I wonder how D.C. can accommodate 10 million people all wearing giant papier mache heads.

Danube of Thought

Can't wait to see what they look like.

Allow me to ">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1315518/Segway-owner-Jimi-Heselden-dies-riding-machines-cliff.html"> segue from "Clown Cars" to perhaps a better way for libs to try to get to the rally...

Rick Ballard

Clarice,

I suspect that Beavis and Butthead at the Mall is going to provide further demonstration of the President's King Merdes touch.

rse

On the Internet issue from this morning, LUN is a nice overview from Cato on why this is such a bad idea.

NK

Wait/....TM reads the NY Times?.... ooooh, so we don't have to.

Thanks for taking the hit for us TM!

Neo
You have said that if Republicans gain control of either house, there will be gridlock in Congress.

I [House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-SC] think there will be. You've got people like [Republican Rep. Darrell] Issa from California who is a ranking member on the government oversight committee. He has already said publicly that if he gets the gavel he will be issuing subpoenas everywhere. That will define the next two years of the president's administration. The White House will be full-time responding to subpoenas about where the president may or may not have been born, whether his mother and father were ever married, and whether his wife's family is from Georgetown or Sampit.

If it's impossible to get "standing" .. this is the last hope for "birthers."

Jane (sit on the couch or save your country)

Why do we care if the Obama parents were ever married? Does that make a difference? (No launching into birtherism required.)

I welcome the moonbat rally. (Altho when they find out no one can come they will probably cancel it.) Bet not one sign will be hand made.

Terrible Economic News from a French Politician:

">http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11419212"> "I see some [foreign investment funds] looking for returns of 20 or 25% at a time when fellatio is close to zero."

Porchlight

Issa is not going to issue any subpoenas related to the birth certificate. This is just Clyburn's dumb GOTV talking point.

Clarice

Well, since no one's listening to Clyburn's racist claims about the tea party anymore, I guess he had nowhere else to go.

Jack is Back!

Clarice,

DC does pretty good handling 535 plus some WH people who wear paper maiche heads. This should not be a problem as long as they stay at that Days Inn in Anacostia.

What I want to know is how much stimulus money is being used to organize, transport, house and fee these leeches and moochers? You know it is being used, we just don't have the proof.

bgates

The N.A.A.C.P., the A.F.L.-C.I.O., the National Council of La Raza, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Code Pink, the Committee of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, Queers for Economic Justice, the War Resisters League, the American Association of University Professors, the Communist Party USA, Young People For, the Democratic Socialists of America, and the Ex-Offenders Association of PA plan to make the case that they speak for America’s embattled middle class.

I'd like to be funny enough to make such a scathingly satirical list of the organizations involved in this parade of horrors, but credit has to go to the event organizers, because every name on that list is real.

What a gift for the Tea Parties, to have all of these groups stand together. It makes me so happy to see so many Democrat interest groups openly join hands with the Democratic Socialists and the Communist Party. Lots of people still view the NAACP favorably. NAACPUSA, not so much.

NK

I think the rally is a good idea. All voters will be able to see first hand the freak show that is the Democratic Party. Brilliant!

Barbara

Did Sylvia just call into Rush?

Jane (sit on the couch or save your country)

I hope the Larouchies will be there.

I'd like to be funny enough to write this kind of satire, but credit where due: these are all real organizations signed up for this nightmare.

What a gift to have so many Democratic interest groups take the masks off at the same time to proclaim they're opposed to the Tea Parties but allied with the Communist Party. People still have fond memories of the NAACP. The NAACPUSA, not so much.

Dangit, I waited 15 minutes and that comment hadn't showed up yet.

I don't think Issa will touch the Birther argument, but that certainly should be an easy one for the WH to handle. McCain managed to do it.

freak show that is the Democratic Party.
Looking at bgates list...these are the same groups that come to all the protests on the mall. They are professional protesters. Just a few new faces wander in sometimes, but pretty much they are the same old bunch.
Against American citizens, businesses, against Israel, against our military...um...for abortion, for any radical sexual stuff, for people from other countries,...
Not sure if that covers it, but almost. Same old, same old.

Danube of Thought

Looks like now's the time to buy.

Boatbuilder

Maybe somebody should suggest to Clyburn that if he's really worried about Issa wasting his time sending out all those subpoenas, he should just prevail on Obama to authorize the release of the damn birth certificate.

