Regardless of what really happened, this family has lost whatever bit of privacy they may have had.

Tiger is now the Britany Spears of golf.

Gloria

Oh, no. Say it isn't true.

PD

Who said "To whom much is given, much is expected"?

Marx? :-)

Or perhaps Luke 12:48.

bad

Gloria

Oh, no. Say it isn't true.

But she has such a LOVELY voice and PLEASANT demeanor....

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Captain: I said up thread that I wouldn't want to be Tiger when he has to face his Mamma. She will not take kindly to either his name being dragged thru the tabloids or the dishonor to his father's name, quietly, is my guess.

Captain Hate

Once Tiger made his Faustian bargain with the Nike whores, that began the celebrity process. This is what happens to Earl's master plan when Earl isn't around to manage it.

Captain Hate

Sara, I'm sure his mother is outraged by this.

bad

Captain, I didn't see your comment when I posted mine. You said it so much better.

Jane

One should never ever watch Geraldo.

Sue

Jane,

I don't.

Jane

I am, or was. Not a smart move.

National Enquirer essentially saying: Bring it on.

And Tiger is stalling because he doesn't want anyone to know what the injuries are.

Sheesh

Captain Hate

O/T Since this is at least a sports related thread, I'd like to post for daddy's consideration that this is the day in which the ACC revealed itself as a complete fraud of a football conference. I know that they like to present themselves as a basketball-centric conference, but adding the Thugocanes, Chokies, Criminoles and BC puts the lie to that crock.

Melinda Romanoff

mud wrestling, club fighting, just what is a girl to think ;~{)).

Jane, it smells like the agent is involved to do "crisis" management and not p.o. the sponsor. Might cost him some zeroes.

And I do NOT want to envision hit in the mud. Aaaaahhhh, eye bleach! Help!!

Melinda Romanoff

(I think my neck is broken from that.)

Melinda Romanoff

Ssshh...

I'm hiding in the basement from houseguests.

glenda

Sara, CH...I think his Mother is in heaven with Earl. I think she passed first iirc..

melinda...I'm going to call and tell your family you're hiding......and where to find you!!

Melinda Romanoff

Hah!

My cell phone is with me.

And is now going off, so, nice try...

And I'm off to the rack.

G'night all.

Captain Hate

I think his Mother is in heaven with Earl. I think she passed first iirc..

You might be right but the Wiki idiots don't have a death date for her fwiw....

Stephanie

Tiger's mom is alive and well and was at a tournament not too long ago.

BTW, Happy belated Thanksgiving to all.

I am now the proud upgraded owner of a new desktop as the old one finally bit the bullet. HP 8meg memory 1 terra hard drive quad core... and I'm loving it. Not loving having to reload links and files and such so much.

justonebullet

Tiger was never the best driver.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Oh my! This just gets more and more interesting:

Obama Met Gatecrashers in 2005: Salahi's ATFP Tied to Academic Radical Rashid Khalidi; Security Breach Rekindles Issue of President's Islamist Ties!

Heh! Picture and everything.

Strawman Cometh

Treacher:
The media's full of stories about a married couple who conned their way into the White House and made a mess

But when I say it...

daddy

Haven't read any of this story or thread, but I just hope this doesn't make Paul McCartney's marriage to the 1 legged chick look like Romeo and Juliette. I've always really liked Tiger.

daddy

Captain Hate,

Have been away and missed if something has happened ACC football conference-wise, but if in any way it redounds negatively to Duke I'm with you man, Count me in.

sylvia

Couple points to consider. Maybe Tiger started the physical thing. Maybe he started pushing and shoving, and she reacted by getting out the nearest golf club and giving as good as she got. I kind of wonder why more women don't do that, if they did, cases of domestic abuse would suddenly plummet.

If she did start up, I agree that Tiger was smart to run out of there. There's not much else you can do. Better than pulling a Chris Brown.

