The Times previews a magazine article on Mariano Rivera, and includes this very cool video comparing his cutter and fastball.
However, I deplore this sort of gutless, faux-objective reporting:
...Mariano Rivera, the New York Yankees star who is widely considered the greatest relief pitcher in the history of baseball...
"Widely considered"? C'mon, make the call!
FLASHBACK: Can we have a pic? The greatest game ever to be utterly overtaken by events, to wit, the Yankees losing that Series and the Red Sox winning the next one.
HISTORY REPEATS: How could the Times discuss great Yankee relievers and overlook Sparky Lyle, the one-pitch wonder who went, as Graig Nettles quipped, from Cy Young to Sayonara when the Yankees signed Goose Gossage?
I have erased 2004 from my memory completely. When the Yankees played the Dodgers this past weekend, I saw someone in the Dodgers dugout, an older chap, who looked somewhat familiar. Not sure who he was, but he was drinking green tea.

Rivera's dominance over a decade and a half clearly establishes him as the numero uno reliever of all time. However, if I could have any closer at the top of his game and I needed a six out save for a win that was needed to save the universe, Radatz is my man.

I would imagine the image of Schilling's bloody sock is seared into the memory of every Yankess fan. The only exception would be those Yankees fans who had to undergo electro-shock treatment after the collosal collapse of the Yankees led to chronic depression.

Dave I'll be in Barnstable for the Fourth, proudly wearing my Yankee hat.

Dave(in MA), I loved the Monster (may he rest in peace) not only on the mound, but also on talk radio. No BS with the Monster, and he had a great sense of humor.