Beavis and Butthead at the Mall

I went to high school with Beavis and Butthead. The only way those guys would get anywhere near that rally is if they had some rocks that needed throwing. They're just not "joiners".

The White House will be full-time responding to subpoenas about where the president may or may not have been born

and that's not a formula for reaching a single-digit handicap.

Janet

he should just prevail on Obama to authorize the release of the damn birth certificate.

Amen Boatbuilder! No subpoena would be required if the birth certificate had already been released...so I guess it hasn't been.

Rush is talking to a caller about the ad that ran in Spanish last night during Sunday Night Football. It is MSNBC. Not only was there an ad in all Spanish, the score was shown in Spanish. No English translation was provided. Did anyone else see it or was it just in various local markets?

fdcol63

Obama's problem is not where he was born. It's where he was REARED.

He has no conception of "traditional heartland American values" because he grew up in Muslim Indonesia and in a white minority Hawaii with an athesist mother and a socialist-leaning grandfather, tutored by the avowed Communist Frank Marshall Davis, and then indoctrinated in college by radical leftist professors at Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard, and then his associations with terrorist America-haters like Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, et al in Chicago.

Americans should have considered that before voting for the cosmopolitan fantasy that the MSM sold us.

bgates

No comments available at ADN, but I did submit my rewrite to the NPR story. Their version focused on the guilty verdict and described the prosecutorial misconduct as just something the defense lawyer complained about - and you know how those people are. I offered an alternative, in which the bigger news was the fact that the prosecutors were held in contempt and the verdict was vacated.

daddy the "Extremist"

You guys have probably already seen this, but the wife of the Arizona Farmer who was supposedly murdered by illegal aliens a few months back has just been run over in the street by a Drunk Driver. I think it was everywhere. I was livid every time quisling NBC (where I hate watching football because even with Olbermann gone they're still a bunch of clueless turds) would break away and have a logo saying "futball americano" or some "look at how multiculti we are" horseshit like that.

Tammy Bruce just pointed out something I've noticed; Ellen Degeneris seems to be actively trying to look like a man. She was never attractive at any time and had previously gone from "mousy" to "androgynous" but this latest look is obviously confusing even teh lezzos.

Clarice

daddy, the driver was a citizen in the report I read.

I need to go to the mall. I have to introduce the Ex-Offenders Association of Pa. to Code Pink just as the sun goes down.

Jane (sit on the couch or save your country)

Has anyone noticed that NBC (so of course no one has noticed) is having a big education summit this week on the heels of the release of "Waiting for Superman".

Here is the interesting part. Waiting for Superman is the product of the same film maker who made "An Inconvenient Truth" so you know his bias except the movie apparently points out that student accomplishment is down about 40% and the fault seems to lie with the teacher's unions.

What a conflict for the democrats.

Captain Hate

Sue,

This is also the result of having a mangina like Roger Goodell in charge of the league. That doesn't get done without his approval. Meanwhile Howie Long shoved a telephone pole, with climbing spikes, up his ass yesterday with commentary about why increasing the length of the season is a really dumb idea in a sport that likes to pretend that a huge number of it's players end up crippled with reduced lifespans.

Captain Hate

I noticed, Jane; "Waiting for Superman" is getting great reviews and quisling NBC will do its damnedest to blunt its message.

daddy the "Extremist"

Jane,

From the NBC story:

" Obama said that additional funding tied to significant reforms — including a longer school year and lifting teaching as a profession — is a much-needed fix."

Right. Schools need more money---there's a novel idea.

And the kids will just love sitting in class longer.

And I don't even know what lifting teaching as a Profession even means.

I think we've discovered the Alien the UN Space Commission has been looking for, since Obama obviously knows nothing whatever about human nature.

JorgXMcKie

We'll need lots of pictures of the rally, especially overhead crowd shots.

And right now, the Larouchies are on my campus, in front of the library, at least. I can hardly wait to explain those loonies to my students.

Rob Crawford

And I don't even know what lifting teaching as a Profession even means.

Pay raises, tenure, and "smaller classes".

Duh.

It's worked great here in CA.
The more we spend the lower our state ranks.
But we do have a new $600 million campus full of ignoramuses to show for it.

Rob Crawford

Via AOS, another odd incident in Atlantic City:

I trust absentee and "early" ballots less and less every day.

Rob Crawford

Frack.

