hit and run

You mind if I make 161 my twitter photo?

Because I'm just one click away...

Pofarmer

Now I've begun to wonder if, by having elected possibly the least competent president ever, even counting Andrew Johnson and Martin Van Buren, Obama hasn't actually done more harm to the position of blacks in the US than he could have done good.

Pretty sure I said that since the very beginning.

Janet

Yeah hit those are a great bunch of pictures on that stealthfusion site.

Pofarmer

A verfied two million, next September, two months before the election will pucker their collective (or collectivist?) rears in no uncertain terms.

I dunno, I'd as soon ambush em at the ballot box, rather than give them a bunch more opportunities to lie to us.

Charlie (Colorado)

Bunches...I particularly like the ones from steps of Capitol give a good look out over the crowd down to Washington Monument.

YES!

Janet

I don't really want to become a protester. I want the media to tell the truth so Americans can (and I believe most will) make the right decision for our country.

Most of these phony politicians run as conservatives, or at least conservative lite, to get elected (except in the bluest of blue nutlands). But they are really far leftists. The media helps them put one over on the voters. I always feel the media is the big enemy, not busy Americans.

maryrose

gmax: Great news about Jmax. I remember well voting for her and always knew with her discipline and intelligence she would go far
Thanks again to all the JOM people who traveled to Washington and rallied in your home towns! You are true patriots and we will get our country back. Obama can"t stop us now...

Charlie (Colorado)

Hmm. Don Surber has a collection of people noticing the competence problem. They're not Republicans.

Charlie (Colorado)

I dunno, I'd as soon ambush em at the ballot box, rather than give them a bunch more opportunities to lie to us.

All I can figure that would give them more opportunities to lie to us is if we're causing them insomnia.

Squishy Squashy

'Shih Tzus against obama" Love it.

We're inching closer to one percent of the population.

I guess you could call us the Obnoxious Minority.

PD

Huh. I come back from evening service expecting to find a bunch of comment about the Obama Traveling Road Show appearance on 60 Minutes, and ... nothing.

Anyone watch it? Was it a masterful performance?

BobS

hit and run....thanks for the kind comments in an earlier thread. We have 130 faculty members at our school and only three said they would use it. No member of the social studies department did. Our principal told emailed us that he has received alot of emails from parents whom were strongly against showing the speech and using the lesson.

Defunct Whig

"Sherman Frederick, publisher of the Las Vegas Review Journal on Wednesday night’s speech: “After nine months, Americans have begun to make up their minds about this president, and the growing conclusion is this: On the menu of competency, this leader of the free world is one taco short of a full combination plate. He’s undisciplined, snooty and less gifted than initially thought, making him ill-prepared to grasp greatness, even when history offers it.”" D. Surber

" The leftist adherents to the Whig Theory of History see Lincoln as part of a continuum running from Runnymede to Cromwell to the so-called Glorious Revolution to the American Revolution to Lincoln to Wilson to Roosevelt to Kennedy and beyond.

Of course, this Whig Theory of History is preposterous and fallacious and maintained only by a thoroughly dishonest editing of historical events. However, the leftists are correct in viewing Lincoln and the effect of his career on the course of the United States as moving America away from an aristocratic society founded upon traditions, authority and property and toward a mass democratic society founded upon universal suffrage, equality and unlimited government-mandated social experimentation. While it is not remarkable that leftists should admire Abraham Lincoln, it is noteworthy and surprising that the Lincoln Myth has been marketed to moderate and conservative Americans.

PeterUK

Why do those who went on this historic march now cancel all subscriptions to the MSM. A mass letter writing campaign to advertisers and sponsors should follow.
Hit them where it hurts,in their pockets.

PeterUK

"Why do those who went on this historic march NOT now cancel all subscriptions to the MSM."

Sorry it is late in Brownitania.

Pofarmer

I come back from evening service expecting to find a bunch of comment about the Obama Traveling Road Show appearance on 60 Minutes, and ... nothing.

Anyone watch it? Was it a masterful performance?

Uhmmm, no. I haven't watched a single Obama speech, up to and including this one, and, I don't intend to start now.

I assume he's doubling down in the face of the protest in DC, and, I assume he'll double down in tomorrow nights speech. All that talk about GWB being in a bubble............

PeterUK

You've seen one Obama speech, you've seen them all.Looks like a Punch and Judy Show.

Pofarmer

All I can figure that would give them more opportunities to lie to us is if we're causing them insomnia.

True nuff dat.

However, I guess I would like the politicians all comfortable and being themselves and SPLAT.

Oh well, maybe at least the days events will encourage Republicans and Blue Dogs to at least ACT like conservatives.

