Per this video and this diligent coverage in the Brit press, something seems to have been thrown at or near Obama during a rally in Philadelphia.
It is possible that the video camera produced enough foreshortening that the book (or whatever) appears much closer than it was.
Still, the world wonders - what did the President dodge and when did he dodge it?
Actually, we are only wondering that in an attempt to force a lame parallelism - the President seemed oblivious to the danger (what else is new?) and didn't dodge anything. No doubt his acolytes will insist he was focused on jobs, jobs, jobs to the exclusion of all else. Right, including the public option and closing Gitmo.
Meanwhile, the utter absence of US press coverage is odd - surely they could find (or invent!) a racist Tea Partier who hurled what is obviously Glenn Beck's book at Obama. But not even Al Jazeera covered it, which is certainly thought provoking.
UPDATE: It wasn't a protest, it was a book proposal!
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Secret Service says it questioned and released an overexuberant fan of President Barack Obama who had tossed a paperback book near the president at a Philadelphia rally on Sunday.
Spokesman Ed Donovan said the man had written the book and hoped the president would read it. Donovan said agents concluded the man posed no danger.
Obama seemed not to notice the book that landed near him on an outdoor stage after he finished speaking to a large crowd Sunday. The president had turned his back to shake hands with people on another side of the stage.
Now, a shoe I can understand. But, a book? Dems don't read anything including legislation. They probably didn't even know what it was.

Actually, I would rather see the complete list of Obama 2008 donors, and the memo's that authorized disabling all the security features to online donations. Those probably don't exist any more though, as the Obama transition team spent a nice chunk of change on high end shredders, including ones that had the ability to litterally shred a hard drive.

--“They can put this to rest,” said Joshua Earnest, a White House spokesman. “They have the keys to the file cabinet.”--
I've heard this "when did you stop beating your wife" tactic described as McCarthyism.
In fact it's considerably worse. At least when Joe accused someone of being a communist (and we now know they usually were) we knew he wasn't one himself whereas Barry is the worst kind of foreign money abuser and yet insists on calling the kettle black.

Yes, it is deliciously ironic that they demand the same burden of proof of their opponents they expressly reject on the BC issue. But I would rather point out the hypocracy of decrying "foreign money" from a man who as a candidate made it campaign policy not to check the origins of his own campaign donors.

Hey Jim Ryan, you're the commentor whose home town is Erie, no? Yesterday was our annual trek to Albion for their fall beef roast and we sat at a table with some Erieites and had a good time. Mrs H made the comment that she's never seen so few houses with Halloween decorations up and said it's hard to imagine it not being directly related to the economy. I make it a point to not discuss politics when I'm there for a variety of reasons but if I were to make a semi-educated guess on a way to categorize the people I'd say Reagan democrats. I got the feeling that the area is really hurting economically and they're not very happy about Preznit Smoove's performance.

dear Pagar,
I'm just one of many voices in a chorus. Clearly sensitivities in FLA are higher due to the large mil retiree population and that it *is* in Florida where LTC(r) West is running for office.
To be honest, the VFW-PAC is a dirty organization, no two ways about it. Did appreciate JiB's summary which was fascinating. I stand by my letter but like you, I am disgusted that there has been no national VFW response. There are quite a number of calls for members to quit the organization; others suggest it should/must be reformed from within.
Really, though, what has happened in the VFW is actually no different than what has happened with the WDC "ruling class." They think they know what's best for us, so we should just sit down, shut up, and take the gruel they serve.
I won't stand for it--I know you won't either.
As Ben said 234 years ago in the Continental Congress just before signing the Declaration of Independence, a phrase that has informed much of my work in Iraq:
"We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately."
I enjoy hanging with JoM folks, even if mostly only a lurker. So, what have we, you, me done for out country today, beside just talk about it?
Kudos to Jane and all those who made Strurbridge such a success !
Stay Strong !
Take good care,
Sandy

The only kooky thing I can remember Jeff Lord saying was the weird claim about "lynching" in the Sherrod story.
He does get a little hyperbolic at times but his">http://spectator.org/archives/2010/10/11/the-presidents-nun-obamacare-s">his current story on Sister Carol Keehan, CEO of Catholic Health Association and BIG Barry apologist and booster, is enlightening. He's been pretty dogged and AFAICT pretty accurate in his pursuit of Dem corruption.

Sandy, Thanks for sharing. What I've done today is send more messages to VFWPAC, My VFW post and about a half dozen State VFWPAC chairpersons telling them about the different things that the VFWPAC endorsement list is doing to the VFW organization. Did you read the 11:57 AM Link?
I have also been alerting those comrades to the fact that the Federal government is issuing lots of waivers that will insure that a lot of military members/retirees won't be getting their absentee ballots in time to return them and
have them count for this election.
Meanwhile, dozens of other issues pile up, like the attempts to remove the rule of law from the mortgage/bankruptcy mess. The efforts of the Bureau of Land Management to defeat the efforts of the Border Patrol to stop the flood of illegals across our border. The effort to have the taxpayer pick up the tab for the under financing of
union pensions and the plan to move forward with the attempt by the federal government to take over all 401k accounts held by private citizens.
At my age, working to keep people aware of what is going on by using the computer is about all that is left that I can do.
Take Care over there and may you and all over there come home safely.

It sure looks like Amazon lets its authors write their own blurbs doesn't it? The swan on the front of Khan's book looks like it's completely different stylistically from the swan-like impression in the flying photo. I tend to doubt that a publisher would put two such swans on both front and back jackets, in any case, but I could certainly be wrong.
