(isn't he the richest man in Congress?

--(isn't he the richest man in Congress?--

I believe it would more correctly be stated that he is the most accomplished golddigger in Congress, chub.
Sort of a gaunt, craggy vulture kept in a gilded cage.

Here's the headline pic's again from the Boston Herald:

Is there a more despised person in Congress than the long-faced gigolo?

Extraneus

From the "yacht" link:

But before you get incensed, this is not what it appears -- at all. He’s docking "Isabel" (the name of the yacht) in Rhode Island only because it makes sense logically. It was bought there so of course it would stay there, argued Kerry spokesman David Wade.

:-) And why was it bought in RI, you ask?

daddy

Man its too early to be drinking but Paul Gigot on his FOX Show is criticizing The Daily Caller in the JournOlist Scandal for failing to release all of their JournOlist e-mails so that we can see if they've been published by The Daily Caller in the proper context.

Maybe I'm crazy, but in this JournOlist scandal the entity that leaps to my mind for criticism and a demand to be open and transparent and to release all the e-mails might actually be the JournOlista's (ie Ezra Klein), not The Daily Caller. Guess I just don't have what it takes to be a bigtime Political Analyst Talking Head like Gigot.

Clarice

I'm with you, daddy. Man that white toga crowd is big one, isn't it?

I wonder where he has his windsurfer docked ?

Paul Gigot needs to STFU; I'm not sure what's happened to him re the JList or Ace and his co-shitheadsbloggers on Breitbart/Charade but they all seem like they've been out in the sun too long and fallen prey to some douche producing virus or bacteria.

Daddy: I agree with you about Paul Gigot. I was still muttering to myself when Fox News Watch came on and I saw the "new and improved" (after being used as a floor mop by Megyn Kelly a week ago) Kirsten Powers spout even more nonsensical leftist pap than she normally used to. Leftism is a really ugly form of insanity!!!!

It is only 12:13 here and I, too, wish it were later and cocktail hour. So, for now I will just overdose on something sugary.

centralcal

Okay, I need to let off some steam . . .

Kirsten, dear, and anyone else guilty of stating as absolute FACT that there are SOME racists in the Tea Party, read my lips! There are racists (quite a lot of them) in the Democrat Party, in the Republican Party, in the Independent Party, in all the Nincompoop "Other" Parties and in the human race. I can state that, just like you Dearie, as an ABSOLUTE FACT!!!!!

Now, tug your panties from where they are riding up, and breathe into a paper bag, please.

Speaking of Gore, I for one am disappointed that we haven't seen more intensive coverage of the two latest Chakra releases. Both accounts seem highly credible to me. If anyone spots anything new in this saga, please bring it to our attention.

Jane

But before you get incensed, this is not what it appears -- at all. He’s docking "Isabel" (the name of the yacht) in Rhode Island only because it makes sense logically. It was bought there so of course it would stay there, argued Kerry spokesman David Wade.

I wrote about this at You Too this morning, but think about Wade's statement. Kerry owns waterfront property on Nantucket - a few doors down on Brant point, next to the Johnson and Johnson estate. So in the name of logic, when he feels like taking a spin, he must fetch a limo 5 miles to the airport (and sit in the back, cause I've seen him do it) charter a plane to Hyannis, catch another limo during peak summer traffic and make his way from the middle of Cape Cod to the equally as busy Newport RI - about 60 miles.

#2 - he said he would pay "if taxes are owed". Well the whole bloody point was to make sure taxes were not owed.

Jane

CC, I really think Kirsten powers has lost it. Too bad cause I liked her.

And what Hit said. I volunteered him without him knowing so be nice to him or he will get me back, I'm sure.

MayBee

In fairness, MA sales taxes are probably used to subsidize the MA health care plan, which John Kerry,as a US Senator, does not use.

Or something.

maryrose

Listening to Kirsten Powers say that the Black Panther thugs standing outside a Philly voting place with billy clubs weren't doing anything wrong suspends belief.
During the 2004 election I made sure everyone at my workplace knew that Kerry and TerAysuh were only paying a 12% income tax rate. In Ohio that's part of the reason he lost.

Larry Sheldon

The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations has had a little up-tic in business for one reason and one reason only.

It has lower taxes that Massachusetts does.

Old Lurker

Just because it says Newport on the stern does not mean it lives there all the time.

When I get to Nantucket next weekend, I'll go look for it. It can only be in one place so will be easy to spot.

Oh. About being the richest man in the Senate, John Heinz might have been, and his wife and sons may well be right up there now...and the Dork (who served in Viet Nam) might be living very high on the hog as a result of all that...but it ain't his money!

