No comment necessary.

Dave (in MA)

Have you no sense of decency, SIR!

Jane

That will make it a very short thread.

Jack is Back!

Keith Olberman reminds me of the kid in high school who thought he was so smart that he thought Moby Dick was the penis of a new wave musician.

Captain Hate

Bathtub Boy should be worried about being lumped in with the unemployed when ComCast, or whoever else that cares about things like RATINGS, takes over MessNBC. This should be good because a douche like Liebowitz will try to recover from this weekend's disaster by teeing off on a stationary target like Moo U's most embarrassing alumnus. Jon may be a smarmy prick but he's much less dull than Keefums.

Janet...off the couch & sportin Tea Party chic

A pack of losers...Olbermann, Stewart, Colbert. I got a robocall from a chakra releasing, masseur attacking grifter today telling me to vote for Jim Moran...a criminal thug, & anti-semite. What a party those Dems have...

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

To be perfectly honest I'll take the in-your-face, honest and up front left wing idiocies of Olbermann over the same repellent orthodoxy couched in Stewart and Colbert's droll, sanctimonious irony which is nothing more than an infantile defense mechanism to avoid debate that most people drop when they learn just how creepy it is in high school, usually learned through a series of well earned melvins, swirlies or loosened teeth.

Ranger

BTW, RCP has the Dems down to 171 safe seats in the House. How low can you go...

Thomas Collins

Blue boy on blue boy action? TM, keep this up and your threads will be filtered by SafeSearch.

Danube of Thought

At some point the left will tumble to the fact that this ain't the time for irony. Not for anybody who wants to win an election.

Those who cry "aux barricades" do not treat gently with ironists.

Thomas Collins

Nice rendition of our National Anthem by Lyle Lovett at Game 4.

Clarice

Speaking of sharks--From the NY Post:

"A trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of Bernard Madoff's investment firm spent $26.9 million in the second and third quarters to recover $849,000 for Madoffs victims, according to a federal court filing. Irving Picard, the trustee, said in a filing with Manhattan federal court that much of the expense -- $15.8 million -- went to cover fees for his law firm, Baker & Hostetler LLP."

Jim Ryan

Keith Olbermann is so stupid, he thinks Dick Armey is the name of Boy George's fan club.

sbw

Both G. W. and G. H. W. ... and another perfect strike.

Captain Hate

LOL Clarice; the victims can't afford to get any more restitution.

Jane

Geez Louise Clarice

sbw

... and Barbara and Laura.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

telling me to vote for Jim Moran

Jim Moran who thinks bureaucrats trump troops in the government service respect department. Ewwwwww!

rrpjr

Good point, ignatz.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

I thought it so cute to see Barbara Bush with her little digital camera taking a picture of her two special guys.

Jack is Back!

LIve blogging the first pitch tonight.

Nolan Ryan will catch the heat from 41 and 43. Hot sweet is that?

41 with a cane but Barabara looks terrific. What a nice family. I only wish they would invite me for Thanksgiving

Looks like 41 won't throw. What the hell happen? No pitch?

Joe Buck looks like he got the wrong car at National - did I miss the pitch? And is Tim Carver getting too old to talk about today's game? Its not the same as his game. This is a power game and less and less lineup strategy plays a preminun anymore.

Still waiting for the first pitch. Feel I missed something typing, wierd!

I guess since Torres is getting ready to bat he isn't going to swing against Bush 43. Well Tommy Hunter doesn't look like someone who clears bush and rides a mountain bike so I guess I missed something.

Liam Royal, my new hero. God bless kids.

Did Bush 41 actually throw out a ball?

Danube of Thought

"telling me to vote for Jim Moran..."

'Bout some useless information
S'posed ta fire my 'magination...

sbw

No, JIB, 43 through a perfect strike. Nice smooth technique. Like he plays catch every day.

Jack is Back!

