I wonder if rehab wasn't to wean him off more than sex. Perhaps a few substances were helping him through his game before? Something from the doctor in Canada...?
Just another phony big headed athlete with no control over his zipper. When he gets caught with a gun at a night club we will know he has arrived at the inner circle.
My wife just told me that he hasn't experienced a net loss of income as a result of lost endorsements. (She says she saw this on a gossip site). Me: what, is he getting endorsements from strip clubs and condom manufacturers?
Tiger should be on suicide watch. He has truly lost his life. He wanted to be and was at the door of being the most respected and greatest golfer of all time. He can never be the most respected because golf is more influenced by the spirit of Cotton Mather than Jay-Z. If he is not yet in the grip of despair (not merely depression but mourning) he will have to confront that loss and it is heavy.
Meanwhile, back at the course, he has been advancing his skill with HGH for years. Maybe other things as well, but we know from Clemens and other players who use sticks to move balls, that HGH makes a real difference.
Maybe he can be great without the HGH, but that loss has also impacted his confidence in his game, his decision making and his life. I imagine his dad really does appear to him in dreams and will haunt him forever.
His travails, along the lines of excellent tawdriness devised and taught by Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley (as a recent iteration) is interesting for far more than the Wilt Chamberlain aspects. Hell, Gore and Obama's girlfriends are more interesting than Tiger as an accountant of distant and meaningless sex.
My dad was a Golf Professional for 55 years of his life and was OLD SCHOOL (thought people should be given a test on Rule 1 - Etiquette prior to being allowed on the course). I am glad he passed away before the Tiger Woods Sex Debacle occurred. He would never be able to watch Tiger play again and he loved watching him play. Tiger may yet again win tournaments, but he is forever tainted by his actions and continued Petulant Childishness.

It's the US Open, dammit!! Every year the course that's chosen is ordered to let the grass in the rough grow higher and narrow the fairways as much as possible to deliberately make the course difficult. It's not like he's not won at Pebble Beach before...
Manute Bol, who became a basketball sensation in the 1980s as a skeletally thin shot-blocking giant with the Washington Bullets and other professional teams, and who devoted his post-basketball life to improving the lot of his fellow natives of Sudan, died June 19 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was 47.

Bol was a rail-thin, 7'7" NBA center known for having quite a sense of humor. He was a shot-blocking specialist. In Washington he played briefly with Muggsy Bogues, who was 5'3".
I remember watching stories on Manute spending his own money and trying to raise more to ease the suffering in his homeland in southern Sudan and thinking inevitably about the contrast with the other 90% of sports morons who are self involved fools and what they do with their lives and fortunes.
I'd rather be like Manute than Mike. RIP.
Had season tix to the Golden State Weenies when Manute played for them.
Was genuinely a real likable fellow, able to laugh at himself, and well loved for that by the fans. Sad to hear he's passed on.
On the many JOMer's recommending the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) as a place for Donald to visit---thought this funny from the recent Churchill Biography.
Churchill, an artist himself, hated modern art. In his later years the author recounts a scene where Churchill was sitting with a good friend, Sir Alfred Munnings, president of the Royal Academy:
"He and Munnings had a lot in common, especially love of life and color and detestation of "modern art." Munnings related: Mr Churchill said to me, 'Alf, if you were walking down Piccadilly, and you saw Picasso walking in front of you, what would you do?' 'Kick his arse, Mr Churchill.' 'Quite right, Alf.'"
Apparently Sir Winston also hated the movie "Citizen Kane", but loved "Stagecoach" and "Destry Rides Again."
OT but lookey lookey who behind the campaign to delegitimize Israel in the US:
Fenton Communications, which has offices in Washington, D.C., New York, and San Francisco, signed two contracts last year with Qatar to develop "a communications action plan for an 18-month campaign" aimed at delegitimizing Israel and generating international support for the Hamas-run Gaza strip, documents filed with the Department of Justice show.
Yeah, I just read that, Gmax; they set up RealClimate, too, the disinformation site about climate. And Center for American Progress funds Joe Romm, the frothing mad dog. It's a mess.

Healthcare is anything but treatment like PEPFAR, mostly wasting money. 'development and distribution of information' Public health (service act) is all volunteers and that isn't enough money, so the budget is tripled and wasted.