Oliver Willis

Based on the crowd, future of GOP is a 50+ white couple. Oh wait that's the present of the GOP

Janet

about the Don Surber article - Barack Obama is a phony poser. He poses as a Christian. He poses as a hip urban black man. He poses as some super smart elite idea guy. It is all an act. He is an actor.

He picked that church for political reasons. He grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia, then went to an elite prep school...then on to ivy league schools. How is he a hip urban black guy that understands? He has been groomed and given jobs and legislative acts that others wrote and prepared for him.

He is a dangerous phony empty suit....and the media covered for him. They could have found out and reported it.

David Waldman

After inaug, I had to walk from Capitol all the way to Foggy Bottom to get on Metro. That had 500,000 fewer than teabaggers claim today.

clarice

David, I hope you won't be offended if I say that you were probably slowed down on that walk by mounds of garbage, not human beings.

You better count the rings in Pelosi's neck, not to mention the Grand Keagle and Harry"The Mummy"Reid.

bishop

Ihr, the holocaust deniers, you have the nerve to link that here, Lincoln was very much in the character of the founders, Wilson and the rest are certainly not in that tradition,

PeterUK

Yes David, but you can only count up to fifteen. Fingers and toes.

Pofarmer

Based on the crowd, future of GOP is a 50+ white couple. Oh wait that's the present of the GOP

There's lot's of us out here with jobs and little kids and families. It's rather hard to march.

We'll be there if there has to be another one though, and we'll bring friends.

Okie from Muskogee

Looking to 2010 and 2012?

History is a fine teacher for those capable of learning.

Steve Benen;

" Following up on yesterday's item on the Bush economic policies creating something akin to a lost decade, reader C.G. reminded me of this item from Jim Kessler and Anne Kim in April.

10.8% unemployment, 6.2% inflation, and a doubling of the deficit over the previous year. Those were the cold truths that President Reagan and Republicans faced in November 1982. Yet despite this bleak economic news, and widespread predictions that Republicans would lose the Senate, they retained their 54 Senate seats and limited House losses to 27 seats, many as a result of redistricting. In 2010, the shoe could be on the other foot. President Obama and congressional Democrats could be riding out the worst recession since, at least, 1982. And Republicans will be salivating at the chance to pick up seats by tying Democrats to Obama and the economy.

So, what did Republicans do in '81 and '82? Among other things, Reagan and his allies kept reminding people of why they didn't like Carter/Mondale."

Okie from Muskogee

Bush finally did something for his Country.

clarice

My goodness. Doesn't there seem to be a herd of people whistling past the graveyard here tonight?

Hi all; speaking as charlie's ass, I got a pretty hard workout last night from all the big numbers charlie was pulling out of me.

Then I see that pic that shows the crowd petering out around 3rd Street, and Fox barely discussed it this morning it was so lame.

Given charlie's proclivities, petering out is usually a welcome event in my life. But I wish someone could have posted that pic a little earlier yesterday. It could have saved me a lot of grief.

Anyway, when you see him posting up his usual bullshit, could you try to think of me, charlie's ass, and say a little prayer on my behalf?

From my China hotel room I see the blackout continues on BBC and CNN International. Did another hour this morning surfing CNN, BBC, CNBC, TV5Monde(French), Japan and Chinese channels.

The BBC finally showed they could do an indepth report with video of angry marching protestors---in western China. The angry Urumqui, China protests were obviously news worthy, but half a million more folks marching in DC didn't seem worthy of note. Oh well.

ChannelNewsAsia (I think Singapore), almost did the story but not quiet. The Anchor had on some lefty correspondent from DC (Kate Moody?) who did a 3 minute bit damning Joe Wilson and the "You Lie" meme, and then detailing how shocking it was personally to Obama and Nacy Pelosi, and how Pelosi is going to demand an apology from Republicans on the floor of the House, etc. During these talking points, the screen was split in half and protestors at the march carrying signs were shown, but they were never commented upon whatsoever, so no one would have known what they were doing, and the intent was simply to buttress the yacking correspondents point that Joe Wilson and his supporters are unruly and uncivil and the bad guys.

That's the talking point that's being presented over here.

For what it's worth, todays China Daily Newspaper, has a front page photo above the fold of protestors as they march and carry signs, ">http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/world/2009-09/13/content_8686079.htm"> Link.

And for the record I'm not a fan of Li Sa's letter to the editor about the story, ( which I've pasted below), but at least in reading the China Daily, she had the opportunity to know that the protests occurred, which she wouldn't know given the opportunity to make a comment.

"Li-SA 2009-09-13 17:42
Millions of people in the USA have no health assurance, is it really a crime if Obama wants to change this ? I think the communists in China should stand by his side and not at the side of the capitalists , who dont care about fellow citizens!!