And this is just more proof that the current idea of marriage is a sham. We should start thinking about it more like a domestic partnership, less like a romantic union. The romance part, according to scientists, chemically lasts in the brain for about two years. (Although also according to research, there are "swans", about 10% of marriages that last in happiness.) The rest don't though. Time to be more realistic about it.

pagar

"Rekindles Issue of President's Islamist Ties!"

Good Link, Sara! One wonders why anyone ever doubted his Islamist ties.

Jane

Oh gawd, the "all men are rapists" contingent has arrived.

~~

From Sara's link:

Tareq Salahi is a former member of the board at the American Task Force on Palestian, the "moderate" rights groups pushing a thinly-veiled program of Palestinian nationalism and the "right of return" (the backdoor destruction of Israel). See, "Tareq Salahi, Gate-Crasher at White House State Dinner, Tied to ATFP, America-Bashing Palestinian Group Calling for Power-Sharing With Hamas!"

Captain Hate

And this is just more proof that the current idea of marriage is a sham.

By all means, tell Sully et al that they're pursuing a sham; that should work well....

sylvia

Well looks like I might be on to something because I hear the police might be charging Tiger with a crime. So he must have done something. If she did all the hitting, she'd be the one charged.

I suspect it was a chain reaction. Maybe she slapped him. Then it escalated and he punched her. Then she got out the clubs and ran him off. They both used force, but since Tiger was the first one to use serious force, he would be charged.

Jane

Wow, an expert on domestic violence, escalation, rape and Duke Lacrosse in our midst. Not to mention clairvoyent. How lucky are we!

PD

sylvia, my idea of marriage is that it's a covenant contracted before God, to last until death, as a partnership in which both parties are committed to the relationship come what may (you know, "for better or for worse").

What were you saying about "romantic union"? Of course there is love involved, and pretty strongly, too, but is love = romance?

MayBee

Does anybody *know* where Tiger was the night that poor girl got raped at Duke?

sylvia

PD, it seems fidelity is not a skill that most humans possess. Might as well stop pretending that it does. When we do stop, these stories will stop being so interesting to us.

sylvia

And speaking of Duke, that is another example of groupthink. The story the accuser told and what was reported through defense lawyers leaks were very different. And the public bought the defense lawyer spin without waiting for the full story.

In fact, from what I read, the accuser was the only party to give an accurate timeline of what happened that night. Both the other stripper and the frat boys got it wrong somehow. So based on that, who was the most credible?

PD

PD, it seems fidelity is not a skill that most humans possess. Might as well stop pretending that it does.

That's right, let's just drop all pretense of having a standard to aspire to, just because human nature is imperfect and we cannot always achieve said standard.

That's the surest road to the gutter that I know of. Of course, since by then we'll have abandoned standards, we won't care that that is where we are.

PD

By the way, sylvia, when you enter into a "courting" relationship (to use a quaint term), do you typically say this: "Fidelity is not a skill most persons possess, and you shouldn't pretend that I possess it. So don't have any expectations of it on my part."

clarice

Actually, Sylvia, since it appears the Tiger's wife was the violent one, she might be arrested. Only Tiger's refusal to talk is keeping her from being arrested right now.

pagar

As I remember it, the public had the full story for a long time, before the State of NC put an end to the fraud promoted by the DA and his enablers in the Duke case.

Jane

Clarice,

Are you back in DC? I hope your Thanksgiving was spectacular.

I just spent the day learning how to make string cheese. It was/is fab!

sylvia

"That's right, let's just drop all pretense of having a standard to aspire to"

Well hypocrisy is also not a good thing, and if we accept the facts, we'll have less of it.

PD

Woods on crash: 'This situation is my fault'

No real details, though, and it sounds like they won't be forthcoming.

clarice

It was spectacular, Jane.. Just fabulous. And I am home.

Jane

I'm so glad Clarice. Nothing like grandchildren to show you the light!`
