OT I am so glad you are back and all right. I seldom post here but read every day. Wonderful conversations--the reason I hesitate to post is because everyone seems to be a family and they do not suffer fools gladly ie trolls and people like me--am not a troll but am definitely "not in the family" of commenters.

Soylent Red

Welcome back TM. Better get yourself healthy and in shape to endure life (albeit abridged) under Obamacare.

Michele Malkin just tweeted that Mike Pence has posted a sign in his window that the Dems don't have the votes.

Jack is Back!

Never stopped me. I am infrequent but the crowd here is tough but fair. Being in the "right" frame of mind seems to help:)

If Stupak is listening to the bishops he will not accept any deal that it is not memorialized in passed and signed legislation. He has come this far and I just can't see him all of a sudden going conformist on this. What has he achieved without specific law? Zilch, nada, nil.

--everyone seems to be a family and they do not suffer fools gladly ie trolls and people like me--am not a troll but am definitely "not in the family" of commenters.--

They don't suffer foolish trolls but garden variety fools like me are well tolerated here. Jump in, as long as you're not a troll, you're family.

Danube of Thought

I'd bet the ranch that Stupak is about to end the preening and make himself a hero to Dems everywhere (except, of course, the pro-lifers whom he will betray). God do I pray that I am wrong.

The fix is in.

Same here. I enjoy coming here everyday. Thanks.

am not a troll but am definitely "not in the family" of commenters.

Gee, I'd hate to think that's the vibe we send out. We clearly are a family and we like it when it grows.

Sue says Obama Sucks

There are 8 or 9 pro-lifers who will be with Stupak at 4:00. He's gotten his fig leaf. I hate it when I predict something and it turns out right. It isn't supposed to happen that way.

Anyone know what the mechanism for this is?

DON STEWART, McCONNELL SPOKESMAN: “Republicans have been trying to set up a meeting with Senate Democrats since yesterday to discuss this fatal point of order but have been met with nothing but silence. We suspect Democrats are slow walking us so as to have the House vote first. Since Senate Democrats refuse to meet with us and the Parliamentarian, we’ve informed our colleagues in the House that we believe the bill they’re now considering violates the clear language of Section 310g of the Congressional Budget Act, and the entire reconciliation bill is subject to a point of order and rejection in the Senate should it pass the House.”

hit and run

He won't say anything, but I have it on good authority that TM left the hosptial without his tonsils.

I'm just saying.

Danube of Thought

Here it is:

The White House and anti-abortion Democrats have reached an agreement to defusethe controversy over abortion in the health reform bill – planning a series of steps that will secure the support of Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) and other Democrats to give party leaders the votes they need to pass reform, sources tell POLITICO.

Under the agreement, President Barack Obama would sign an executive order ensuring that no federal funding will go to pay for abortion under the health reform plans. In addition, Stupak will get to state his concerns about abortion funding in the bill during a colloquy on the House floor during the debate.

And then, Stupak and several other Democratic hold-outs over abortion will sign on to the bill, the sources said…

Rep. Alan Mollohan, who is one of the votes in question, told POLITICO that the language in the agreement has already been essentially cleared. Mollohan said it is only a matter of time for “the follow-through steps” to be implemented.

Golly, Bart, what a hero you are! Your "colloquy" is sure to go down with Lincoln's Second Inaugural...

You low-life spineless bastard.

centralcal says Obama Sucks bigtime

Hey, bolitha, just about everybody here was adopted into the family.

What can Obama have given Stupak? Oh, never mind. What a fraud!

Call it what it is: Universal Death Care.

The do-gooder intention in The Party of Death is to manage Death Care for those Unwanted, Elderly and Sick.

"This is what the truth is...If you are very old, we're not going to give you all of that technology and all of those keep you alive. It's too expensive, so we're going to let you die...(We're) going to use the bargaining leverage of the federal force drug companies and insurance companies and medical suppliers to reduce their costs. That means less innovation, and that means less new products and less new drugs on the market, which means you are probably not going to live that much longer than your parents." (Robert Reich-2007)"

Lastly; there is no such thing as pro-life when you are voting for the Democrat's Party of Death.

Sue says Obama Sucks

am not a troll but am definitely "not in the family" of commenters.

We're just loud and unruly. Shove yourself on in here and make your point of view known. We love new people around here.

