What would the HHS secretary know about health care policy coming from the WH? I mean really, who are you going to believe, the gal Obama picked to head up his HEALTH and Human Service cabinet post and department or some slub reacting to the netroots flinging poo from out of their cage again...

Jim Ryan

Maybe the lefties crashed the site by howling about this fishy stuff. Canadian CMA presidents say Canadian health insurance is "imploding"? They gotta be on U.S. ins. industry's payroll, right?

verner

Obamacare is as dead as Clintoncare. Americans DO NOT WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. The Obama administration is just going to have to figure out how to make the loss look like some sort of win and salvage the next three years.

As for the fishy email site--I hope whoever thought of that one got booted. They'll never live it down. I bet the emails telling fishy.gov what a stalinist thug Obama was outweighed the snitches by about 100 to one.

Porchlight

I bet the emails telling fishy.gov what a stalinist thug Obama was outweighed the snitches by about 100 to one.

Yep. I can't decide whether it's hard to believe they could be so clueless as to set that thing up, or whether it's quite easy to believe. Depressing either way.

Her name is Linda Douglass. She is a reporter for ABCNews now working directly inside the White House.

She's still working for Obama.

As for the email system ... it's being revamped, I suspect, since it was way too easy to plug just anyone's email address into it resulting in the recipient being deluged with Linda Douglass' picture.

See this Politico piece:

White House press corp except for one Major Garrett and at times Jake Tapper are complete pussy cats and pawns of deception. Garrett blew this thing wide open and Meagyn Kelly continues to make Bill Barton her personal punching bag. The got caught in a Nixonian caper and now pay the price by having to close it down. But Linda can still go back to work at ABC since its almost like she never left.

Health concession fuels blowback

Howard Dean, the former Democratic National Committee chairman, went so far as to say Democrats should try to “tackle health reform another time.”

“You can’t really have reform without a public option,” Dean said on CBS News’s “The Early Show. “If you don’t want to have the public option, … just do a little insurance reform … and then we’ll tackle health reform another time. But let’s not pretend we’re doing reform without a public option.

And strategist James Carville became the first leading Democrat to suggest publicly that there might be political advantage in letting Republicans “kill” health care.

“Put a bill out there, make them filibuster it, make them be what they are, the party of no,” Carville said. “Let them kill it. Let them kill it with the interest group money, then run against them. That's what we ought to do.”

President Bush fought for years to get computerized medical records. He got a lot of resistance from Democrats and the NYT who had privacy concerns. They were afraid some third parties might get a hold of private medical records and use them to send out unwanted emails, or something.

They wont push for this because they are scared that the American people will beat the living snot out of anyone not in a blue prog hell district. Carville is just blowing smoke.

First time in 11 majors where Tiger had the 54 hole lead that he was beaten and a first for Yang being the first Asian to win a major golf championship. He gets to go to Bermuda in October to play in the PGA Grand Slam at newly renovated Port Royal. You know Port Royal, don't ya? That's were our friends, the Uighurs from Gitmo are working.

Rob Crawford

Why do they let this rube [Carville], who is one of the prime architects of 12 years of Republican rule, out of his playpen?

The bigger question is why anyone in the professional media bothers to interview him. He and his wife have quite a scam going -- stir up shit, and no matter which party wins, they're the media's go-to drones!

Ranger

Well, it looks like a few people are really taking the idea of using Alinky's rules against the left. http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NjQ2MjAzYzRkOTI3OTdlYjljZDNkMjdiNGY2YTQyMTE=>This bit at the corner for example. Here's a taste:

Now, let me be blunt: Michelle Obama, the product of lifelong affirmative-action coddling, is an intellectual lightweight who fancies herself a serious thinker. Just read her Princeton senior thesis, an intermittently coherent stream-of-consciousness pile of leftist jargon, campus pseudo-seriousness, and racial-identity babble. Can there be any doubt that the Princeton administrators accepted it only because of her skin color?