Charlies Teabag War

"My Washington Independent colleague Aaron Wiener interviewed Jim DeMint yesterday at the Bleating of the Over-privileged. He asked:

I agreed that it was a geographically and economically diverse crowd, but I noted that the protesters were at least 99 percent white — in fact, in my four-plus hours at the event, I’d only seen three African-American demonstrators.

DeMint had a simple explanation. “It’s probably just the time and organization and the media that promoted it,” he said.

Because powerful media forces of Jews and race-traitors will stop at nothing to have their revenge on the white man, making mock of those who guard them and so forth. Or -- who knows -- maybe DeMint meant that it's not like the teabaggers were advertising on BET.

OK, fuck this. I'm ready for some football."

daddy

Yes Mamm Clarice,

The China Trade war stuff is all over the local China News Channels. They are also upset about chicken exports being denied, as well as the tire dumping thing. CNN continues to show adoring segments on Obama's motivational speech to school kids and to Congress, and now seems to be adding to the push for Health Care by showing video of Bill Clinton eulogizing Walter Cronkite, and then sort of magnanimously advising Obama to ignore the Republican's and do this marvelous Health Care thing for the people.

It truly is like a scene from Orwell's 1984. Nobody is less a fan of the First Amendment "Freedom of the Press", than the Press itself.

Charlies Teabag War

Let’s save the status quo!
By: Jason Rosenbaum Sunday September 13, 2009 4:00 pm

Yesterday in DC, the Billionaires for Wealthcare were out in force, thanking the teabaggers for doing so much hard work for corporate profits.

Americans for Prosperity (AFP), a section 501(c)(4) organization, and Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFP Foundation), a section 501(c)(3) organization, are "committed to educating citizens about economic policy and a return of the federal government to its Constitutional limits." On its website it states that it supports "cutting taxes and government spending in order to halt the encroachment of government in the economic lives of citizens by fighting proposed tax increases and pointing out evidence of waste, fraud, and abuse."[1]

AFP was one of the lead organizations behind the Tax Day Tea Party protests April 15, 2009. Its Director is Art Pope, an ex-legislator who has been dubbed "The Knight of the Right" by Raleigh News and Observer journalist Rob Christensen.[2]

In mid-2009, Americans for Prosperity launched an advertising and advocacy campaign opposing U.S. health care reform named Patients United Now.[3]

Who we are

Billionaires for Wealthcare is a grassroots network of health insurance CEOs, industry lobbyists, talk-show hosts, and others profiting off of our broken health care system.

We are not a political, religious or even particularly well-organized group. We're simple folk, thrilled profiteers pouring out of our corner offices to dance on the grave of "Change."

We'll do whatever it takes to ensure another decade where your pain is our gain. After all, when it comes to healthcare, if we ain't broke, why fix it?

The internals must be really bad for O--even the AP suggests the Dems could lose the House..pretty soon his own party member s will be saying Barack who?

"NEW YORK (AP) - Despite sweeping Democratic successes in the past two national elections, continuing job losses and President Barack Obama's slipping support could lead to double-digit losses for the party in next year's congressional races and may even threaten their House control.

Fifty-four new Democrats were swept into the House in 2006 and 2008, helping the party claim a decisive majority as voters soured on a Republican president and embraced Obama's message of hope and change. Many of the new Democrats are in districts carried by Republican John McCain in last year's presidential contest; others are in traditional swing districts that have proved tough for either party to hold.

From New Hampshire to Nevada, House Democrats also will be forced to defend votes on Obama's $787 billion economic recovery package and on energy legislation viewed by many as a job killer in an already weak economy.

Add to that the absence of Obama from the top of the ticket, which could reduce turnout among blacks, liberals and young people, and the likelihood of a highly motivated GOP base confused by the president's proposed health care plan and angry at what they consider reckless spending and high debt.

Taken together, it could be the most toxic environment for Democrats since 1994, when the party lost 34 House incumbents and 54 seats altogether. Democrats currently have a 256-178 edge in the House, with one vacancy. Republicans would have to pick up 40 seats to regain control."

Oh and FWIW, even the China Daily has a photo and comments on that "Billionaires Against HealthCare" Mock protest in DC. Thus the house organ of the Red Chinese Commie Party has offered both sides and perspectives of the DC Protests, plus allowed individuals to electronically comment upon the stories. Yet the MSM organs of the free world; CNN, BBC etc, remain completely silent about the event. That's as good an example as I can provide to show you why I'm always ranting about the poisonous, anti-American view those 2 networks are always presenting to the world.

