These Progressives are failing to see that this is all anti-government stuff.

Anybody know what his emotional connection to the Marine was?

Also, was Bedell also wearing an armored vest? I've seen a hint that he died of a head injury.

Sue

I blame Charlie Sheen.

Porchlight

Bedell hated Bush
Bedell was against the Iraq War
Bedell was a truther
Bedell must be a righty

Rosie O'Donnell hates Bush
Rosie O'Donnell is against the Iraq War
Rosie O'Donnell is a truther

Is Rosie O'Donnell a righty, too?

Pofarmer

Took a look at railfax. Auto shipments look to be "turning over". I don't have enough information to know if this is just seasonal movement or not.

Obviously you need a refresher course in deductive reasoning. Let me walk you through it:

Bedell hated Bush
Bedell was against the Iraq War
Bedell was a truther
Rosie O'Donnell hates Bush
Rosie O'Donnell is against the Iraq War
Rosie O'Donnell is a truther
Bedell was a lesbian.

Ignatz

Can't wait to buy the Sunday Times to read Frank Rich's column on how Barry and the nefarious "coffee party" are sparking unrelenting violence by people like that lefty broad denied tenure down in Georgia and this typical Dem voter.

Sue

It isn't satire.

PD

Naturally, this means the gunman is a Tea Bagger. Why? Well, an utter absence of evidence can't be a bar to leaping to the target conclusion, now can it?

We can take our cue from Tapper's blog here. There are posters there that regularly remind us that only right-wingers are prone to this type of violence. So the sequence of reasoning goes like this:

Incorrect approach: Rationally look at the guy's ideology (truther, Bush-hater) to determine what he is (a leftist) and then draw the logical conclusion that leftists, just like anyone else, are capable of engaging in this kind of violence.

Correct approach: Beginning with the preconceived notion that only right-wingers engage in this kind of violence, conclude that this guy must therefore be a rightwinger, regardless of his actual ideology.

It's very simple.

Neo

Speaking of alternate realities ...

Climate scientists plot to fight back at skeptics

Undaunted by a rash of scandals over the science underpinning climate change, top climate researchers are plotting to respond with what one scientist involved said needs to be "an outlandishly aggressively partisan approach" to gut the credibility of skeptics.

In private e-mails obtained by The Washington Times, climate scientists at the National Academy of Sciences say they are tired of "being treated like political pawns" and need to fight back in kind. Their strategy includes forming a nonprofit group to organize researchers and use their donations to challenge critics by running a back-page ad in the New York Times.

Isn't putting something in the New York Times like preaching to the choir ?

PD

"being treated like political pawns"

They'd rather be higher in the political hierarchy, in other words. Not that they'd rather be nonpolitical.

Neo

Ace responds ...

recall with me that Paul Ehrlich is one of the most discredited pseudo-scientific alarmists of all time. In 1968 he predicted that population growth would exceed the resources available on the planet, resulting in decades of famine and disease. He conned universities and governments into thinking that hundreds of millions of people would die by the 1980s.
With friends like this, who needs enemies.

So she gets smashed in comments.

Neo, that's the talk of the climate blogosphere this AM with Anthony Watts and Tom Fuller already posting on it. In a comment at Watts Up, Judy Curry, a climatologist who is attempting to referee the cage match, touts Schneider and mentions Post-Normal Science.
====================

Anthony has over three hundred comments in a few hours.

Heh, Neo; looks like I'm not telling you anything you didn't know already.

Sue,

That article says he was mad at something that happened in 1991 - when Clinton was president. He took action in 2010 when Obama is president. He's mad at the government so it's all Bush's fault.

bgates

Thanks for that link, Sue. The CSM has a "contact author" link, which I used to complain. (Politely - as I said in my complaint, the Bedell case shows that it's a bad idea to upset leftists like the journalist who wrote that hit piece, since you never know when they might snap and murder somebody.)

