I propose we re-name the Attorney General "Stonewall" Holder. While I would never besmirch the name of General Thomas Jackson, remember, there was another Stonewall.

In 1969, the Stonewall incident in Greenwich Village was the springboard for the gay rights movement, who now hold a special protection under the law as another of the special interest groups favored by the leftist elite. How very apropos that Stonewall Holder upholds the rights of the few over those of the many.

God is Great and color blinded.

Sure I were happy
When King called us all free men.
So why the big stick?

I can't wait to hear Howard Kurtz says it's all about nothing. Just look away. No news here.

The previous Prospect post, has Serwer citing Jason 'Rove will be frog marched' Leopold, that's just cups of epic fail

Jeez those Innertubie thingys certainly make the MSM's job harder, don't they?

My Sunday "related to absolutely nothing" post -
Heard an old favorite song this afternoon...London Homesick Blues

"Well, when you're down on your luck,
and you ain't got a buck,
in London you're a goner.
Even London Bridge has fallen down,
and moved to Arizona,
now I know why.
And I'll substantiate the rumor
that the English sense of humor
is drier than the Texas sand.
You can put up your dukes,
and you can bet your boots,
that I'm leavin' just as fast as I can.

Chorus;
I wanna go home with the armadillo.
Good country music from Amarillo and Abilene.
The friendliest people and the prettiest women
you've ever seen."

We are going down to see the folks at the end of July so the song put me in the mood.

Loved how the London Bridge moved to Arizona - more class than the NBA!

The London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Perfect Ann! I think Elizabeth Arden's Red Door salons are safe from competition but we'll be targeting the numerous bitter clingers.

Btw, if you missed it Doug Ross has a transcript of a Mark Levin radio show where he gives it to Obama: Mark Levin: your health care bill is a fraud, Mr. President, and you lied

Wish I could think of one elected official that would say that in the capital on T.V.

You know, if you scroll the picture so all you can see is Michelle's mouth, she bears a striking resemblance to Secretariat.

If Obama bankrupts the country, all that is left is the government to fund and control everything. Isn't that the idea? Everyone will eventually be forced out of private insurance, except the very rich who will always get along in grand style. The new financial sham will simply push money where the Democrats wish it and confound mere private enterprise. Our problem is not lack of regulation; it is lack of enforcement and lack of smart folks to do so.

Army of Davids

If Donald Berwick will not be fully vetted in Senate hearings than this Tea Party American calls for his resignation.

matt

If Obama bankrupts the country, then he really can't do much of anything because no one will take dollars in payment anymore. We would have either Weimar level inflation or have to come up with a new currency like Brazil, Argentina, and other profligate states have done.

It would choke off imports including oil and have a cascading effect. One thing these idiots don't understand is the domino effect their actions have, aka the law of unintended consequences.

My bet is that transactions go back to an alternative such as RMB, Euros, gold, or even Canadian dollars. We could also end up like Russia or Eastern Europe trading a black market in currencies with crony capitalism and foreign exchange allocations for insiders.

daddy

Don't know if you guys caught this but Newsbusters has video from Kurtz's CNN show wherein he interviews Bob Schieffer of CBS.

Schieffer says ">http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2010/07/18/bob-schieffer-i-didnt-ask-holder-about-black-panther-case-because-i-just-didnt-know-about-it"> I Didn't Ask Holder About Black Panther Case Because 'I Just Didn't Know About It...I Was On Vacation That Week':

"I mean, you know, God knows everything, but I'm not quite that good. Every once in a while, something will slip by me. And in this case, it just slipped by me. If I'd have known it, I would have asked about it."

who supports Islamist elements, this must have been written months before the events surrounding Mabhouh, yet very timely none the less

Stephanie

You know that there is an indoor ski resort in Dubai, right?

Well, they are trying to get stimulus funds to build an indoor ski resort like the one in Dubai... in North Georgia - in the foothills on Lake Lanier. NO luck, so far. Must be that :hiss: republican Governor or that Georgia is a "Gulf State" or that we are populated with tea partiers or that blacks don't ski. It makes as much sense as a rain forest research center in Alaska.

Famos

Crack is bad. Pictures don't help.

daddy

Haven't seen that rainforest thing Narciso but suppose I'll read about it soon.