To me this looks designed to provoke her into joining the debate, at which point her participation in the UofC Hospital dumping of poorer people on local clinics can be raised as an example of how Obamacare will "bend the cost curve."

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Did anyone else watch the new version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" last night?

They had a question regarding a NYT crossword where the clue was "blue state." The black contestant missed the question and got booted before even reaching the $1000 mark. The correct answer was "melancholy." But, the contestant picked choice #2, "communist." I laughed so hard, my sides hurt.

Those same "lower level staffers" that plagued the campaign now continue to bedevil the Obama White House.

I wonder what the White House will do with the e-mails from the discussion group for the works of Emily Dickinson that I signed them up for.

I have friends in Bermuda who sent me an article from their local paper (8-14). The Uighers are now working at Port Royal...I can see the headlines now......Moslem Terrorists cause disturbance at PGA.

Cecil Turner

As for the fishy email site--I hope whoever thought of that one got booted.

Are we sure it was Douglass? Maybe the Ayerses brought the idea back from their recent trip to Cuba. The concept has been a mainstay for some time now:

Beyond official government enforcement bodies, government sponsored community organizations known as Committees for the Defense of the Revolution reach into every Cuban neighborhood encouraging citizens to monitor each other. According to Castro, the intention was to create a, "system of collective revolutionary vigilance so that everyone will know who everyone else is ... what they devote themselves to, who they meet with, what activities they take part in."ii Community organizers known as block captains run patriotic group activities. The role of the captains is to report and spy on those who do not participate.

No, he remembers it from his first trip in 1966, although the Bolivarian Committees in Caracas, are a close second

Dave (in MA)

Sara, that is great.

I flagged myself on Friday and heard nothing back -- but my wife called me and said there were some guys walking around in the yard when she came home and they took off when she asked them what was going on. Sounds fishy to me.

And strategist James Carville became the first leading Democrat to suggest publicly that there might be political advantage in letting Republicans “kill” health care.

Well, Serpenthead, I should think the reverse might be true. Let the Mediacrats pass the thing and then we'll see who takes the blame for it in 2010. Jay Cost nailed this. Zero was not elected with a "mandate" to turn the U.S. into a socialist country. In fact, he barely had a mandate to do anything at all except have excess pigmentation in his skin and Not Be Bush. The bottom line on the whole mess is this and Crap & Charade are simply the pent-up childish fantasies dwelling in the hearts of leftwing radicals like Waxman for 30-odd years. They don't care what the voters want; they just want to reify their fantasies.

I'm sorta bummed about the fish site. I forwarded emails that I got from barackobama.com with:

Another Joe the Plumber. There is no doubt that this young man's life is about to take a turn for the worse. It needs documenting.

The page that called for "fishy" information to be reported still seems to be up. It's even been updated - there is now a new "Reality Check" page, apparently. On the whitehouse.gov site, mind you - not on a campaign site.

Sigh.

Why do they let this rube, who is one of the prime architects of 12 years of Republican rule, out of his playpen?

Meanwhile, Rush just played a clip from Carville's partner (Begala), talking about how insignificant Sarah Palin is intellectually. She doesn't have "intellectual heft," he says. You can just hear the contempt dripping in his voice.

Rush's comment: If she's so stupid and Obama's so brilliant, why did she win the debate on death panels?

Listening to Begala opine about how someone else is stupid, just just know what he's also saying is how he's so smart. But someone who's smart doesn't need to tell anyone else. What a doofus.

How will the WaPo report the ending of flag@whitehouse.gov when they have never reported on it?