What the hell was I doing? They said Nolan would catch him so I guess I was waiting for Ryan to go to the plate and catch him. Hope YouTube got it.

glasater

It was nice and smooth SBW. It looked like both former presidents were a little bulky around the middle which made me think of those special vests...
If W did have one on it didn't slow him down.

Captain Hate

LOL @ DoT crushing the classic rock

Clarice

I think if that judge doesn't pare the fee claim with hatchet, he ought to be impeached.

Rick Ballard

Gosh, it's just terrible to see a family squabble break out between the wake on Saturday and the burial on Tuesday. Can't these folks keep a respectful silence as President IWon becomes President ULost?

Sara (Pal2Pal)

JIB: I was glad the TIVO was recording. W was so nonchalant about the pitch, I had to rewind to make sure he actually threw the ball. He did. Perfect strike.

Janet...off the couch & sportin Tea Party chic

Here ya go JiB. The Pitch

Sara (Pal2Pal)

For those who missed it:

First Pitch

PD

"A trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of Bernard Madoff's investment firm spent $26.9 million in the second and third quarters to recover $849,000 for Madoffs victims..."

Sounds like an even better scam than the one Madoff was running.

Jack is Back!

Thanks Janet and Sara, How the hell did I miss it? Wow, Josh Hamilton just made a great diving catch.

Any hoo. Do you think 6 years from now when the White Sox are in the series (ha, ha) that the ex-president from their area willl sit in the front row behing home plate or in the luxury bos of the SEIU at Comiskey?

Just asking.

Jack is Back!

::box:: grrrrrrr!

Janet...off the couch & sportin Tea Party chic

Ryan asks W if he wants him to be behind the plate...W smiles & says yeah, that's fine.
The video is wonderful.

Pagar

"RCP has the Dems down to 171 safe seats in the House. How low can you go..."

I would prefer to see the number of safe seats for the Democrats to be Zero.

Jack is Back!

Lets just say that there is a big disconnect to what we feel is right and justice from the people who would want 171 democrats to represent them.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

--And is Tim Carver getting too old to talk about today's game?--

God I hope so. That chucklehead runs his mouth non stop.
Makes every game excruciating for me if I leave the sound up.

PD

To do my part in setting a new tone of civility, when the trick or treaters began coming around, I refrained from putting a "Feingold voters NOT WELCOME" sign on the front door.

Sue

What an awesome picture Hot Air has up of Palin and Ted Nugent on their home page.

Dave (in MA)

PD, that was prudent. Those SEIU types are known for their egg throwing. Just ask Andrew Breitbart.

Jack is Back!

Sue,

Who is that with Sarah and Ted? And why aren't you watching the game like I am? Ooops. Sorry!

Janet...off the couch & sportin Tea Party chic

Here is a Reason TV video via Hot Air of interviews at the Restoring Sanity Rally.

The people are clueless.
The Arlington Democrats put a flier on my door today saying - "Vote Yes 2010 Bonds"
the next line is - "Fiscally responsible choice for ALL Arlingtonians"

Fiscally responsible to them means to take on more debt & spend more? They are CLUELESS!!!!

Sue

The kid that just hit the ball out is the kid that graduated high school with my son in law. Brewer High in Fort Worth.

Jack is Back!

Oh,Oh. Huff, two run homer. Not a good sign for Texas. Which will translate to the hex of Bush pitching.

Jane

I was just thinking about how differently we all felt when we sat here talking to each other 2 years ago. We've lost some old friends and gained some new ones and the news on the horizon is certainly more palatable. Back then I remember barely entertaining any glimmer of hope - for good reason. Now I'm trying to not go overboard.

I think it was colder that year too.

Sue

Jack,

I think that is the republican candidate in WV. Raese.

Carol Herman

Crowds were thin for Jon Stewart. Might mean that the turnout on Tuesday won't favor the dems, either.

Frau Kürbis

I love Dubya and his parents.

Janet...off the couch & sportin Tea Party chic

Me too Frau.

Rick Ballard

Final Gallup +15R

And it's a stacked deck - they shifted the low turn out model to 45%. The honest projection would be +17R.