The thing about Schieffer, CBS's Bigshot saying he didn't know about the Black Panther's case amazed me. When Dennis Miller was asked about it, he said that he would give Schieffer the benefit of the doubt and just consider the guy as being grossly ignorant instead of lying. I'm not convinced, and think there is always the 3rd option exhibited brilliantly by Andrea Mitchell---Amensia!

Just FYI, Parnell continues to be in some trouble up here about the apparent illegal hirings of Legislators. Fagan and Andree McLeod are double teaming him, (imagine that) tho' from different directions. She's demanding the internal paperwork and Fagan got the Attorney General to look at the paperwork which seems to not exist, and then to issue his ruling that the hirings were illegal, causing Dahlstrom to resign.

Anyhow, ultimate point now is that a 2nd Fairbanks Legislator who was illegally hired by Parnell for a high paying job so far will not quit. Parnell is playing mum and hoping it will all go away, but his Repub election opponents are starting to go after him loudly on the issue, especially on Talk Radio. It would not surprise me at all if he was defeated come the Primary. The ADN likes him way better than his Repub opponents, so they are still trying to bury the story. This issue will live or die on talk radio in the next few weeks. Will keep you advised if interested.

daddy

Just looked up the rainforest story.

The ">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongass_National_Forest"> Tongass via Wiki and half a dozen other links, is considered a "Temperate Rain Forest."

Ignatz would know better than I, having logged down there, but obviously this new guy is head of ">http://newsminer.com/bookmark/8806423"> some new Government Agency created to do the ecological regulating of every fart in the Forest, whether its from a bear pooping or a murmuring hemlock falling and nobody hearing it etc. Yes we do have a rainforest, just not the tropical variety, so thats what that must be all about.

Topsecretk9

Yeah, it's pretty funny to see so many liberal blogs who bellyached endlessly that Bush dismissed 7 US attorney's as the biggest scandal shy of nothing burger Valerie Plame, just pass this off as just a run of the mill nothing. I mean all those other scandals had night sticks with men spouting hating cracker on video and default judgments right?

Topsecretk9

Where is Jeff defending this?

daddy

Where is Jeff defending this?

Ah, yes, the good ol' days with the good ol' trolls.

Nice to see you TS. I have wondered where Jeff has been these last many years myself.

mefolkes

Daddy, I'm glad you cleared up Narciso's confusion. I was almost going to chime in until I saw your update. That's precisely where I'll be in three weeks, checking out my land options for my new home. Stand too long in one place and moss grows on you. Look up while it's raining and you can drown (almost). But it is most definitely a unique ecosystem. I can hardly wait to settle in and begin to offend the Gaia worshippers by gouging wounds in Mother Earth to anchor my foundations to the limestone bedrock, after first clearing the building site of sacred trees. And then I will commit horrible depradations on the fish, shellfish, birds and mammals of the area to satisfy my degenerate appetite for flesh, filthy carnivore that I am.

daddy

I believe ">http://projects.washingtonpost.com/top-secret-america/articles/a-hidden-world-growing-beyond-control/"> this is the Washington Post story we've been hearing about these last few days that is supposedly going to open up the labyrinth that is our Top Secret Intelligence Community.

I am sure you guys will give it the due scrutiny it deserves, but having just read the first sentence, this is what crossed my mind.

"The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work."

Let me simply change a couple words:

Not even counting the top secret world, the government has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.

daddy

Mefolkes, Am sure you are going to love it.

About the only thing the wife and kids get mad at me about, is that every time I come home from a trip I just can't help exclaiming how beautiful our fiord and mountains and trees are, and everybody tells me to just please shut up about it already, as they've heard it a million times---but I'm seeing it each time with fresh eyes and have a hard time keeping quiet. LUN for a partial view out our windows.

Oh well, not a bad thing to be hollered at about in the long run. Your territory must be absolutely gorgeous as well.

daddy

And if you can make it through that WaPo Dana Priest story where she hammers the Intel Community for not effectively sharing intel---Does anyone happen to remember her and the WaPo's opinion on Jamie Gorelick's establishment of the firewall between the CIA and the FBI? I can't quite seem to recollect her/their outrage...but maybe I just have a bad case of Bob Schieffer.

Janet CEO Redneck Beauty Salon Inc.

What a view daddy! Wow! I'll take a drive down Doddridge Rd. when I'm home next week...you've gone far my man. There's a opening storyline in there somewhere - "From the dusty street of Doddridge to the crisp mountains of Alaska....one man's journey."
Probably have to fit beer drinking in there somewhere...

