D.C. is full of damn fools.

Start the gas reduction with the Capitol.
Just read Spain's unemployment rate is already over 19%.

Boxer's a mess.

Heh, they cleared the hurdle by knocking it down. This breach of protocol dooms the bill.

We interrupt this thread to present Obama's reaction to Major Malik Nadal Hasan's murder of at least 12 fellow soldier's at Fort Hood: it is a "horrific outburst of violence." Apparently he didn't explain exactly how "violence" bursts out. So typical of liberals to resort to abstraction rather than deal straightforwardly with reality.

"Fort Hood Shooting -- Barack Obama Gives "Shout-Out" Before Comments on Shooting "

Twitter(s) lun

Here's the "shout out":

Would it be disrespectful of me to say: what an expletive deleted bozo?

It would be incredibly accurate, anduril.

Thanks, bad. I worry sometimes about that whole disrespect issue. There's something about him...

Don't get me started....

Jim Ryan

There's something about him...

Maybe it's you. Maybe you can't stand manipulative narcissistic kleptocratic con-men.

Good summary: FORT HOOD. Two suspects apprehended, shooter killed. Conspiracy? Basis for suspicion not specified, just:

“There were eyewitness accounts that there may have been more than one shooter. They tracked the suspected individuals to an adjacent facility, and they were apprehended. They are soldiers, and again they are suspects at this time and we are looking into that.”

Hard to bite your tongue sometimes, anduril. I share the feeling.

Thanks for the video link anduril. Sickening, just sickening.

Well if you want to feel some serious chilling, This">http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmVjNDEyYWRlN2ZlMmY5Mzc2NjBlMGE5MzBlM2JlNDI">This NRO post about Obama's comments on Scientists who don't drink the AGW Koolaid will do the trick:

"Last month, President Obama gave a somewhat chilling, if somewhat ignored, speech on climate change at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He stated that any scientific debate about the magnitude of global warming is unscrupulous, decrying “those who . . . make cynical claims that contradict the overwhelming scientific evidence when it comes to climate change, whose only purpose is to defeat or delay the change that we know is necessary.”

Then, the president talked tough, saying, “We’ll just have to deal with those people,” language familiar to anyone who knows the vagaries of Chicago politics."

I too love the story of the medieval Catholic Church's stiffling of Galileo, just as the AGW Left does. Yet they never look in the mirror and realize that they aren't the new Galileo's in that morality play---instead they're the new Medieval Church issuing Papal Bulls and Inquisitions from on high.

"But still it move's--err cools."

Only later did investors discover that what Goldman had promoted as triple-A rated investments were closer to junk.

Here is the article, Rick. LUN

I'd be astonished if he has a single science class after high school and in high school it probably was thinking about biology or something--That is Gore's background, too, BTW.

Patrick R. Sullivan

Man, Obama really gakked it on Ft Hood. About a thousand times worse than Bush's My Pet Goat moment.

You will never hear it anywhere outside of conservative blogs.

Patrick, the doofus is missing the gene that promotes dignity, class, and a sense of appropriate behavior.

Rick Ballard

That's an interesting piece. It's from a Voice of Obama publication too. Is he publicly negotiating a new rental agreement? It's the type of case which the SDNY branch of the DoJ would tackle (if the US Treasury were not currently a wholly owned GS subsidiary).

The DoJ could begin feeding investment bankers into their chipper at any time. They could hit JPM on the Alabama case and they could hit GS with this one as well as several others. It would be entirely unsurprising if AG Holder exercised the same degree of prosecutorial discretion wrt GS and JPM as he did with the Black Panthers. He's just that kinda guy - always looking out for the oppressed.

Great. Shep Smith is back on.

Doofus, yeah that's the word that comes to mind. I have lost all respect for anyone that tells me they voted for Obama. It says something about how superficial and unthinking they are. No respect...none.

By Googling images for "Malik Hasan," I came across this heart-rending page - an innocent person on death row. Perhaps something good can come out of this tragedy. Wish my father were still alive; he would have defended the innocent one for free.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Just saw a headline that they had over 10,000 at today's Capitol steps tea party to protest Pelosicare/Obamacare.

Rick:"The DoJ could begin feeding investment bankers into their chipper at any time"

I'm so glad you're back.

Wow--That was great on such short notice!

Charlie (Colorado)

They were boycotted by the Republicans and they still couldn't manage a unanimous vote.

If only it had been a card carrying Anti-Card-Check, Anti-Abortion, Anti-Global Warming, Tea-Partying, Right Winging, Limbaugh Listening, Jesus or Jewish fueled NRA'er who just mowed down all those innocents. Then we would have heard a speech of condemnation for the ages.

You betcha, daddy!

Pelosi breaks pledge to put final health care bill online for 72 hours before vote. LUN

Believe it or not she is a liar.
"...and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil."