100 seats is very possible.

Army of Davids

MN (8) ...... Cravaak (TP/R) v Oberstar (D)

A battle to the finish....dead even. This is a battle over the merits of ObamaCare.

We need this one.

Ranger

Via Hot Air http://hotair.com/archives/2010/10/31/quotes-of-the-day-499/>Quotes of the day:

“‘Everybody that is tied will lose, and everyone that is ahead by a few points will lose because of the GOP wave,’ said one party media consultant who is involved in a wide array of House races. ‘There are going to be some surprises.’”

Jim Ryan

I met Ken Cuccinelli today and thanked him for what he's been doing this year, especially his work on prosecuting Climategate.

Janet...off the couch & sportin Tea Party chic

Very cool Jim, Cuccinelli is great.
and your quote Ranger...please Almighty God, let it be so.

Thomas Collins

I think the corrupt bastards are getting tired. The radio station planning the hit job on Miller claimed the reporters were just discussing various scenarios, not conspiring themselves to create anti-Miller news. From this, I conclude that the station expects us to believe that the reporters were busily preparing themselves how to react if a child molester showed up at a Miller rally.

Couldn't they think of a better lie than this. Even Clinton's I didn't have sexual relations with that woman remark was more plausible.

 Ann

Breaking News:

Major Court Victory For Military Voters

What a day.

Teared up watching the Bush family at the Rangers game. Watching the replay I couldn't help but notice how manly our past presidents looked in that golf cart. :)

Porchlight:

Just caught up and I howled at your comment on the other thread:
Happy PUK Day to all! Bock like you've never bocked before! :)
Halloween will now and forever be " Happy Bock Day" for me!

Bock Day was a great success. One little girl dressed up like a cowboy (loved her from that minute on) came in and wouldn't leave. She was so fascinated by the decorations she wanted to go upstairs and see the rest. Ha! Just made my day because I think she will be a great artist one day because of me, of course. Ha Ha!!!

I was glad for the distractions today because I am so nervous about Tuesday. This media and voting fraud carp have to be reckoned with someway, somehow. Loved Palin being honest and calling them bastards. Woot Woot!

Nice to see Sara(PayPal2) at JOM again too.

MarkO

In re: Tim McCarver. If you read "October 1964" you will get a better sense of the star he was. Great baseball book.

The Bush family has so much style and substance. What a strange country we live in where someone with neither can be president.

Not to mention, Obama throws like, well, a pussy.

Dave (in MA)

Ann, and no mom jeans in sight.

Rick Ballard

Janet,

Nate Silver explains why it is so. I like the 'alternative future' manner with which he describes the reasons why his prognostications to this point have been... What's the word? - oh, yeah.. meaningless.

He's using the Abramowitz model to get to 78 but that model will prove to be low due to the number of soft seats ('06-'08 Dem pickups) in play. I make it 90+ and 100 is very possible.

Porchlight

I think Ranger's quote is right on.

Wish I could keep up with the threads tonight. Love the GHWB/GWB appearance and the GWB pitch.

PeterUK, I miss you very much and have been thinking about you all day. Happy Birthday! I know you and bad are hoisting cocktails up there and smiling down on us. We will check in with you Tuesday night. xoxoxox

narciso

Speaking of Jumping the shark, in the LUN. It's a wonder I'm not more cynical

 Ann

Dave(in MA), George Bush could wear mom jeans and still look and act like a man. Question: If you put a dress on Obama and Bush who would look more feminine? Who would look smarter? Never mind :)

And if I were in charge of awards, I would give a medal of honor to Brietbart:
Breitbart vs Criminal Bastards

Frau Kürbis

Wednesday morning?I'll believe it when I see it.I,too,am nervous about the predicted GOP tsunami.
When I hear that Nina Totenberg is on suicide watch,I'll perk up.
When I hear that Lisa Moocowschitz is tearing her hair out,I'll perk up.
When I hear that Barney Frank is retiring to San Francisco,I'll perk up.