Herman Munster keeps his boat in RI because he saves a few bucks on his taxes that are paid by his extremely wealthy wife who herself didn't even earn the money she has.
But whatever brain was dropped into his empty pan on the laboratory table is unable to deduce from that, that people considerably less wealthy might work considerably harder if they can keep thousands more of their earnings through lower income tax rates.

Jane

OL,

Caro and I are planning to sail to Nantucket at some point. How long are you staying?

Clarice

IIRC his tax scam was a bit of a failure, Jane (Re your comment IF he owes any money). It seems he did dock it in Mass withi 6 months of buying it and he DOES owe the money. Now if the voters of Mass are wiling to put up with this lying, stupid hypocrite, that's their business, but the rest of us would be grateful if he were thrown out of office .

John Kerry

is unable to deduce from that, that people considerably less wealthy might work considerably harder if they can keep thousands more of their earnings through lower income tax rates.

I don't understand this connection you make between 'work' and 'earnings.' You mean there is some way to generate income other than marry a very rich lady and live off her wealth?

Rocco

In a Letter to the Editor of the Boston Herald by John Kerry on April 9, 2010 and posted on his senate web page.

I was surprised to see today's article [in the Boston Herald] completely distort and misrepresent my position on a value added tax. With a projected deficit of over $1.3 trillion for 2010, we need changes in fiscal policy and that's why I supported creation of a bipartisan task force which would make recommendations on spending and revenues. In order for this task force to be successful, all options should be on the table. Everything should be debated. Our income tax system has become complicated. Working people resent paying taxes while big corporations and the connected avoid taxes and stash money away in Cayman Island bank accounts. Any tax reform should make the tax code simpler, fairer, more progressive, and reward work. That debate hasn't even begun, but I don't support adding a Value Added Tax on top of today's income tax system, and Congress isn't considering that! Let's get real.

OL and Jane-

I almost had to pop the keys off the keyboard again when I read that Michelle Malkin refers to John and Theresa as "Thurston and Lovey".

I had tea almost out the nose on that one.

daddy

Concerning Kerry, ala Jane's Blog:

Sarah Palin is a geographical idiot because she truly stated that there are some places in Alaska where you can see Russia, yet Kerry is brilliant because it’s geographically "more convenient for him" to travel 3 hours to Rhode Island to get on his Yacht, rather than walking out his back door in Nantucket. (Standing by for a limerick competition on that!)

Geography for thee but not for me.

Also Jane completely concur on Kirsten Powers. She has jumped the shark reasonability wise and revealed herself as simply another disingenuous talking points talking head hack, even though it still remains a comely head.

Ya know her downfall seemed to happen simultaneously with the dems fortunes.

Old Lurker

You win, Daddy. That's great.

Clarice,

Thanks for the continuing updates on the JournOlist.

Ann Althouse has a decent post up on Howie Kurtz where she quotes Howie this week as saying of the JournOlista's: "None of this quite adds up to a Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy,..."

From your list we see JournOlista's belonged to (among others) the:

NYTimes
Washington Post
Chicago Tribune
Boston Globe
Baltimore Sun
Time
Newsweek
Slate
Salon
The Atlantic
The New Republic
Politico
CNN
MSNBC
NPR,

we have also seen that some of these individuals wound up working for the Administration, and also that from the released JournOlist e-mails, some of them intentionally colluded to use their soapboxes to maliciously and dishonestly destroy Conservative's and Republican's reputations, conspired to suppress honest inquiry into news-matters that should have been covered by a legitimate News Media, and have congratulated themselves on their success at that dishonest conspiracy.

All that being said, my question that I wish someone would ask of Howie Kurtz;

"Since this isn't in your view a "Vast Left Wing Conspiracy" what in the hell would you consider a "Vast Left Wing Conspiracy"? Please lay the particulars of what it would actually consist of out there for us all, so that in future we will be able to know it when we see it."

What a dishonest hack.

Chubby (formerly Parking Lot)

I'd like to know if anyone from the Christian Science Monitor was on the JournOlist. The CSM used to be my daily newspaper of choice but ever since I started noticing its heavy liberal bias I can't bear to read it. Its liberal slant has practically bankrupted it, it used to publish a daily print edition, the print edition is now weekly, (but there is still a daily web edition).

Melinda Romanoff

No, daddy, he's not a dishonest hack.

He's a lying, SELF-IMPORTANT hack.

A slight correction, but I think you'll agree.

Chubby (formerly Parking Lot)

they're a bunch of yellow dog dems doing aggressive lurid and irresponsible yellow journalism

MarkO

Aren't all these denials sometimes known as false, exculpatory statements?

Why do I like the sound of that?

I favor daddy's suggestion that one of these liars outlines the dimensions of a conspiracy. I enjoy imagining what more could be added and still keep it hidden.