Sue says Obama Sucks

Protect the sanctity of life? Or Obama's presidency? FU Stupak.

Porchlight says Obama sucks

Y'all are all in the family as far as I'm concerned!

Porchlight says Obama sucks

The truly idiotic thing is that you know Barry is thinking all the time what a total sucker Stupak is for falling for this EO BS.

Unless there's a possibility of pushback from the pro-choicers? I doubt it at this point but you never know.

Sue says Obama Sucks

We effin do this every single time. We fall for the pro-life democrat going to stop something. If nothing else, we now know for sure they can be bought.

Danube of Thought

He didn't even get his thirty pieces of silver--he got two or three at most.

A nickel-and-dime Judas. It all makes me puke.

This Slaughter woman is a HUGE bore. I hope she gets impeached. And I'm getting pretty sick of those idiots lying about people yelling at them. The whole Tea party was video-taped. Show the video or STFU

I'll add: Bart Stupak- voting YES for the Universal Death Care plan formulated by the Party of Death-has just proven Catholics LIE when they say they are about protecting the Sanctity of Life.

The Death Cult joined the Party of Death.

May God have Mercy on us all.

Sue says Obama Sucks

Stupak hopes his life can go back to normal? I say give it to him. Vote the SOB out!

hit and run

Stupak last point of negotiation with the WH was to ensure that ObamaCare would cover treatment for a broken arm injured while patting yourself on the back.

The biggest winners in this bill? Might just be the health insurers.

OL hates them and they ALL suck

Diogenes can move his lamp off Stupak now and keep looking for that honest man somewhere else. This egocentric fraud has had his moment and was as predictable as the "conservative" Blue Dogs.

Glad you're OK, TM. That could have been nasty.

Welcome, Bolitha. Really! You too, Zanne.

MaryAnne says Obama sucks even though MaryAnne yells at her grown children when they say the word suck.

What a horror that the person on whom we relied to be there for the unborn chose to be the hero to those who would leave an aborted child in a closet to die. I don't think this day could be any worse and I'm never ever going to get past Stupak's deceit and dishonesty. HE IS A LOATHSOME HUMAN BEING. Welcome Bolitha. This crowd is awesome, smart, funny and better than therapy!!!

bio mom

I hate to say I told you so. I am heartsick also. He KNOWS the EO is a sham. So much for his great pro-life principles. He will burn in hell. Sorry guys, but that is the truth. I don't believe he was hoodwinked by Obama. He is a politician and cooperated with all of this. But you cannot fool God. If we keep killing babies in this country, He will turn his back on us as it appears he is doing.

TM: I'm so glad you are OK!
Notice Marcy Kaptur trying to cover her rear end by talking after Stupak. We all know she was a yes vote before the pact with the devil Obama. She is history in November.Toledo Ohio is not that liberal! Stupak Sucks!!!

hit and run

Actual quote.

Slaughter: "The fact of the matter is, is we cannot afford to do this legislation."

She was reading from prepared text,so don't blame the teleprompter.

Still haven't figured out why pro-life people still actually think they can trust any Democrat that claims they are pro-life??

Why do you vote for these people?

They supported a President who actively spoke out for and voted for actual can you believe Stupak ever had any actual deep moral belief, that wasn't just a political calculation to get elected.

Well let us hope Stupak's compassion isn't corrupted, and he remains as humane about the sanctity of life as the Scottish Government was when they humanly released the murderous Lockerbie Bomber 7 months ago, so he could peacefully spend his final 3 months dying amongst loved ones in Libya.

">"> Corrupted compassion: Freed to die at home, Pan Am bomber is living large

Sue says Obama Sucks

I can't wait for this PoS to say he really thought he had a deal.

centralcal says all Democrats suck

Will the pro-choice cadre who wants the government to pay for abortion throw a hissy fit over the EO?

Porchlight says Obama sucks

Looking it over, you are right, bio mom. Stupak isn't being suckered, he knows exactly what he's doing. That backslapping with Hoyer says it all.

Will the pro-choice cadre who wants the government to pay for abortion throw a hissy fit over the EO?

No, because they know it is just a scam to accomplish an end. Obama's words are worthless.

MaryAnne says Obama sucks even though MaryAnne yells at her grown children when they say the word suck.