Friends of The Earth is the Eco group that pushed the EPA to ban 100LL Aviation Fuel I linked yesterday, which will drastically harm Alaska's economy and outlying village populations.
Some days yes, some days no. I am somewhere between 5-8 handicap this year, got down to 3.4 last year. Been too busy to put much time into it, but probably should.
He brought me home a Cut-Down Right-Handed Arnold Palmer 2-Wood from the pro shop for my fourth birthday. I was determined to be left-handed and hit it on the back of that club until I flattened it out.
My dad played the tour in the 1950's as part of the Ben Hogan Team. I have an autographed picture of my dad and Ben Hogan that I will never sell. He ended up being a better club pro and teaching pro - he did the Detroit Free Press Golf Schools for the kids at various times. He simply could not watch someone struggling with their swing and not help.
I wonder, how many of the current professionals at this year's open would be labeled as "class acts"? Certainly not Tiger!
daddy, Fenton is the left's ring leader. They made their name with the trumped up Alar scare..Go to ActivistCash.com for the details. Jennifer Verner wrote a long piece about the outfit some years ago.
See LUN for a report on the beginning of a tournament with a playoff system I never understood. Someday I am determined to figure out how the seedings and double elimination aspect work.
A letter from Alaskan Congressman Don Young on Friends Of The Earth:
Congressman Don Young responds to EPA ANPRM on 100 Low Lead
Washington, May 14, 2020 -
Washington, D.C. – Alaskan Congressman Don Young sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding a proposed rule which would ban the use of leaded fuel in all piston engine aircraft in the United States. Currently, there is no suitable replacement for leaded aviation gasoline.
"Once again the EPA is trying to put the cart before the horse," said Rep. Don Young. "This premature ban on leaded fuel would kill rural communities in Alaska and across the United States. Many of these isolated communities depend on single or twin piston aircraft to provide them with food and other supplies. These communities cannot afford to pay increased shipping costs from new planes or new retrofitted engines as the EPA has suggested.
"Keep in mind that this whole idea is in response to a petition filed by an extreme environmental group called ‘Friends of the Earth.’ Like ‘Greenpeace’ and ‘Defenders of Wildlife, ‘Friends of the Earth’ is no friend of mine and they’re certainly no friend of Alaska."
According to the FAA, scheduled service single and twin piston engine aircraft made almost 200,000 departures in 2009 throughout Alaska. Of the 157 communities nationwide receiving a subsidy under the Essential Air Service program, 49 are served by piston engine aircraft, with 36 of those communities in Alaska.
daddy, Alaska, ade a big mistake in accepting statehood. In any event the feds reneged on the promises made to Stevens et al at the time. Secede--you'll all be rich.
Hey PDinDetroit, I went to those schools a couple of times, probably in the early 70s. Palmer Park golf course.
Mom says that he did the schools from their start until 1978 when he retired as a PGA Life Member, except for when he was in Ohio from 1966-1973 as head pro at Hawthorne Valley near Cleveland and Highland Meadows in Sylvania (where they play the Jamie Farr Womens Tournament).
Chances are, you may have taken lessons from him - I have run into quite a few people who have. He once told me that 400+ kids showed up when they were prepared for only 125! His name is John "JD" Dalrymple, passed away in 2005.
I used to be an 8 handicap back when I was working in pro shops and played/practiced 5 days a week.
Alas,I'm the type who needs the repetition to keep the swing consistent. I'm lucky if I shoot bogey golf these days.
I mean,I still look good when I swing, and I still hit a lot of fantastic shots. But these days I'll be going along just fine before putting together a string of doubles, and then have a traditional snow man or two in a round.
The lack of consistency is what kills me. I really don't care that I don't flirt with par any more. I just don't like going birdie ... double ... par ... snow man. Makes me seek the beer cart girl.
These two points were interesting - • Monitor social networking and mainstream media outlets and blogs
• Develop press materials and "pitch stories to university and mainstream press"
How many of the stories in our papers & on TV are pre-written "pitch stories"? The inbreeding between the leftist groups, politicians, and MSM is a great unwritten story for non-news-junkie-Americans. They go to the same parties (cocktail & super-soaker), marry, and get positions for each others kids and spouses.
I think a big factor for our crap MSM is that they are lazy.
Alaska is good, isn't it, narciso? I liked how he started with the Big Bang and took it all the way up to the present.
As for Fenton Communications, this type out outfit could never make it under the radar as a right-wing group. Respectable organizations wouldn't ever be able to live down doing business with them. Yet, why does no one call them out?
Of course if Bush/Rove had a political war room and a few Carville/Begala types to take enemies on, we'd all have known about them ten years ago.
Maybe we should all join those organizations...rise to levels of authority...and begin dismantling them from within. I believe that is what liberal theologians have done with some denominations.
What are these? * National Religious Partnership on the Environment
* Evangelical Environmental Network
...and what do they have to do with Jesus?
Hit - always up for a challenge, I may take you up on that. I am supposed to take vacation in early August, just have not yet determined where and what to do.
My dad was down there for some tournament one year in the 1970's, cannot remember what one. That is where I got my lucky horseshoe - there was one hanging on a tree on the course and one of the golfers in the group grabbed it and gave it to me (no joking).
The Golf Hall of Fame used to be in Pinehurst NC. The street right across from it - Dalrymple Street. That was very cool!
If you don't have my email,go to my blog (LUN) and follow the link to my profile ... Should you get the itch to head down this way, I'll definitely get the itch to play ... bogey golf!
I'm not claiming to have some great "in" for No. 2,but I will pick up green fees if my neighbor's mom who lives on No. 6 gets us in.
Elliott,I would be honored if you could join us...
narisco.....are you still writing at the site you started? Another blogger and I are looking to do a site that has significant focus on Florida politics.
I confess that my interests in Tiger were always that he displayed a unique excellence and I wanted to watch him the way I loved to watch Bill Russell and Jack.
He's now come way back today and seems to have recaptured the gift he was once given.
I also confess that my shallowness does not permit me to hate him becuase he did not kneel in nightly prayer with his family.
As you know, almost anyone who really does that is NOT famous.
Clarice: I saw your list from RootsCampDC. Prena Lal, listed with DreamActivist, is the lead blogger for CodePink's site. She's also with Change.org. Are any of these Soros groups? Prena Lal has a picture on her Facebook page carrying one of those California seperatist flags. She's constantly flacking information for illegals to get driver's licenses and scholarships.
And I, for one, am glad to see the fiesty Tiger back. The caged Tiger just couldn't compete - what caged animal can? Tiger on the prowl is to be reckoned with.
I'm not in his inner circle, so his personal failings have no bearing on my life.
Just as Van Gogh was a troubled soul, I can still appreciate his work for what it was.
Memory is good on that score ,Bob, the surprising thing is the positive coverage
that McClatchy has been giving Scott the former HCA guy, I know that makes me suspicious
My dog in the hunt was Paula Dockery. McCollum is the establishment candidate from an establishment that badly needs to be broken up. Jeb Bush is still the Godfather and they all step lively-Rubio included.
Just the first troubled soul that came to mind - no surprise I'm staring at a repro of the Sunflowers (done by my daughter in artist markers - she did an awesome job).
Ruth probably is truer to the mark, he was supposedly a skirt chaser and definitely liked his booze.
So sue me, my brain is still a little toasty from the 95 deg heat on the course today (I did shoot a 92).
Tiger Bryant? Isn't that over?

