing.
Posted by: centralcal | July 13, 2009 at 06:35 PM
Ignatz: I went back and additional comments have been posted. One had a link to a WaPo photo, that does indeed show Obama introducing Mevedev to the "US" delegation.
Still - in the video he sure does not look comfortable about whatever is taking place.
Posted by: centralcal | July 13, 2009 at 06:42 PM
Ignatz,
No,Obama has erased his past so effectively they can't see him.You have Harvey the giant rabbit as president.
Posted by: PeterUK | July 13, 2009 at 06:51 PM
It sure looked like he was trying to shake their hands and was perplexed when they didn't respond.
Posted by: Barbara | July 13, 2009 at 06:57 PM
Notice how team Barry timed the Rattner resignation with the first day of the Sotto Show to ensure little media attention and minimize the damage of another bad executive choice by The Won.

Why would you trust the Wapo?

Posted by: PD | July 13, 2009 at 09:50 PM
Zero does not have to struggle to find disasters to hide other disasters. That much is damn true. So put up a racist for the Supreme and reminding a ton of blue collar folks who voted for him that this guy is nothing more than a unreconstructed Liberal, is going to allow him to hide Rattner resigning?
Ask me in about a year how that whole gambit worked out.