I was being snarky this morning, but apparently not enough for bb, are they really this blind

Thanks, Sue. Registered Dem, whoda thunk it.

Can't wait for bunkerbuster to get back to us about the "wingnutty terror" turning out to be not so wingnutty.

Stephanie

He didn't vote for Obama, so how crazy could he have been?

Just laying out the framework for the prosecution against an insanity defense if he had lived...

Porchlight

True, Stephanie. Maybe he morphed into a non-voting wingnut since 2005.

Stephanie

" Maybe he morphed into a non-voting wingnut since 2005."

Won't wash... Wingnuts are racists doncha know, and he would have certainly turned out to vote against the "Magic Negro."

Michael

He was a typical Conservative spectrum nut who had a myriad of grievances with the government.

This is the effect of the type of irresponsible rhetoric that Conservative, anti-government types spew.

Marxists don't go around protesting their tax rates. But I don't believe that any of you believe the man was remotely a Liberal. You're just don't like the heat that comes with his actions, when he basically spoke your party line.

Many of you preach the same hatred towards the government on here that he did.

Many Teabggers, and most Libertarians are anti-Bush, and anti-GOP. They're certainly anti-government. So, him being anti-Bush means nothing in that regard. It certainly doesn't make him a Liberal. Most people are disgusted by Bush.

Libertarians were actively anti-Bush.

Unless of course, Teabaggers are now supporting the Bush presidency. That would be a new development.

So keep trying to fit a square peg in the round hold. It only reinforces the idea that you guys are off your rockers, and will delude yourselves just to sleep at night.

The man had all the hallmarks of a Teabgger type personality. He possessed poor judgment, and life ruled by fear.

Pathetic.

Jane

Oh dear. Poor Michael is off his rocker. I guess that is what 8 years of BDS does to you.

BTW the latest liberal talking point is that the republicans say mean things. ANd they should be ashamed. Because the left never had a mean word to say about President Bush.

Jack is Back!

Now here is a tea party activist on the campaign trail. LUN

Politics of the prop.

Stephanie

"Many Teabggers, and most Libertarians are anti-Bush, and anti-GOP. They're certainly anti-government. So, him being anti-Bush means nothing in that regard. It certainly doesn't make him a Liberal. Most people are disgusted by Bush."

That certainly puts a fine point on who is putting up all those "miss me yet" billboards doesn't it?

It's the progressives!

Rob Crawford

Most people are disgusted by Bush.

Not if the woman is clean and well-groomed otherwise.

Rob Crawford

Oh, BTW, Michael -- ESAD. We know the modern "Progressives" are desperate to manufacture an excuse to oppress their opposition, and will latch onto any pretense to do so. We're onto your game, and aren't buying it.

Now... *plonk*

bgates

It's the progressives!

Makes sense. They're the ones who won't stop talking about the guy, and justifying Obama's actions by saying he's just doing what Bush did.

EBJ

"You're just don't like the heat that comes with his actions, when he basically spoke your party line"

The right's party line includes attacking the Pentagon? Have we come full circle where warmongerers are now anti-war? Or is someone tripping?

Rob Crawford

Or is someone tripping?

Someone's tripping on power lust.

It ain't us.

Rob Crawford

Oh, another thing:

The Tea Partiers aren't anti-government. They're anti wasteful, corrupt government. They're anti a too-powerful, too-intrusive government.

Anyone incapable of making the distinction has severe cognitive problems, and should probably spend time away from the Internet, reading, say, the Federalist Papers, and the Declaration of Independence.

pagar

"Their strategy includes forming a nonprofit group to organize researchers" IMO, these fraudster have already been organized by a non profit group--the US government.

"Relying on her previous work, Joanne notes that the US government spent $79 billion on climate research and technology since 1989. Some of that funding paid for things like satellites and studies, but it's 3,500 times as much as anything offered to sceptics, she Says."

$79 billion spent by the US government promoting AGW Fraud.