Everyone on the Hill is a bit truth challenged, but Reid and Pelosi are world class lairs aren't they? They don't even blush when caught out at it.

unɹ puɐ ʇıɥ

Remember Obama's response to the Virginia Tech shooting?

Basically..."this was a senseless tragedy, but there's not just physical violence like the shooting, there's the verbal violence of Don Imus, the violence of kids without health care and the violence of jobs being shipped overseas."

He's not underperforming my expectations with his reaction today.

Fox has a cousin on turning this mad man into a victim.

Not to worry---The Media will supply the necessary outrage should their favorite politicians find themselves outrage challenged.

Shepster is talking to the killers cousin who informs us that the killer was bullied.

Boo friggen' hoo...

Retired Col who worked with him says he made antiwar statements such as "muslims should stand up" "we shoudln't be over there" etc.. Fox news

Captain Hate

Patrick, the doofus is missing the gene that promotes dignity, class, and a sense of appropriate behavior.

I think the cyborg that Arnold played in the first Terminator had a greater empathy to human suffering and insight into how to behave in public.

Rick, our newspaper is a Mcclatchey paper and we were shocked to read that article.

Not at the sliminess of Goldman Sucks but that McClatchy would report on it...

Paterson Empowered By Obama's Election Woes

Gov. Still Plans To Run Despite President's Request He Not

Brings President Clinton's Former Deputy Chief Of Staff On Board

ha ha EX

That should be fun.

His ads will emphasize his accomplishments, per the article--that 's interesting. Didn't know you could buy one second ad time.

Captain Hate

Gov. Still Plans To Run Despite President's Request He Not

bwak...lollers. This was the guy who can work with both sides of the aisle; another instance of the insight with which the MSM enhances our lives.

I don't mean to be unkind about whether it might impact her primary prospects against Perry, but this pic of Sen. Hutchison isn't flattering. (#11 in the Fort Hood shooting slideshow.)

Captain Hate

Ouch; sorry about the italics.

Rick Ballard

I wonder if Hoyer is going to be able to scrub the DANGER - BLUE DOG POISON label off the bill before it hits the floor. It's the type of political conundrum that is just loverly to contemplate. The Blue Dogs were elected in great part through the support of the Commie Caucus and know that if they don't roll over on command they won't see the support again in '10. They also know that if they vote for this socialist piece of crap legislation they probably will get their sorry butts kicked out in reprisal.

There's just nothing like seeing the opposition firmly seated on the horns of a dilemma to warm the cockles of my heart.

Rick, don't worry about the Blue Mutts. They can always get a job aa a lobbiest. Rahm has everything in the works.

So Chicago of him...

Buford Gooch

Yes, Obama is a doofus. He also has a very strong resemblance to Alfred E. Newman. And, by the way, I think "doofi" is probably the plural of doofus. This is needed information for this administration.

He trashes Obama's speech at MIT, too.

If any of you have an hour to spare go to Watts Up or the Reference Frame, and watch Richard Lindzen, distinguished professor of meteorology at MIT, take apart the AGW foolishness. He's quite compelling.

The cousin told Fox that Hasan wasn't a convert and had always been a Muslim.

Oh the one other thing that happened at the rally was that a French interviewer & camera guy asked if I wanted to be interviewed. I was near the back with the hoodlum smoker crowd...I declined. Don't want to be "Joe the Plumbered". Had a pretty wild decade in the 80's!

Glad to see you back Rick! You were missed.

Does anyone know if Pofarmer or Gmax know about PUK?

Interesting his fellow musicians called him Bocking. The silliest things make you tear up, don't they?

Jim Ryan

Thanks, Kim. This is what Kim's talking about.

So he's of Jordanian extraction, but a convert to Islam, was he Copt, Druze before
he switched faiths

Ann, I wonder also...has boris checked in?

Jim Ryan

Have you paid your government abortion premium this month?

antiwar statements such as "muslims should stand up"

That's not anti-war, that's advocating for exactly what he ended up doing.

Danube of Thought

I really think the Dems in congress have gone mad.

Pelosi's bill will pass Saturday (she wouldn't let them vote if she didn't have the numbers). It will pass with exactly 218 votes, after appropriate pairings to allow the most vulnerable members to vote no.

Then stand by for the chorus: "If it weren't for Owens, the bill would have failed."

How many people do you think were there. John Campbell sent a letter to his constituents that said 25k.

Yeah, I hear that bgates. The Col actually said "against our foreign policy". I was typing quickly.

Frau Reisetasche

Didn't we just hear of a jihadist internet site that has encouraged the faithful to make individual (DIY) strikes against "crusaders"? When the killings happened, I thought of it, but the radio news reported that the FBI had already determined that there were *no* terrorist connections. That's as fast and believable a conclusion as the morning-after report on Michael Kennedy's skiing accident: drugs did *not* play a role in his death. For everyone else, inlcuding Sonny Bono, such tests take several weeks.