I can't help it. That cracks me up every time.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

And for those of you who admit to being big Dancing with the Stars fans, here is the rest of the line up for the upcoming season:

The complete cast for season nine of ABC's Dancing With The Stars:

Mya, singer
Melissa Joan Hart, actress
Michael Irvin, former Dallas Cowboy
Ashley Hamilton, actor, comedian, singer-songwriter
Aaron Carter, singer
Kathy Ireland, former supermodel-turned-businesswoman
Debi Mazar, actress
Natalie Coughlin, U.S. Olympic swimmer
Louie Vito, snowboarder
Chuck Liddell, ultimate fighting champ
Donny Osmond, singer
Tom DeLay, former Republican congressman
Macy Gray, singer
Joanna Krupa, model and actress
Mark Dacascos, Iron Chef personality
Kelly Osbourne, reality star

What cracks me up every time is how the same people who think taking money away from people who work for a living will help the economy are the same people who consider someone who's successfully run a state stupid.

When he is not embarassing the NBA ( no mean feat BTW ) he has a cable channel that no one watches where the Asshat Rather is allowed to prattle on about something or other, I never watch so I dont know his spiel these days.

OT: We discussed this a little bit over the weekend on another thread and today the Politico reports:

"ColorOfChange, an African-American online political organization that’s targeted Beck’s advertisers since his calling Obama a “racist,” says in a release that eight companies confirmed today they’re pulling ads from the top-rated Fox News show. The list of 20 companies now includes Wal-Mart, CVS, and Best Buy."

This is making me nervous. I think these folks are finding a new power and will, per usual, get drunk on it. If they succeed with getting Beck out, no conservative leaning host will be safe.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Beck is barely 2nd to O'Reilly as Fox's most popular show, so they are cutting off their own noses. If Beck and even O'R decide to make this an issue with their viewers, I guarantee these companies will be sorry they started a fight.

From AOSHQ comes this piece taken from Newsweek's Jonathan Alter:

"The United States has two parties now—the Obama Party and the Fox Party. The Obama Party is larger, but it is unfocused and its troops are whiny. The Fox Party, which shows up en masse to harass politicians, is noisy and practiced in the art of simplistic obstruction."

Chad, the blogger at Ace's highlights the "bias," but I would say it is jealousy. NO, Mr. Alter, the Obama party isn't larger, and it is shrinking all the time, rather rapidly, in fact. I am a proud member of the Fox Party and we are the ones that are growing and gaining.

God willing, we will continue to.

What follows is an examination of the federal government’s attempts to track the web habits of every single citizen in the United States that merely visits a government site for the purpose of gaining information from a government that is supposed to serve them. Big Brother IS Watching You

Extraneus

Yeah, Ann, that was a good comment by McCarthy. Disappointing that he had to write it, though.

I guess Lowrey has something to do with the NRO editorials, and he's probably still embarrassed about his piece in which he referred to the tingle he got when he (paraphrasing) "felt like she was winking at me" during the VP debate, or whenever she did the wink. Meanwhile, she was winking at third-graders, wasn't she?

It was a stupid piece, and he's probably still compensating for it at home and elsewhere.

And if you haven't checked out Conservatives4Palin.com, go over there. It is impressive.

Here is their piece on the NRO Infighting About Palin

NRO's editors take aim at Palin, and instead end up shooting themselves in the foot. Proof if proof were needed that when it comes to the issues that really matter you're better off reading Facebook than the magazine of the late (and sorely missed) William F. Buckley.
And that is just a tease...read it all. :)

Yeah he probably got a fair amount of grief about that, but the main point where he should have stopped, was that she projects

they are either unable or unwilling to fight.

Too many in our party have dissapointed with bold words and little follow through.

The Forehead is such a metro douche! Carville is sort of funny in an Al Capp kind of a way; he'd be drawn as a snake rattling out an incomprehensible stream of gibberish as hillbilly gals with giant cans (Al was a young boy's favorite newspaper cartoonist) roll their eyes and look away. Carville would make an excellent fulltime spokesman for SEC football (which I've seen him do on occasion) because it's not too intellectually challenging plus I don't have to look at his wife's hideous over-use of makeup.

The Forehead is like your weird second cousin who lives by himself that your wife badgers into inviting him to Thanksgiving, where you have to keep him from the kids; not because he'd go perv on them but because there's the risk they'd get mad with him and tie him up with duct-tape with the turkey baster stuck in his caboose.