Pops

It would be fun to see Fox news or the RNC hire some gentlemen and dress them up like the Black Panthers in Philadelphia and have them stand out in front of the CNN and MSNBC studios.

Then have a camera hidden across the street to see if these organizations might 'take action' against such persons...

narciso the harpoon

wth, is wrong with these people, it's called 'top secret' for a reason, interesting that they didn't show this kind of attention to the health care bill or the Franken Dodd monstrosity. I thought Arkin was bad enough
revealing every secret program name, in a book not that long ago,

Re: Washing Post Expose

Glad to see conservatives hate useful investigative journalism. Nothing pisses off right-wingers more than journalists actually doing their jobs of exposing government waste and civil liberties violations.

Besides, if you actually took the time to read it it shows that the intelligence community is so bloated and inefficient that it failed to detect the warning signs to prevent the Fort Hood shooting and the Christmas pants bomber. THAT is the real threat to our security, not the journalists who expose the incompetence of these agencies (or contractors, really).

Janesquaredance

Actually the real threat to our security is Obama AJB - he's an incompetent buffoon as are nearly all of his appointees. And he does not know the first thing about keeping us safe.

Not that I prefer to find myself in a position of defending Rove but these idiots are just too lame to be taken seriously.

Here is the Sweetness & Light post.

I love the Kurtz on Arkin.."he insists he's not a journalist"

The previous WaPo ombudsman that passed away did a column on conflict-of-interest once. Priest insisted that she didn't talk to her husband (Goodfellow) about work. So I guess we have her word for it.

Clarice, push that fishing for an invitation from Daddy, but don't forget all the great fresh seafood you and your family will have if you visit me. Maybe two stays with friends on an extended trip?

Captain Hate

I can't bear to listen to Eleanor Clift

I first gained an appreciation for Laura Ingraham on the McLaughlin Group (back when the sight and sound of the gasbag host didn't make me want to vomit) when she wouldn't back down from ridiculing that clueless harpy's tenuous grasp of reality.

Janesquaredance

Daddy,

Is that a real picture taken out of your real window?

It looks like a postcard. How absolutely spectacular.

mefolkes

I had to help my neighbor the other day ordering something from Amazon and changing the credit card on her account. This former Republican and daughter of a conservative pastor has really gone over to the dark side. I've noticed that she gives ten grand a year in donations to NARAL and Planned Parenthood and thousands each year to radical candidates. But now she's got an affinity credit car for Slate, of all things, so she can better support their line of tripe. I guess it's just as well I'm moving thousands of miles away.

CH, Laura Ingraham would still stand out as brilliant and lovely even without a contrast with the Modern Medusa, Eleanor Clift.

I was surprised to see Kirsten Powers on Fox this weekend. I would have thought she would have been in hiding longer after Megyn Kelly demolished her a few days ago.

sbw

Sweet view, daddy!

The problem with lake views like yours (and ours) is that there is no reason to vacation to any place with something less.

Ignatz

Geez daddy, your view of the fiord is really being obstructed by those pesky trees. Need someone to remove them?

And I pray good healing your way Pagar.

Captain Hate

mefolkes, I agree; I was just pointing out that it was my first experience seeing and hearing her. That she didn't back down from that shrill shrew was an unexpected bonus.

Daddy, that view is better than a tarhole deserves.

Old Lurker

"(back when the sight and sound of the gasbag host didn't make me want to vomit)"

I made the decision sometime during Bush 2's second term that I would just not watch the Sunday shows anymore. The brashness of the libs' lies, the gasbagedness of all the hosts, and the (almost) always shockingly weak response from the token Rep, never conservative - usually McCain or Graham or Specter - just ruined my moode for hours if not days.

So I gave it up and have been happier ever since.

(There was hope for Fox but then Tony Snow died, Brit retired, and the gasbags ascended.)

Old Lurker

Check out the LUN for the results of McDivot's and Eric Shabazz Holder's handiwork.

narciso the harpoon

You mean Steadman Holder, although the Shabazz is a nice touch though

mefolkes

Ignatz, if you're so desperate to cut trees down, how about a "busman's holiday" near Klawock, helping me clear the land I wind up buying? I can't afford to pay anything, but there would be lots of crab, shrimp, halibut and salmon.