Pofarmer

At first, I read Michaels post as satire. Upon a second read, I see that's not the case? Maybe? It's hard to tell sometimes.

Stephanie

Po, satire isn't usually served with a heaping helping of smug...

Sue

Po,

It is the dems talking point and Michael has it down well. You can find it everywhere today. Had to get it out fast. I can't wait until his parents, who tried to notify officials their son was off his rocker, explain he wasn't that into tea parties.

Jane

It's the progressives!

Why didn't I think of that!

Ignatz

--PARTY Democrat--

But we all know, being a Democrat means never having to say you're sorry.
Ask Michael.

Jim Ryan

Michael, post more often. I love to observe your spasms of twee rage.

Is that Maddow's show I hear in the background? No, wait, it's Olbermann.

pagar

O/T, but I'm looking for a big calculator type person.

"The association says the U.S. welcomed 2.4 million fewer overseas visitors last year than in 2000. And that, the group says, has cost it an estimated $509 billion in total spending and $32 billion in direct tax receipts."

Using those figures how much did each visitor to the US Spend?

"
Obama signs bill to entice foreign travelers to US"

My calculator simply does not do well with billions.

Jim Ryan

$212,083/visitor ($509B/2.4M)

Rob Crawford

$212,083/visitor ($509B/2.4M)

Wow. They all go to Disney World?

MikeS

Jeez! I come back from lunch to find liberals disowning each other. A couple years from now they'll be saying Obama was a lousy president 'cuz he was too conservative.

pagar

Thanks, guys, I read the figure in the comments and thought that it was outlandish.
Just another bit of Obama Administration propaganda that is unbelievable.

Stephanie

Don't forget that those same visitors will also be hit with a new $10 visitor fee per arrival. That tidbit was also signed into law (quietly) the same day as the very public "Welcome to the Banana Republic" bill that they are touting.

Hey! As a Disney fanatic (going again in June), I should cheer the news about fewer visitors.

With shorter lines Fastpass should no longer be necessary, right? OTOH, It could also explain the $75 ticket price (daily) and $13 hot dogs...

Janet

June?

*shudder*

I love WDW -- was there twice last year, have gone at least ten times since 2000 -- but June is too crowded for me. Heck, October's getting too crowded for me.

Rob Crawford

Gotta love the obligatory nutjob "explaining" that anti-war types are violent because of government infiltration.

No, they're violent because they're on the other side.

Stephanie

Leaving on the 31st of May return June 4.... before most of the chilluns have been released.

Went same time last year... wasn't bad

Rob Crawford

Yeah, that's early enough it'll probably be OK.

One trip last year -- the timing dictated by my niece's work schedule -- was on Easter week. There were multiple days that week when the parks stopped admitting people.

Stephanie

Easter week aka K-12 spring break... Aieee!

Lines are 3 hours for the E-ticket rides. Only time worse is Christmas week and New Years, which I've done. We went for a New Years Baseball tournament.

We've been to Orlando for spring break. We stayed there to avoid the jocks and sluts at the beach locales like Daytona and Ft. Lauderdale. We stayed on I Drive and used the trip to get a head start on our tans at the hotel pool. Never went near a theme park.

Last year the week we chose coincided with the worst rain and flooding in Daytona and Orlando without a hurricane. It didn't really rain that much while we were there, but the golf course was so wet from previous weeks, the ball skipped on the fairways like it was a stone skipping across a lake.

This year we hope that won't be a problem. :fingerscrossed:

"Marijuana is a gateway drug to libertarianism"

Actually it's Man-Children perpetually living at home with Mommy and Daddy which is the gateway to libertarianism.

Smoking the refer is how the Man-Children Libertarians remain too hapless to leave the comfy of Mommy and Daddy.

One other note; pot is the only way Man-Children Libertarians can have their porn and porn is the only way the Man-Children Libertarians can have sex since the Man-Children are still living home with Mommy and Daddy.

I think syn got into Michael's stash. Are they spraying paraquat in Mexico again?