Jim Ryan

Pelosi's bill will pass Saturday

There's a word for the freshman members of the House, such as Tom Perriello (south central Virginia) who got in last November: one-termers.

If Perriello votes for this he's finished. I hear Nancy might let him vote no so he can keep his seat. But she may keep his testicles in a lock box and if she needs the vote, he's done. We just finished off three of his ilk two days ago to the tune of 60 to 40.

I have no idea Jane. One of the men I talked with comes to all the pro-life marches (around the Roe annav. date) and he said this was a bigger crowd. How many usually come to those?
25,000 seems high though.

Old Lurker

I think DoT's right. It will pass Saturday with exactly the number needed for just the reason DoT said.

And I don't take much comfort knowing it might be tougher in the Senate. Too many Lindsey Grahams in the club.

unɹ puɐ ʇıɥ

has boris checked in?

I said the other night that I had emailed him. I think I used an old/wrong one. Found what I think is the correct one and resent.

I wouldn't swear on it, but I thought Pofarmer has posted...

I thought Pofarmer posted a couple of days ago too Hit.

I'm around, just busy. Sorry to hear about PUK.

Sorry to hear about the deal at Ft. Hood today. If I said what I felt I'd probably get a visit from the Secret Service or something.

Oh, and this health care deal makes me think about why the French invented the Guillotine.

Good to hear from you Pofarmer!

Interesting, Narciso. Do you think this is a photo">http://www.facebook.com/profile/pic.php%3Fuid%3DAAAAAQAQPPLxenPFR6nwEbTvMssRWAAAAAmeJ_6QZ44HPR84iIzXPKro&imgrefurl=http://www.facebook.com/people/Malik-Hasan/802850681&usg=__azx96hvjXR3G-ajoUC5Bk1ae3x8=&h=266&w=200&sz=15&hl=en&start=23&tbnid=_BJTH_7gnxTP6M:&tbnh=80&tbnw=60&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522malik%2Bhasan%2522%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D12%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D12">photo of him standing in front of Petra, Jordan? And yet, "Malik Hasan" is also a Pakistani name.

(The photo only appears in the Google url, not when one goes directly to the facebook url.)

Where is the research that supports the Senate bill?

It is not enough that thousands of government appointed scientists think that carbon dioxide is driving climate change. (I think they are biased.) Where is the official, Senate policy paper and research behind this legislation?

The senators who are in favor of this bill should show us the particular research that they are relying on as the basis for their bill. That means the studies and source data for believing:

  • That CO2 is warming the Earth
  • What the consequences are supposed to be, and
  • The part of that result which can be changed by our reduction of CO2 emissions.

They are proposing billions in taxes. They should be willing to spend a few million to collect and reference the basic research. This should be made public for review, so that the public can heartily agree with their proposal, or respectfully criticise it.

The Congress and Obama should proudly present and vouch for their careful research which supports their proposed rearrangement of US industry. Obama is a Harvard trained law professor. He should be up to it. The US governement has an official science advisor. Obama promised a government that would respect science, supposedly unlike his predecessor.

Where is the careful research of the Senate Democrats? They "certainly" have done it, haven't they? We should see it.

If they haven't collected the research to support their legislation, then they are playing the public as a fool.

Dispelling the Global Warming Myth

Here are some articles about the flawed science supporting Global Warming. They are clear and convincing to me. Maybe they can add to the debate, or add references for pleasant arguments with the believers.

The most recent revelation about global warming is about the tree ring data underlying past estimates of Earth's temperature going back 2,000 years. It seems that the whole warming trend is based on just 10 tree cores from Siberia! These cores have been chosen from among 200 cores, without explanation by the reporting scientist. Other studies are derived from this one.

This tree core data has been promoted in favor of global warming, despite the fact that it contradicts historical accounts and archeological data showing past warm and cold periods with greater temperature variation than in modern times.

A big red flag against global warming promoters is their refusal to release their data and methods. They publish their results and deny others the access that would allow support or criticism.

Check the link under name for the latest.

Yup, you got it, AMG.

That Lindzen presentation was terrific.

And good news in the House, next year when the Reps take over the house we won't need any Dem votes in committee to move bills.

Thanks, Barb

I hope you were a boy scout.

“those who . . . make cynical claims that contradict the overwhelming scientific evidence when it comes to climate change, whose only purpose is to defeat or delay the change that we know is necessary.”

Then, the president talked tough, saying, “We’ll just have to deal with those people,”

You might mean by "boy scout" that it is impossibly optimistic to think that the Dems have done any systematic research. Yes, I think so too.

I just want someone to ask Obama: "Did you do research, and where is it?"

I would love for him to say "No, no research", or "Yes, research, but I won't show it to you."

The bill may not be finished, but the research should be.