BTW,Clarice,my husband loved the Yiddish translation of Kloppenberg as "meatbll hill."

mockmook

ALERT ALERT ALERT

Can't remember where I got this link LUN

Cubachi blog, bottom of the post:

CNN's Dan Bash has Murkowski saying she can't guarantee she will caucus with the GOP!!!

Stephanie

Live report here in the ATL... my daughter has signed up to be a poll watcher on Tuesday (school's out for election day). Extra Credit from her PS teacher. Plus $225 for the day.

She got assigned to one of the polls that is probably as far from us as you can get without being in another county, though - and has to be there at 6 am. Yikes! It is a republican stronghold, so no worries about BPs showing up to intimidate. Half the voters would just open their trunks and brandish their Elin certified 9 wedges.

I hope Kid Rock isn't in town; cause, at 4:30 am, we're stopping at Waffle House.

The pump(kin) up the vote worked really well. Only had one guy who was not planning on voting for the R's on Tuesday. His wife is, though, so he's neutralized. HA! He's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I didn't belabor the point.

Excited and sleepless in ATL...

Clarice

Well, frau, maybe hill of meatballs would have been even better.

Dr J is joining us for a big election eve bash here --voters, don't let me down now.

Frau Kürbis

My husband sez the name will stick forever to poor(?)Prof.Kloppenberg.Hmmm, why am I thinking fondly of Königsberger Klopse? Ummm, capers in a silky sauce over egg noodles. And the Klopse, of course.

We Slurpee Soldiers will not let you or the country down.

maryrose

Sara: Good to see you back and thank you for the Bush Sr. and Jr. Rangers game video. Keeping my fingers crossed for Tuesday. Captain Hate and I are in northeast Ohio and my sister[who I saw this weekend in southern Ohio} Springfield to be exact are ready to rumble. Go repubs!

Porchlight

Dr J is joining us for a big election eve bash here --voters, don't let me down now.

Oh, I'm so envious! Do tell us what's on the menu and if I may be extra nosy, what wine you drink.

Clarice

My husband is in charge of the wine . We will have a variety of baked appetizers; marinated grilled tenderloin with creole mustard and horseradish sour cream sauces; smoked salmon; wild rice salad, roasted root vegetables; homemade olive and lemon rosemary breads and homemade brotchen ( hard rolls).

Dessert will be espresso brownies; caramel apple squares and ( if I have time) Simca Beck's apple almond tart.

Porchlight

My mouth is watering, Clarice. I love fall and winter cooking so much better than summer and spring.

Clarice

I do, too, porch..except for fresh tomatoes and peaches.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

Thanks Ann and Maryrose.

Finally turned off the porchlight when we ran out of candy. Estimate is that we had somewhere between 600 and 700 trick or treaters tonight. More than I've ever had before anywhere we've lived. The neighbor at the end of the street has a gigantic haunted house built on his whole front yard and Penny said that when she came back from the store at 5:30 they were already lined up around the block to get in, so I guess the kids/parents figured our street was as good as any to trick or treat.

Porchlight

Wow, Sara, that's a lot of candy. Not cheap either I'd imagine. Must have been a ton of fun.

Nice to see you!

Clarice, your mention of the apple almond tart made me think of our thread awhile back discussing the pleasures of tart fruit. Cherry-almond is always such a great Middle/Eastern European pairing.

Charlie (Colorado)

He's using the Abramowitz model to get to 78 but that model will prove to be low due to the number of soft seats ('06-'08 Dem pickups) in play. I make it 90+ and 100 is very possible.

If so, I'll remind you I was saying an over-under of 90 about a week ago.

If not, nevermind.

Charlie (Colorado)

Speaking of prognostications, by the way, Ed Schultz is now saying that "Tea Party Bullies" will use force during the election.

I therefore predict that we will hear stories about SEIU, AFSCME or NBPP violence before Election Day is over.