Extraneus

He thought "Screw that tax," he could duck it
But once took his boat to Nantucket
And now she must pay
"What a fool!" said Teres'

Ignatz

--We are trying to build a house there but are having legal difficulties.--

OK, now I'm really hurt, OL. After I told you I had a nice ranch in Yosemite with your name on it, you decide to build a house in the only state more full of commies than CA. I'm very disappointed.

Melinda Romanoff

OL-

I'm really surprised your builder isn't getting the skids greased for you. Unless it's an off-island crew, and in that case you are in the "slow lane" of permitsville, with no turn out at the round-a-bout.

(and no Chinn's either. I miss that.)

dick

I remember commenting on a Dem website back right after the 2004 election and I was told that I was banned because they all knew Kerry and he was such an upstanding man that anything I had to say against he could not be true. I wonder what they have to say about this one.

matt

The Nutroots are in session in Las Vegas and Mad Nancy is there exhorting them to continue the progressive onslaught. Barry O and Rachel Maddow did a video broadcast>

"The president's video included edited clips of MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow reporting news of each of his accomplishments in office, from health care to hate crimes to student loans. "The last time any president did this much in office, booze was illegal," Maddow deadpanned in the video. "

Old Lurker

So you'd think, Mel. No, I stayed with locals on all fronts just for that reason. The hurdle there is not permits, it is always getting designs approved by the historic review folks. All of my friends have gone through the same thing. I thought offering to actually build when nobody else is would encourage a quicker review, but alas that has not been the case. I worry my architects are getting tired of designing houses for us.

Rob Crawford

Kerry owns waterfront property on Nantucket - a few doors down on Brant point, next to the Johnson and Johnson estate. So in the name of logic, when he feels like taking a spin, he must fetch a limo 5 miles to the airport (and sit in the back, cause I've seen him do it) charter a plane to Hyannis, catch another limo during peak summer traffic and make his way from the middle of Cape Cod to the equally as busy Newport RI - about 60 miles.

My older sister and her husband bought a little place on Lake Erie (how little? It's a mobile home), and dock their boat a couple hundred feet from the trailer. The idea that it makes more sense to dock a boat 60 miles from where you're most likely to use it is senseless.

Rob Crawford

I almost had to pop the keys off the keyboard again when I read that Michelle Malkin refers to John and Theresa as "Thurston and Lovey".

That's horrible! To associate one of America's most beloved couples with such scurrilous, power-mad, disgusting characters is unconscionable!

Why, Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer must be spinning in their graves at such an insult...

narciso the harpoon

And they had Van Jones on yesterday, saying they can just take more money from the rich

I think he was really just trying to avoid the new windmill farm/Indian sacred something or other ground in Nantucket Sound. Knowing his navigational skills and ability to conjure up the most amazing stories, they probably want to keep him well away from rocks and shoals and anything he might run into.

Lurch does not pilot a yacht that big. He has a crew to handle it.

I guarantee it.

Rob Crawford

The president's video included edited clips of MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow reporting news of each of his accomplishments in office, from health care to hate crimes...

Er, commission or abetting of?

Captain Hate

"The last time any president did this much in office, booze was illegal," Maddow deadpanned in the video. "

Rocky had obviously taken full advantage of its legality before coming up with that whopper.

Clarice

daddy, go to the WaPo online. Find Kurtz' article. Go to the comments section and paste your post in there or email him your brilliant comment.

Clarice

I think it was Capt Hate who recommended the movie "Winter's Bone" the other day. In any event it was someone here and I went to see it tonight on the strength of that. It is a fantastic, no b.s. movie about poor people in the Ozarks . The actors are fantastic. The story is compelling and believable. While it is a grim tale, I think it uplifting--a story how a decent kid who wants to be responsible and save her family at any cost, inspires by the force of her moral character the worst of people to help her in that quest.
Don't miss it.

narciso the harpoon

It's curious how this portrait of Kerry, fits in with the villain in the latest Dan Silva,
a Swiss financier and industrialist named Lindemann, known as 'Saint Martin' for all
his philanthropy is just a deeply amoral human being, at every level.

Danube of Thought

My darling and I read the book last week and are going to go see movie. Very well-told tale of life in a part of America that is virtually unknown.

Melinda Romanoff

OL-

Aaah, now I understand. You've encountered the "church ladies".

Those to whom governance of all things sacrosanct to them have been assumed in their own laws.

Some may wear pants and speak gruffly, but somehow, despite themselves, they moved past the storage of oil in barrels and "Yankee" gutters.

I would encourage 2X6 framing and a poured and cored foundation, with straps. After that, let the harridans help design your shell. Once.

Then call them on it.

We rented in "Sconset for years, BTW. When the direct flights from NY started, we fled. Everything changed.