I can't watch those dirtbags. The dems were down by two votes and this group could have stopped Obamacrap. Kaptur sold out already so what a joke that she is now pretending that this agreement decided her vote. Stupak will never live this down and will always be known as the scumbag who put Pelosi and Obama over the top for this bill. Now you'll see the "undecideds" from red districts be released to vote no - so don't fall for that either. ALL OF THE DEMS NEED TO GO IN NOVEMBER. NOW THE FIGHT BEGINS.

m Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet sez Obama and all who vote for this HCR abortion suck |

Cross posted on other thread, but I'm just catching up.

It's over. As we all know, an EO can be rescinded at any time, and unless implemented by Regulations and enforced by the Dem administration is virtually worthless. Stupak's got to know that. He put his trust in Teh Once instead of the Lord. Betrayed his church for a mess of pottage.

Nancy can take that big gavel and shove it where the sun don't shine AFAIC.

Danube of Thought

I wised up to this fraud's act a long time ago. How many pro-lifers will be fooled by this?

Just a pipe dream, but I'd love to see the entire GOP caucus get up and walk out when he starts talking.

Sue says Obama Sucks

No, they already gave their blessing to it. Which tells you all you need to know about the EO.

Porchlight says Obama sucks

Drudge has this in red:

Update on the previous headline about Repubs finding a procedural glitch on reconciliation. Link doesn't work b/c of the deluge though.

I also noticed on C-SPAN that they are now planning to vote on the House bill before voting on the reconciliation bill. That's a switch from yesterday. I wonder why.

McGovern is such a liar. MA is going bankrupt. Let's talk about his correspondence with the FARC terrorists.

Put him on Romneycare and then top it off with Obama care.

"Still haven't figured out why pro-life people still actually think they can trust any Democrat that claims they are pro-life??"

They vote that way because every time they sell their soul to The Party of Death's dark side all that Government Silver relieves their lust, greed, gluttony and envy.

I'd ask God for mercy however The Party of Death is killing God.

We've been played all week long by Stupak and the dems. He never intended to vote against this bill, IMHO. As with the proposed Slaughter Rule, it was all a ruse so that Pelosi, et al could have the time to sort out which representatives could "safely" vote yes.

What a learning experience. The actions of the past week will imprinted on our minds (and lives) forever. No longer will ANYONE be believed who waffles and minces words. Stupak bought himself a whole bunch of face time. He's now a household word. The only cost was the Constitution.

It's time to take it to the streets!

"will BE imprinted..."

Sue says Obama Sucks

Did Sanchez finally show up?

Stupak and the others should have a least driven up to the White House and had Obama put the 30 pieces of silver directly in their hands.

Patrick R. Sullivan

Douglas Holtz-Eakin brutalizes the CBO scoring:

In other words, a bill that would set up two new entitlement spending programs — health insurance subsidies and long-term health care benefits — would actually improve the nation’s bottom line.

Could this really be true? How can the [CBO] give a green light to a bill that commits the federal government to spending nearly $1 trillion more over the next 10 years?

The answer, unfortunately, is that the budget office is required to take written legislation at face value and not second-guess the plausibility of what it is handed. So fantasy in, fantasy out.

In reality, if you strip out all the gimmicks and budgetary games and rework the calculus, a wholly different picture emerges: The health care reform legislation would raise, not lower, federal deficits, by $562 billion.

Sue says Obama Sucks

Barf. Mr. Whiney himself that was almost in tears yesterday. Dennis Cardoza. Had to hit the mute.

MaryAnne says Obama sucks even though MaryAnne yells at her grown children when they say the word suck.

The word traitor originates with Judas' handing over of Jesus to the Roman authorities: the word is derived from the Latin traditorem which means "one who delivers." (from Wiki) Stupak and his craven cadre just delivered the bill to Obama so I think Stupak's name will go down in history as the Judas of Easter 2010. And in Dante's Inferno, the traitor burns in the lowest circle of hell. See ya Stupak!!!

Sue says Obama Sucks

If Pelosi is still the speaker after the November elections, I swear there is no justice anymore.

The Republicans should intoduce THE HEALTHCARE CHOICE BILL.

Democrats love choice. This bill would modify the Obamacare bill to insert the language, ..."the citizen shall have the CHOICE" to buy health insurance, to buy just a catastrophic package, to choose their heathcare plans, etc. etc.