LUN for the absentee ballot story.

OT--A non traditional but fab sounding Indian chapati recipe. (The flour Indians use is a durum whole wheat that's particularly healthful my Costco sells it so do Indian grocery stores including those online.
****************
1 ripe avocado, pitted and fleshed (remove skin like an orange or cut lengthwise and scoop out flesh)
2 cups of chappati flour
1tsp salt (to taste)
1tbs corriander powder
1tbs any other masala you fancy (chaat masala, jeera powder, garam masala etc)
1 tsp chilli powder
water as required (small quantity)

In a large bowl, mash avocado pulp with a fork. Add flour and all masalas. Rub the mixture together and use the moisture of avocado to knead a smooth dough, adding water only if necessary (I needed to add about 2-3 tbsps of water). The dough usually is pretty smooth due to the above stated fat content. Then, break into even sized pieces (about 10). Roll out into ~6 in rounds and slap it on to a hot tava/griddle. When small bubbles appear, flip and slap the other side on the tava. When that side bubbles up and shows some color, flip again and apply slight pressure with a folded paper napkin or a clean kitchen towel to cook it through. Serve with dal or other vegetable for a complete meal.

"Waiting for Superman" is lefty and pushing for school choice, you know like the voucher program in DC that the Obama regime cancelled as he sent the kids to St. Albans. Hey, if it was good enough for Al Gore it should be good enough for Barry.

The spanish language ad was for Sprint. The Jets and Dolpins were shown in spanish on the TV scoreline. But then its National Hispanic Month and the NFL, which is totally PC, has to honor the Jets QB, Mark Sanchez.

Did Sylvia say what she was calling about? Stalkers on the Right?

In other O/T news, the latest from Bob Woodward on the final countdown to the decision on Afghanistan:

"Under the redefined mission, Obama told Gates, the best I can do is 30,000. "This is what I'm willing to take on, politically," the president said. [.....]

"I will give you some latitude within your 10 percentage points," Obama said, but under exceptional circumstances only.

"Can you support this?" Obama asked Gates. "Because if the answer is no, I understand it and I'll be happy to just authorize another 10,000 troops, and we can continue to go as we are and train the Afghan national force and just hope for the best."

"Hope for the best." The condescending words hung in the air.

Mine too. But what I love as much as any one of the really insane groups is the fact that so many of the groups that call themselves mainstream are willing to show up in public with the nuts. The American Federation of Teachers is partnering with the Communist Party. Sojourners is partnering with the Communist Party. AFL-CIO is partnering with the Communist Party. It reminds me of Mark Steyn's description of the UN's mixture of liberal democracies and despotisms: "if you take a quart of ice-cream and a quart of dog feces and mix ’em together the result will taste more like the latter than the former." Not that any of these groups have any interest in liberal democracies, but I'd like to see the poll numbers for the more ostensibly mainstream of these guys knocked down from ice cream levels to the more suitable dog feces.

Sue

JMH,

They never had any problems marching in rallies organized by ANSWER, an avowedly Maoist group. No one ever really pressured them about it, either.

"No enemies to the left" -- and no criticism to the left, either.

DrJ

George Blanda has passed. He was 83.

Janet

Exactly Rob. ANSWER organized all those anti war rallies. ANSWER is one of the organizations on the list for this rally. It is the same old, same old.
and the LaRouchies will be there. They are at all the rallies on the edges. They are only photographed though at the Tea Parties...but they are at any gathering on the mall of more than 20 people. Probably follow big families around...idiots.

jwest

Although “Waiting for Superman” was produced by a liberal, it apparently is devastating to the teacher’s union.

This has happened before with a documentary named “The Last Pullman Car”. The producer, a wild-eyed liberal and union supporter, filmed the demise of the Pullman Company when they needed the union to make enough concessions to get a contract that would save the company.

Since the film was made with such obvious sympathy and bias towards the union, the exposure of the thought process (or lack thereof) on the part of the union leadership and members was particularly damning. In the end, the national union seized the funds of the local (which the members thought was their money), kicked them out of their union hall and reminded them to make their regular union dues payments or be subject to disciplinary action.

By showing teachers in a similar light, “Waiting for Superman” may be just the thing to bust the death-hold that the unions have on education.

jwest

OT –

If every Tea Party group in the U.S. would get involved in a similar action like this Houston “True the Vote” project, the country would immediately be a much better place to live.