Captain Hate

narc, some of the antagonism that Kristol generates among my fellow conservatives surprises me at times. I may not agree with him on everything but I find his arguments well stated and put him at least 5 standard deviations removed from the likes of Frum and his ilk.

Captain Hate

LOL; I'd forgotten Steadman.

Boy those Arizonians are really really smart. At least 72% of them!

mefolkes

OL, Chris Wallace was dismal this past weekend. He's going back over to the dark side. And I'm not too pleased with the bias shown by the pretty new black anchor on Fox.

Narciso, I thank God that Laura Ingraham beat her cancer. She is far too valuable to lose.

I used to consider Kirsten Powers to be one of the last Dems to retain a shred of dignity, honor and sanity. No more. Now she's just a pretty face mouthing inanities.

Greetings from Inner Mongolia (again).

In the last 24 hrs I went from a helicopter in the Great NW to a 767 out of YVR to a 737 out of PEK to an Audi staff car to a yurt offering some of the best lamb I have ever eaten, along with a very tart yogurt that was either goat or sheep. Sat with Genghis Kahn's portrait over my shoulder. The paint thinner liquor was as fowl as usual, but I had a chance to chase it with 'milky tea' -- whatever that was. (No translators.)

Media Exec Compares Black Tea Partiers to Jewish Concentration Camp Guards

Luke Visconti, owner of DiversityInc, said on CNN that Tea Party leaders "are people leveraging racism" and that they have risen to power with an "anti-black Obama" message.

JM Hanes

On the basis of her first installment, I can only say bravo to Dana Priest!

I don't really care about her motives or her political connections. It's about time someone wrote that article, and she may be one of the only messengers who could.

The Intelligence "community" has become a multiheaded hydra -- for which both parties are responsible and which no one can currently hold to account. Forget Gorelick's quaint little wall. Who needs it now? There was no way DHS and a eunuch at DNI were ever going to make things better, and they haven't. We're going to have to break some major eggs, and we need to do it soon.

OT - Early polling results for upcoming elections in MI at LUN. Some interesting numbers from the results below:

89.8% of Republican primary voters believe the nation is on the wrong track.

89.4% of Republican primary voters believe Michigan is on the wrong track.

68.8% of Republican primary voters say that the economy and jobs are their top concern. The state budget and taxes comes in a very distant second at 10.2%.

11.6% of Republican primary voters view Barack Obama favorably.

Only 7.2% of Republican primary voters view Jennifer Granholm favorably.

12.2% of Republican primary voters approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as President.

10.2% of Republican primary voters approve of the job Jennifer Granholm is doing as Governor.

mefolkes

Ignatz, I was just giving you a hard time. I'm perfectly capable of dropping a tree on myself without any help. Seriously, a friend who is a Forest Service employee will be helping me with the felling and moving of trees. I won't need any other help. My father was a logger, long, long ago, until some idiot dropped a tree in the wrong direction, and without the warning shout, right on top of him. That told him he needed a new job.

narciso the harpoon

JM, I understand the sentiment, but seeing Priest and Arkin's past record, do you really

Janet

We have a 2 pane front window. One of the panes is broken, so we have covered it with paper (like the billboard in Iowa). Here is our view...

That is our neighbor. She is trying to barter her homemade necklaces for healthcare. Anyone want to come visit me?

Janesquaredance

And I'm not too pleased with the bias shown by the pretty new black anchor on Fox.

I completely agree - it is impossible to miss. She was on Fox before and got moved out, now she is back replacing other horrible anchor.

mefolkes

Oh, Ignatz, you don't have to tell me about the airline fares, especially to Ketchikan, served only by Alaska Air. I can book a RT to Anchorage for 55% of the fare to Ketchikan, which is much closer to Minneapolis. So, believe it or not, my scouting trip will be by way of a Greyhound 15-day pass which will get me to Prince Rupert and back. I'll take the short ferry run from there. Total cost of this bus/ferry trip is half the cheapest air fare. Plus I get to overnight both ways with a cousin in Vancouver. My next trip up there will be in my van, with my guns, which will necessitate taking the ferry all the way from Bellingham, WA, to avoid the anti-gun regulations of Canada. I went through hell getting into British Columbia last July, grilled repeatedly about all the guns I had ever owned, even though I didn't have one of them with me.

boris

do you really think that is the intent