I wore a button for years on my trading jacket that I picked up at the "Bookworks" that read "We Don't Care How They Do It In New York."

The other was "Some Drink At The Fountain Of Knowledge, Others Just Gargle".

The NYers would get really, really pissed.

And the ones I dealt with deserved it.

Melinda Romanoff

Clarice-

I never asked this of anyone here before ( I think ), but have you seen "October Skies"?

(And this is going to set off JMH like no tomorrow...)

Clarice

No, I haven't seen it, Mel.

Melinda Romanoff

It's basically a slice of the life of Homer Hickam. He grew up not far from you and was the primary developer of the solid fuel that they used on the, now dead, shuttle program.

And it was filmed in, and around, Tazewell, VA.

Neat story, aside from the melodrama added in for Laura Dern.

Worth an at-home watch, or on demand, if you play with Comcast.

Just one for "the list".

Melinda Romanoff

Way off Topic, but important, Reid to try and change filibuster rules.

He blabbed this at "NetRoots" and the story can be found here, in all its pixellated glory.

Melinda Romanoff

Enough for me, I have to build countertops tomorrow. Too much MDF and too many biscuits and glue. Heavy stuff.

G'night all.

mefolkes

Mel, I agree with your recommendation of "October Skies". Real and inspiring.

Biscuits and glue. They sure make joinery easier and more permanent. Have fun with the countertops.

mefolkes

Just don't have too many nightcaps and start the project with biscuits and gravy!

Danube of Thought

There is no such thing as too many nightcaps.

Come January 2013, if there is a hope of undoing all the terrible harm of the past 18 months, it will be a great boon if the filibuster rule doesn't stand in the way. Might as well let the Dems be the ones to put anvend to it.

Danube of Thought

*put an end to it*

(I blame Iphone and nightcaps.)

daddy

Clarice,

Posted it with slight improvement under my real name at Kurtz's">http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/22/AR2010072206024_Comments.html">Kurtz's WaPo Column on 7/25/2010 1:42:28 AM. Thanks for the suggestion. Will be interesting to see if it gets deleted, answered, or flagged for abuse, but according to the other 10 pages of comments, Kurtz is getting shellacked and his integrity and reputation among the commenters is being hooted at with great derision by the commenters. Wonderful to see that.

Felt yucky having to register with the Washington Post though. Uggh! Can't believe I used to deliver that rag.

Captain Hate

Clarice, glad you took my recommendation and liked it (not that people can't subjectively disagree; I thought "Greenberg" was outstanding as a very dark comedy but I don't think it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people's tastes, for example). I have a friend who probably wouldn't like it because it's a "good person prevails against all odds" movie (and he likes to be honestly surprised by a story), as was the excellent "October Skies", but it was a tale very well told.

Jane

Thanks to daddy who compiled Capn' Ex and his own ode to lurch, I've posted them at You Too along with the latest Matt's meditation which is excellent.

Pagar

Daddy, those Washington Post comments must really be scary for leftist propaganda agents. Looks like some people are finally willing to point out, in a leftist publication, just how evil the Journlist plot to install Obama was.

Meanwhile, the takeover of the free world by the Sharia Law supporters continues unabated. Weaselzippers has story after story. The one that really affects America is a New Jersey judge justifies spousal rape using Sharia Law. As near as I can tell no leftists really see anything wrong with Sharia law.

Jane

Oh and I forgot to mention Glasater's spectacular cartoon.

Clarice

well, the judge was overruled, pagar.

daddy, good for you.

I'll look for October Sky on netflix. Thanks. I went to Winter's Bones with friends--he's a professor and she has a Phd in poli sci but is in business. They were utterly mesmerized by the movie..had never seen anything about the Ozarks, knew little about the rural meth explosion, etc etc.

In my youth I traveled through the hollows and coal fields and I had seen such poverty before. But the thing about this movie --and I'd recommend anyone with teenagers at home take them to see it--was how without being preachy or treacly it honored good character, bravery and self sacrifice.

The fact that the actors and actresses -who were fabulous --were not professionals added to the artistic veracity of it.

The Wash Po reviewer only gave it two and one-half stars, as opposed to Agora and The Kids are All Right (Hollywood fluffies) which got 3 stars. Had this been made in Europe, he probably would have ranked it up there with The Bicycle Thief.

Pagar

Clarice, IMO, we have to get to the point where the original judge decides correctly, and the victim does not have to wait to win appeals that don't always go in favor of the victim. The Libby case, the Stevens case, The Conrad Black case, all stand as monuments to the fact that getting the original judge to decide the case correctly is the most important step. IMO, all three of the cases should have been thrown out by the original judge. Forcing victims to spend millions on appeals is just plain wrong.

Neo