This would replace the 2,000 instances where the Obamacare bill says " The Secretary of HHS shall..."

MaryAnne says Obama sucks even though MaryAnne yells at her grown children when they say the word suck.

Pelosi will be gone and so will the dirty dems. Well, I'm taking my potty mouth and hateful thoughts off to church. I'll pray for each of you and for our country.

As I read the executive order all it essentially says is that Barry will make sure the terms of "The Act" are complied with. If "The Act" is the Senate bill then Stupidpak didn't even get his 30 pieces of silver.
Since the Senate would still have to pass anything other than its own bill hard to see how the Senate Bill isn't "The Act".

I love all the Democrats demonizing the insurance companies...

While the bill they are voting for hands the insurance companies 335 BILLION in tax dollars and 20 some million forced customers.

- ...which should put reform over the top...

And of course a big part of the reason will be that so many people kept mindlessly parroting the Democrats' terminology ("reform") instead of calling this shit sandwich what it was, is and always will be: socialized medicine.

So they are forcing the house to vote on the Senate bill first and when the rules committee says reconciliation does not pass the rules then they democrats will blame it on the republicans and get the Senate bill. Obama is off the hook for the EO.

Sue says Obama Sucks

If Rep. Stupak and his fellow pro-life Democrats were not satisfied with the protections against taxpayer funding of abortion in the Senate bill (as they rightly were not), there is simply nothing in the text of the order that should change their minds.

Pager linked this">">this story, showing the WWF's scam to get 60 Billion for Carbon Credits.

But he left out this one from the BBC, where we learn ">"> Lord Stern is a member of the group set up by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to advise on how to raise $100bn (£66bn) per year by 2020 using various "innovative mechanisms" that could include taxes on international aviation and banking transactions.

So in the big scheme of UN fraud, ($100 Billion per year for doing nothing), the WWF's one time robbery scheme of $60 Billion for doing nothing is actually petty theft.

I am about as surprised by Stupak's actions as I was when Joe Lieberman, the "conscience of the senate" voted against conviction in the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton

I thought Stupak was smarter than this. Stupid Stupak. True Catholics with target him with passion.

Jack is Back!

P.T. Barnum strikes again: A Sucker is born every minute. And at 4:00pm EDST Mr. Bart Stupak became the poster child for the circus.

As a practicing Catholic, I am disappointed in his dishonesty and his naivete to believe that this particular POTUS and Congress really have any care about the unborn. Political expediency delivers another Obamanation of legislation leading us further down the path to either a "people's revolution" or lemmings off the marxist-socialist cliff.

Actually, I am thinking seriously about opening up a Mayo Clinic franchise in Costa Rica. May have only one client but he's Rush:)

Executive Order Hijinks [Andy McCarthy]
I know we tire of the hypocrisy, but I really think this is remarkable. We spent the eight years through January 19, 2009, listening to Democrats complain that President Bush had purportedly caused a constitutional crisis by issuing signing statements when he signed bills into law. Democrats and Arlen Specter (now a Democrat) complained that these unenforceable, non-binding expressions of the executive's interpretation of the laws Bush was signing were a usurpation Congress's power to enact legislation.

But now Democrats are going to abide not a mere signing statement but an executive order that purports to have the effect of legislation — in fact, has the effect of nullifying legislation that Congress is simultaneously enacting?

JM Hanes

I'm for limited choice myself, but bravo to Rep. Broun for laying it on the line: No one who votes for this bill can evercall himself pro-life again.

Stupak on Gretta:

He just said, "This is a good piece of Legislation..."

I don't know why all of ya'lls knickers are in a bunch today. There is no more public option. Ya'll should be celebrating! You got the main thing you wanted. So the Dems get a few bones. So chill. You have to learn how to play nice you know, and share. You can't always get everything you want!

JM Hanes

Interesting Republican tactic on the parade of unanimous consent to revise and extend.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet sez all politicians suck

The big bad health insurance companies will become even more bureaucratized than they are now. How else to comply with all of the endless regulations that Kathleen and her minions will gleefully promulgate as authorized by the bill.

JM Hanes

I claim David Dreier. Would have done it years ago, if I'd thought of it.

Billy Le Pew

Stupak on Gretta:

He just said, "This is a good piece of Legislation..."

"Legislation" is French for "merde"

I loved the guy who just said he agreed with people - the guy in MA going bankrupt who has this plan already - and more.