Hit, I think she identified herself as being from Rutgers. But boy, she sounded just like our gal. Poor Rush almost sounded like Cap'n Hate by the time he was done with her.

Meantime, our other pest is two threads back implying nobody at JOM is smart enough to appreciate his mile long cut and paste jobs.

Janet

I was surprised at the number of so-called organizations on the partner list.

All the anti-war rallies had that many partners & more. The same cast of characters. Some of those might have 2 people holding the organizations dirty worn out banner and that is it. ANSWER usually prints up signs to hand out to any stray people around...the unions do too.
Cubby holes & tiny offices will be emptied out that day for the event & the unions will bus people in.
Very few attendees are Mr. & Mrs. Jones from the suburbs.

Good for you CC. I stopped listening because I couldn't stand hearing her any more than I can reading her tripe.

Jack is Back!

George Blanda. Hall of Famer. Played at Kentucky under Bear Bryant. Played pro ball from the 40's to the 70's. Think of all the guys who played 340 games as a QB, place kicker and line backer. No one - Morton Anderson was a place kicker and maybe a ski jumper but basically he was a kicker and we know how much regard those guys are held.

He was also a classy guy who had to play for both George Halas and Al Davis. Its a wonder he lived to be 83.

Jane

By showing teachers in a similar light, “Waiting for Superman” may be just the thing to bust the death-hold that the unions have on education.

That could tear Obama in half. Or maybe not. The kids can be dumbed down as long as the union members get a raise.

Jack is Back!

Janet,

Read the Ayres op-ed on "Waiting for Superman" and especially the comments. With people like him and his brother having any influence on education and commenters like the ones there we are safely mediocre for a few more generations. My son attends a catholic school and we educate him for a little over $5K per pupil. How do they do? Well the ones who matriculate at Catholic high school in St. Augustine have a 100% college acceptance and only 84 graduates who received over $3.5 million in scholarships including all 3 service academies, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine plus 8 for Ivy League. The local public school had 500 graduates for $250K in scholarships. It costs close to $14K per student to educate in our public school system. Our schools teacher to admin ratio is 12-1 but the public school is 3-1. But the dirty secret is: Parent involvement - not just at PTO but everyday.

When the system gets it right (can you say Michelle Rhee) they make sure it is bombed and destroyed. Boortz is right - the death knell is not our Congress but our government education system - destroying from within one student at a time.

Janet

Let me rein in my comments a bit. My experience has been 2 anti war marches & some kind of pro Palestinian march. I was with a pro troops counter rally, & a Stand With Israel counter rally.
I saw the long lists of organizations coming to those marches & felt I just HAD to counter it. They weren't near as big as the newspapers always made them sound. Real rag-tag looking bunches with all kinds of issues...not just anti war or anything. Like transgender groups???what the hell are they doing at these marches????
Anyway, I'm really not an expert.

Blanda was given a second life by the AFL where he'd come in when Mad Bomber Lamonica just wouldn't have it and pull their bacon out of the fire. He was still kicking field goals when Snake Stabler was drafted. Man I loved the Raiders, back in those days. Would make or break my whole year if they won or lost in the playoffs. Took me months to recover from the Immaculate Reception, which I still contend Tatum never touched.
Then they moved to LA and I was apparently permanently cured of my obsession though I had a short relapse in 1983.
Haven't cared much about it since. No team will ever top that collection of lunatics so why hope forlornly?

RUSH: Sylvia in Clinton Township, New Jersey. It's great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

RUSH: Yeah, hi!

CALLER: I'm sorry, Rush. You know, Rush, I was just wondering. What are you talking about? I mean, the president... People talking about -- your listeners especially talking about -- the president has, you know... the socialist. He's this that the other thing and he's just, you know, putting taxes on us. Since he's been in office the president cut taxes on like 98% of the population because, as you know, the stimulus package that he had was 42% tax cuts. It was 32% aid to the states who can't print money like the federal government does.

RUSH: Sylvia, Sylvia, where did you go to school?

CALLER: Actually I'm here at Rutgers (snickers). But anyway --

RUSH: That explains it.

CALLER: No, no, Rush. Tell me what's wrong with that.

RUSH: Do you really think that he's cut taxes for 98% of the American people? Sylvia, do you really believe that?

CALLER: Yes, he has. There are phenomenal things that took place when I filled out my taxes this year.