From an Ag board

Well, we left home 8:30 am on Friday and we made it back about 2:30 am this morning. It was a 10 hour drive for us. What an incredible day! I wanted to share with you my observations that you will not see on any news outlet.
First, the metro was packed with people. It took us 30 minutes once we got out of the cars to get up the escalator to the next level to exit. When we finally got outside, we were supposed to assemble and begin the march up Pennsylvania Ave. to the Capital at 11:30 am. We arrived at 10:30 and it had alreadly begun. When you got to Pennsylvanis Ave, it was a RIVER of people. The DC police along with the Parks Dept. allowed the march to begin over an hour early because there were so many people. Once you stepped into the street there was no stopping. The crowd kept coming from behind as more people arrived. If you needed to stop, you had to get off on the side walk. I talked to a man that had lived in DC for over 20 years. He was not a part of the protest and I do not know his party affiliation. He was sitting on a bench waiting for the crowd to thin so he could cross the street to one of the museums. He said that to start a march so early was unheard of.
Secondly, this was a very peaceful protest considering the size. Everyone that I saw was civil and polite. There was alot of trash after the day, but it was in or on the trash cans, not left laying in the streets or on the grounds.
Third, I only saw two anit-protesters. One was just holding a sign. The other one was speaking his mind, but was not being confrontational to anyone. I walked around the sides of the mall to see if there were any more, but I personally did not see any.
Fourth, the estimates on the number of people varies. The event organizers expected 40-50 thousand. CNN was reporting 500,00. The DC parks dept. estimated over a million. I don't think that anyone can know for sure, but the crowd was huge. The area in front of the capital, which was much larger than I had remembered was packed, about half of the mall itself was full, and the crowd spilled over into the side streets. I saw people from all walks of life and all ages.
Finally, my biggest dissapointment was that since the organizers were expecting a smaller crowd, there were not enough speakers set up. There was no way to hear any of the guest speakers from where we were.
I guess I will have to resort to you-tube to hear what the guest speakers had to say.
All in all, it was a fast trip and we are a bit tired today, but I am so glad that we went!

charlie's ass

My ass knows how to capitalize.

And given the general state of ignorance in the Republican party, no one can capitalize quite so effectively as charlie and his amazingly productive ass.

Pofarmer

don't know if ya'll have seen this, but it's from usa today to estimate the crowd size compared to Johnson's inaugural. From all that I've heard, and the pics I've seen, and the people spilling over into other streets, nut just in front of the Capital, this sucker was big, very big. 2 million probably isn't out of line according to this.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-01-19-crowd_N.htm

Hi! I'm charlie's ass! And charlie pulled the number 1.2 million out of me just a couple of minutes ago.

So feel free to tell all your friends that 1.2 million is the correct number, and it's firmly established by the miracle that is me... charlie's ass!

Charlie (Colorado)

Po, I used that in the Article Which Is Still Waiting. (PJM can be really slow with these things. You'd think they were publishing in print.) The interesting thing is that if we count just the area on the east end of the mall, which was clearly pretty packed, that's four times as many people as the legacy media estimates.

It's the sort of thing a cynic would site as calling the media's credibility into question.

charlie's ass

pofarmer's link describes Obama's inaugural, not yesterday's disappointing tempest in a teaparty.

Thank God you have charlie's ass here to set the record straight!

Charlie (Colorado)

Hi! I'm charlie's ass! And charlie pulled the number 1.2 million out of me just a couple of minutes ago.

Which would be the number reported for Parks and Rec, but actually my best estimate now is more like 850K.

Charlie (Colorado)

pofarmer's link describes Obama's inaugural, not yesterday's disappointing tempest in a teaparty.

Clearly what really chaps my ass is that it's not smart enough to know when Po is pointing out a tool for comparison.

Pofarmer

Which would be the number reported for Parks and Rec, but actually my best estimate now is more like 850K.

I'll admit it's hard to tell. What gets me is the pictures of all the folks on the monuments, and in and under the trees. There were a LOT of people there, and, I bet there can be more next time if need be.

Semantic Putz

Someone sure has an ass fixation lately.

Don't sweat it Charlie, it's not smart enough to know what it doesn't know and oddly proud of it. Thinking that 'inflating

charlie's ass

Isn't he amazing folks! BAM! Just like that, pulled the answer outta his ass!

from pofarmer's link:

Estimating the size of a crowd requires aerial photographs, dimensions of the gathering space, and an estimate of the crowd's density.

But no one's shown an aerial photograph from yesterday; isn't that odd? Almost like Fox News didn't feel like getting a definitive picture for a gathering of 850-1200k conservatives in DC, even when it was promoted by one of their entertainers.

Or maybe they just decided not to release the picture? But why would they do that? It's a puzzlement.

But I'm sure that after a few minutes of rummaging around charlie will pull something outta me.

Frau Nachglüh