She doesnt have health insurance but look! 30 days at teh Cleveland clinic! FREE!

The downward spiral of democracy into communism/fascism is so boring. A more interesting script would be:

Stupak and his group vote NO at the last minute, then hold a press conference exposing Pelosi and her lemmings for:

1) Attempted threats and intimidation
2) Being in the pay of insurance/pharma.

When I was in the service, lifers and families of lifers were apauled when I said I was getting out after four years. They were so well adapted to life in a paternalistic dictatorial society which provided to their wants and needs, the prospect of life outside frightened them.

I suspect Obama and his allies assume once this and other legislation is passed the protests will fade and we will adapt to the new order. I think they are wrong, but I'm not sure. Cattle and dogs seem happy.

I won't bother to clip and paste or LUN. I would just urge you to go over to the NRO
Corner, and read what Mark Steyn just posted. It sums up the turn our nation has just taken. American exceptionalism has just died.

Sue says Obama Sucks

I don't understand how passing this will keep anyone from going bankrupt if they get sick. Is this bill going to provide a home, car, food, utilities to the person who is sick?

He didn't even get his thirty pieces of silver

Evidently he named and got his price--cheap as it is.

Don't remember if I posted this quote before but used it on twitter:

A million seconds ago was 12 days ago. A trillion seconds ago was 68,000 YEARS ago! Hello $1.5 trillion HC bill.....

Watch it and weep--Stupak admitted LAST YEAR his HC bill Vote would trump his pro-life position if it came right down to the wire:

There are no words to what this @!@$!$ #W &&^$, that cursing in Spanish with asterisks
has enabled to do this country

Sue says Obama Sucks

God, Steyn is cheery today. About as cheery as I am.

Thomas Collins

Stupak obviously thinks his constituents and other American are stupid. I think he will find in November of 2010 that Americans understand the Stupak Sellout for what it is.

I hope whatever side deal you got was worth it to you, Stupak.

We don't get Stupaked again
Don't get Stupaked again

I just made syliva just disappear. Sensible discussions are welcome to continue.

Sue says Obama Sucks

I'm trying to wrap my head around how someone born and raised in the United States is happy that the government is going to take over our lives.

My thoughts--Senate bill WILL be law. Executive order is just that. Can be rescinded by BO ANYTIME he wants! And I wonder why has no one asked why there needs to be an Executive Order for abortion if abortion funding is not in the bill? Just asking.

The Dems who once shrieked that Nixon was creating a Fascist state with those ridiculous operetta uniforms for the White House guards are yawning as they create a new Gestapo within the IRS to enforce the unconstitutional insurance mandate against the American people. Just wonderful.

RB says BOzo Sux

You can now contribute to Stupak's opponent via mail - address here.

Best of luck, Dr. Benishek. Glad to help out.

RB says BOzo Sux

Ripping all funding for this garbage out of next years budget has to be a top priority. I hope they start with cutting the IRS past the bone.

Line item veto already ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Obama's EO attempts to nullify portions of the law. Therefore the EO is unconstitutional.

Either it gets rescinded, or we've now allowed the constitution to be ignored.

Sue says Obama Sucks

Yuval Levin, over at The Corner, explains.

The executive order quite literally does nothing that the Senate bill does not already do, and it is careful to say as much.

He won't rescind it because it is meaningless. It merely repeats the language in the Senate bill.

Apparently the second amendment only serves to control the errant ungulates of North America.

As of today our wallets are controlled by the Democrats. We are nothing more than their bitches and property rights no longer exist.

--He won't rescind it because it is meaningless. It merely repeats the language in the Senate bill.--

So just what exactly was Stupidak agonozing over all these days? Apparently nothing.
His "living hell" was entirely self imposed and apparently illusory since he was willing to agree to the Senate bill all along.
Borderline nutty, besides being without principle.

Heh, I wasn't moving to Alaska as any kind of Bircher or militia type, but I'm feeling more and more comfortable with my decision as time passes.

Barack Obama will sign an executive order stating, essentially, that the law will follow the law. Ezra Klein
Daily Kos…

What’s particularly galling here is that the executive order reiterates the Senate bill, which Stupak could have accepted weeks ago. Kos (or a commenter, can't tell)

Stupak has played us all for fools.