Just One Manute.
Posted by: MayBee | June 19, 2010 at 04:02 PM
I once rode up a Houston hotel elevator with Manute Bol. He was very tall. I took up more floor space.
Posted by: Strawman Cometh | June 19, 2010 at 04:13 PM
Who?
Posted by: Larry Sheldon | June 19, 2010 at 04:18 PM
Bol was a rail-thin, 7'7" NBA center known for having quite a sense of humor. He was a shot-blocking specialist. In Washington he played briefly with Muggsy Bogues, who was 5'3".
Posted by: DrJ | June 19, 2010 at 04:22 PM

Healthcare is anything but treatment like PEPFAR, mostly wasting money. 'development and distribution of information' Public health (service act) is all volunteers and that isn't enough money, so the budget is tripled and wasted.
O is justifying his foreign aid health care entitlements. He couldn't get the five year budgets done.

Did it rub off, PD?
I'm jealous.

Thanks Clarice,
A letter from Alaskan Congressman Don Young on Friends Of The Earth:

Posted by: PDinDetroit | June 19, 2010 at 07:00 PM
PDinDetroit,that is so fascinating.

More Fenton -
The MoveOn/Hamas Nexus
These two points were interesting -
• Monitor social networking and mainstream media outlets and blogs

Let's hope the next president isn't so passive.