Danube of Thought

For those who think there's a chance the pixie dust will return:

"CLEVELAND — President Obama wrapped up a weekend of last-minute campaigning in Ohio on Sunday, addressing Democrats in an indoor arena that, in a sign of the “enthusiasm gap” that the president is working so hard to close, was little more than half full.

"About 8,000 people attended the Democratic National Committee’s Moving America Forward’ rally at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center, a hall where the capacity is 13,000. The rafters were largely
empty."

Just imagine those hardy 8,000 gazing around at the 5,000 empty seats. And you know every last one of them was doing just that.

mockmook

PPP Poll at Hot Air (LUN):

Miller 37
MooKow 30
McAdams 30

Hmm, just noticed that they are all M's; very suspicious.

Will the Feds investigate the lack of other last name initials?

mockmook

BTW, that poll even gives respondents the name of MooKow, albeit at the end of a list.

Danube of Thought

RCP is now down to 168 safe Dem, with 224 safe GOP (gain of 45), with 43 toss-ups.

Neo

I caught a couple of minutes of MSNBC's Keith Olbermann last night.
His worry ... that some Republican was going to extort Obama to make his birth certificate public.
Now there are a lot of problems in this world, but, frankly, this sits near the bottom. There is no death involved .. at least not by the electorate. There is no money involved .. especially not the taxpayers money.
If the worst that can happen as a result of Republicans taking over DC on Tuesday, is the revelation of Barack Obama's "long form" birth certificate, then there is no better reason to go out and vote for Republicans.

Porchlight

If so, I'll remind you I was saying an over-under of 90 about a week ago.

I've been saying 80H/10S for two months. It looked foolishly optimistic two months ago, but now it's looking a bit low.

The wave has been staring us all in the face, but the disappointments of the last two elections made it hard to believe it could really be true.

JM Hanes

mockmook:

"CNN's Dan Bash has Murkowski saying she can't guarantee she will caucus with the GOP!!!"

Yeah, she's probably deep into negotiations with Harry Reid.....

Not to worry. She's got to get her votes from somewhere. Appearances can be deceiving, but Jeff Bingham doesn't look like a guy who will just hand over the Energy and Resources chair. Without her seniority, Murky would end up at the back of the bacon line.

Bingham & Murkowsky

"Will the Feds investigate the lack of other last name initials?"

You may want to get rid of that double "m" in your screen name!

Captain Hate

ust imagine those hardy 8,000 gazing around at the 5,000 empty seats. And you know every last one of them was doing just that.

True to their pathetically insecure provincial self-image, the local fishwrap was gushing about how great it was that the Indonesian Imbecile blessed our sleepy backwater with his presence. The good news is that in the clips I saw he didn't use that ignorant car in a ditch story although, in their fawning coverage, they may have excluded it to keep from embarrassing him further.

JM Hanes

Charlie:

"Tea Party Bullies" ..... I therefore predict that we will hear stories about SEIU, AFSCME or NBPP violence before Election Day is over."

Ha!

I'm so jumpy that I'm almost superstitious about predicting big wins. I've pegged my hopes on 52 seats in the House. That's the magic number for taking back Democratic gains in '06 & '08.

To pass the time this weekend, I decided to take a look at shifting numbers and majorities in the House & Senate over time. Assuming I didn't screw up my little spreadsheet, it was interesting to see that Clinton is the only Democrat who has ever had to work with an opposition Congress since 1956, which is as far back as I went. GW Bush is the only Republican who ever had Republican majorities.

Reagan is the only President of either party who had to work with a Congressional split (blue House, red Senate). Soooo, contra Jonathon Chait's baseline, the Republicans will be still be making history, if they only take the House. Obama will be the first Democratic Prez in over half a century who will have to deal with a two party Hill, and he'd have to be the Gipper to make that work.

From a slightly different perspective, when GWB took office, Democrats had held both houses for 32 years, and Republicans for 6.

JM Hanes

Shoot, wouldn't you just know that I should have posted that in the new thread -- which I will now proceed to do! :-)
